Taz1004, I really enjoy this mod so far, looks really nice. Fire on aircraft ground collision looks a little big for me. Can you please tell me which file and line governs it so I can make it a bit smaller for myself if you may?

Probably same one as vehicle smoke.  And you can decrease length but will probably break flame.  Like I've said earlier, changing one will likely break another attribute.

@Taz1004I'm a great fan of your work - thank you for continuous updates!

If I may comment on the wavy motion of smoke in v12 - it's a great idea, but it feels a little bit exaggerated - is there any way to tune it down, or is there a limitation on what it can be?

I didn't create the wavy motion.  I actually turned it down from default.  It's called perturbation factor or something in smoke.fx

Just tried it for a few mins today, and for me it's shimmering like a boss. Any ideas?

No idea.  Never seen that before.  Post a track and the mission?

  • Taz1004 changed the title to Better Smoke V13 for DCS 2.7

UPDATED to V13

Updated crater textures.  The new crater textures were 3 sets (diffuse, normal, roughmet) of 2048x2048 resolution 32bit textures.  Used to be 256x256 8bit in 2.5.6.  So I shrunk them way down and 8bit.  I hope this is proof enough that higher bit depth and resolution doesn't necessarily equate to better quality.

This seems to be IC safe based on my testing so both MP and SP are updated.  But some reported IC issue last time even tho it worked on my end so if you run into IC issue with MP version, please let me know.

Wow, impressive, as always!!

Did you also tweak the craters on runways? As I remember, since 2.7 they were not bad at all...

I saw this on today's patch notes

  • Effects. Updated smoke presets.

So I thought they mean vehicle smoke presets so I looked through the files and those are not changed.  Instead, they fixed tank/truck smokes.  Which I'm glad by the way.  Less mod the better.  Everything's same except color which I thought they tried to be more compatible with desert maps and while it looks good close up, I think it's actually harder to see from distance.

I'm not going to update the mod just so we'd have more options.  If you want the new default tank/truck dust, just delete following files from the mod.  They're located in: /Bazar/PartcleEffects/effects/

TankDust.lua

TankDustLow.lua

TankDirt.lua

VehicleDust.lua

R/Clicking link-open in new tab for 2.7 files does nothing. Also if you try to save target as Google Chrome browser gives warning zip file can't be downloaded securely.

Since Google was hacked recently, instead of improving their security, they decided to declare entire internet unsafe.  Only sites with SSL certificate to have "secured" rating.

I'm not gonna pay $100-$200 a year for SSL certificate especially since Google, Facebook, and many global SSL certified sites are still being hacked with SSL.

And there are misconception about SSL.  All it does is encrypt data in transit.  So it's difficult for hacker to intercept.  While this is important if you're accessing your online banking for example, it doesn't detect malware.  If you download virus, it will be encrypted virus.  Malware detection is done on your computer with or without SSL.

I have now switched over to Edge.  New Edge is based on Chromium so performs as well as Chrome.  But has much better privacy setting without these nuisance of Chrome.  I can restrict data collection which I couldn't with Chrome.  And better integration with Windows.  It does use more RAM however.
