RAF_JAGUAR Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Why are folk moaning about the lack of PR from ED? You moan, then get your panties in a twist when they announce something you do not want to hear. Some of you also seem to be software developers, as well as astute businessmen, as you try to persuade ED to publish a clearly unready product. One can only imagine the weeping, wailing and pantie twisting should they dare to do that. Ever thought that whats going on in the world at the moment may have an effect on ED like it has on many others? How much longer, Ops? The engine’s overheating and so am I. We either stand down or blow up. Which do you want? :pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly:
AG-51_Sabot Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 It's kinda like March Madness or the Hockey season. It would have been better to cancel the release date on April 11th when they identified the issue instead of waiting until the the day of release to tell everyone "Oh, we still have problems." I appreciate all the work and everything the developers do, so please don't take this as a criticism, but it's a lot easier to rip the Band Aid off early, instead of hoping it will fall off on it's own. TheGuardian Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Agree with both Jaguar and Jester. The funny part to me is the SP related posts. Kate said the "MAIN NO-GO" not the only no-go. I wanted communication, got it (way too late, but I'll take what I can get).
Jarhead0331 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) Why does one need to take one position or the other? Doesn’t someone have the right to be pissed and understanding at the same time? Speaking for myself, I’m really disappointed that the release has been delayed. I’m also really annoyed that news of the delay was conveyed the morning of the anticipated release with not a whole lot of detail about the actual reason for the delay and no new commitment to a future release date. That is a really bad sign. At the same time, if it’s just not ready, it’s just not ready, and if it doesn’t work, then they can’t release, and I understand that. So, in that regard the decision to delay is also practical and perhaps unavoidable. $hit happens, we have to deal with it. What I don’t understand is all the accolades that go out to “Kate” for making some statement on the morning of release that includes a little more information on a general development roadmap. Whoopty doo. Until yesterday, I didn’t even know who she is. She barely interacts with the community here and I’m hard pressed to view the single post as “transparency”. That honestly rubs me the wrong way much more than the actual delay. I mean the whole announcement about an announcement makes no sense. It created much more agitation then necessary. I’m just flummoxed by all the ass kissing over this announcement. Sorry if I do not accept it at face value, remain skeptical and expect more. Ive been with this sim since the beginning. I’m not going anywhere, but I have a right to be put off, and I won’t be apologetic for my disappointment just because the CEO who I’ve barely ever heard of made some general announcement. Maybe you can go and play with some of your other toys until SC module is ready?
sLYFa Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 ED clearly doesn't care about meeting any reasonable level of communication Has the excitement àbout the SC release impaired your ability to read? There is a lot of information on both what to expect from the SC module and why it has not been released yet. i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD

Ever thought that whats going on in the world at the moment may have an effect on ED like it has on many others? There are legitimate questions ED have to answer, starting with why they waited until release day to announce a further delay. You don't have to agree, you just have to see it from someone else's point of view. There have already been posts from new players, utterly bewildered about what's going on, and it could have all been avoided. Insulting people who raise these points helps no-one, including ED who you feel the need to 'defend'. Most people who you consider moaners don't do it for the fun of it, they just want things to be better.
Jarhead0331 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Oh well what a shame. Maybe you can go and play with some of your other toys until SC module is ready? That is a ridiculous response to a serious, mature expression of another person’s opinion. What are you, 12?
Beirut Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Ever thought that whats going on in the world at the moment may have an effect on ED like it has on many others? Of course. And as a crapton of people are out of work, money is tight, and paying customers are at a premium - unless you're selling toilet paper or MREs - it would seem like a very good time to be extra nice to those customers who are shelling out the cash. Even if that "extra nice" amounts only to good communications. I can accept delays, it's fine. But this could have been handled a bit better. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
Sonoda Umi Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 If SP flyers are in the majority, and the product the SP flyers bought and paid for works for them, I don't see why we have to wait for what we bought simply because the other guy - who holds the minority view - can't use it exactly the way he wants. More specifically, it needs more clarification that so called "bugs" considerably affect whether gameplay MP mode only or SP not play smoothly as well.
Larkis Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 There are legitimate questions ED have to answer, starting with why they waited until release day to announce a further delay. There is an easy answer. They thought they could make it in time. They allways said "they aim on the 15th". That means there are bugs that would prevent a release but they are confident to fix them in time.
DW2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 That is a ridiculous response to a serious, mature expression of another person’s opinion. What are you, 12?I think it's a pretty good and accurate response to the amount of whinging going on regarding this subject. By the way totally off on the age LMAO

That means there are bugs that would prevent a release but they are confident to fix them in time. You are of course perfectly entitled to see it that way. However please accept that other people may not be persuaded by that argument, given a delay of potentially up to 6 weeks was unlikely to be solved at the last minute. It didn't help that only yesterday we were being told not to be pessimistic .
Beirut Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 More specifically, it needs more clarification that so called "bugs" considerably affect whether gameplay MP mode only or SP not play smoothly as well. Yep. It was not well thought out to state the delay as a MP issue and then stick it on the SP crowd. Any idea what the percentage of DCS customers fly MP? Over at IL2 I think the SP flyers are 80%+. But I could be wrong. But if it's like that here, telling the 80% they have to wait for the 20%, well... maybe not a great idea. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
DBFlyguy Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 They did a play test over the weekend supposedly, that means they knew by Monday, probably Sunday there were major show stopping issues. Instead of just saying that Monday, they try to misdirect all day Tuesday with "news soon" nonsense. They post up a list of goals that are equally as unlikely to be hit and we're just supposed to be like, "yep, we believe you'll meet these goals" .... its absolute foolishness. "Straighten up and fly right"

DW2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 yeah, its probably closer to 13-14Mathematics is obviously not your strong point
DW2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Anyways folks it's been real fun reading everyones comments on here but it's time to face a few facts: 1. SuperCarrier has been delayed NOT cancelled 2. The developers and the development company in general don't want to release it until THEY feel it's ready for release 3. No amount of users whinging about it is likely to influence ED to release the product until they feel it's ready. Let's all enjoy DCS with what we currently have available and look forward to forthcoming modules and terrains :-)

Flamin_Squirrel Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 3. No amount of users whinging about it is likely to influence ED to release the product until they feel it's ready. Agreed. But no amount of you having a dig at people is going to improve their view of ED either, so please don't.

They are not legitimate questions unless you happen to work for ED or have a seat on the board that has an input on a possible release date. You have your information from ED, move on and await the module, it is not that difficult. I am not defending or insulting anyone, but thank you for pointing out I do not have to agree with someone else's opinion, but i have to see it from their point of view, similar to the way you replied to me, not. The module is delayed, 20 pantie twisting moaners on a internet forum will not change that, live with it. How much longer, Ops? The engine’s overheating and so am I. We either stand down or blow up.
