I actually managed to glitch into the FLIR DDI page last night after a repair/restart. I wish I had a track file or had OBS running at the time, because I can't remember exactly how it happened.

Nothing worked except de-clutter, but the placeholder is hidden in the OB version.

yes and it appeared on a FB post few days ago also with an external screenshot... HOWEVER, first time we see this actually loaded onto the jet and "featured" in one of Wags' videos.

on the FB post it's mentioned that it will be first released on the central station and later there will be the option to move it to the cheek station also :)

why is it "flir"? and not "liten" or "tpod"? doesn't it have normal tv imaging?

The MSI was showing up on the radar too. You hear the RWR pick up a new contact and show on the radar page at the same time with RWR symbology.

I’ve learned his style now. Always look for the eggs in his cooked up videos.

As much as I remember we're getting the Litening Pod with the same functionalities as the one on the A-10C. So it should also have a TV camera, not FLIR only.

Maybe its just a leftover from AN/AAS-38 "Nitehawk?

Regardless of the pod type, it's always listed as FLIR on the DDI pages.

Thanks

Does that mean it has new features? Infrared image projected on HUD? Like AV8B?

It's just the nomenclature used in the jet's software. Don't make assumptions based on that.

I have no info on that but i assume it is because the jet was designed for the navy with the ATFLIR in mind. Only because the USMC also equipped it with the Litening, the software didn't change...

Hey Wags, question if you don't mind--from a pilot / aircraft software perspective, is there any difference at all in the Litening vs. ATFLIR?

Which is the best thing about it. No asymmetrical masking anymore, no imbalance either (I don't like roll trim in DCS, because one tap is always too much and no tap is not enough...). And you can still bring 2 Slammers. Just need to fly more eco.

BTW I just wonder when they plan to give it to us. Must be in two weeks (June 19), because two weeks after that is July already. So much for "moving Hornet updates to a monthly event", but I guess this is just because things will come when they'll be ready.

This is a code that represents a target pod other than a non-navigational/LST pod.Similarly, if AAS-38 is mounted, it will be FLIR. Although AAS-38b includes LST pod function.

Navigation pod AAR-50 is shown as NFLIR

I’m sure I missed it somewhere, but do we know if the initial release of the Litening is going to include INS integration? i.e. mark point functionality, designation for IGMs, etc. I know the INS is currently getting beefed up but I am just curious if the TGP was only planned for optics and laser designation initially. Either way, I am very much looking forward to this addition. Simply trying to keep my expectations rooted in reality.
