dust partical effects DCS World

tank movements aircraft jetwash helo rotorwash and artillery rocket fire dust effects..

imo this needs seasonal color settings , summer richer brown dust partical effects , winter will be snow dusting, wet conditions less dusting effects but more water vapour,

aircrafts take off and helos in wet concretes water moisture effects from thrust.

option to disable and enable these effects in GUI , or options.LUA file.

I would like to see bi more work done on trees/forest blending with background in the deistance, currently in winter I find forest blends very nicely and I can't see any sudden stop but in summer textures and spring I think also, they have distinct edge and it's very clear where the forests stop being drawn in the world.

Also I would like to see flares bit nicer with nice smoke and in my opinion the flares don't have enough drag, I think they should decelerate very suddenly once dropped from the cartridge.

Wish: Sonic booms

I wish for Sonic booms, shock waves, and the condensation cloud around the plane when it passes through the barrier

Well, methinks you worry about something else if you break the sound barrier in an A-10C, Ka-50 or P-51. :joystick:

The condensation effect would need a more sophisticated atmosphere model to be simulated realistically, it would need to take humidity into effect.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

I did not quite realize that. Since there are no adjustable parameters for that in the ME (except fog - visually), it is quite obvious, but I thought it to be an implicitly calculated feature of the dynamic weather.

Has this ever been done before in a commercial flight simulator or related software? Didn´t find any evidence of that with outerra or X-Plane.

If a dedicated "Monster Server" were to run the suggested features and calculate the sum of effects without additional rendering and optimized for the multithreaded CPUs, the individual clients would just have to be fed the output and rather need bandwidth than CPU-Power for anything beyond AFM and what there is now...

I´m no expert on this whatsoever.

I really like that notion of this being a rather multiplayer/online-oriented system...

Creating a new genre - the strategy simulator.

No, not that i know of. I suspect that there are quite a few intricacies involved and that there is little gain from doing it.

Looking at various youtube vids, I noticed there is something 'lacking' for russian aircrafts: the smoke out of the burners. Really, have you seen a Mig29 or Su-27/33 taking off? It's smoking like a coal driven power station...

Sound, buffeting, shaking,vapor, rain

Surprisingly, these things are present, in one way or another, in almost any sim (Falcon BMS/FF, FSX, Il-2), but not in DCS, which easily excels in pretty much every other aspect of simulation.

The sound of air crashing on the airframe at high speed, when pulling Gs or high alpha is an absolute must not only for immersion and realism, but for the practical purpose of knowing how much to pull on the stick. This is evident in the P-51, where it's really easy to stall during a dogfight because there is no feedback of the upcoming stall. The A-10 would greatly benefit from this as well as any other aircraft that will be implemented. Every R/L pilot will tell you how these sounds are a major aspect of flight in any aircraft.

Wing vapor when pulling Gs...greatly missed in DCS/FC

Buffeting and shaking effects near stall speed and when firing cannons or dropping bombs, we've all seen those A-10 HUD videos and how much the thing shakes when the GAU8 is firing.

The smoke from guns/cannons is a bit weird in external view, it seems to move in slo motion and "stick" to the airplane while the trigger is pulled, and suddenly disappear behind when the trigger is released. I'd like to see a nice smoke trail when firing the cannon in the A-10.

Rain effects on canopy.

The P-51 is still a WIP. See the according post regarding status.

Edit: Also note that the P-51 is notorious for having little buffet before the stall.

Well we've all seen how much the video camera is shaking, are you sure the pilot moves the same?

Surely not, but since the camera is attached to the HUD mount, this gives you a good idea of how much the whole cockpit is shaking. Surely the pilot can see it (and feel it) shaking, pretty much like you see the dashboard of your car shaking when you drive over gravel.

Well, then it’s up to the "guessing" how the shaking affects the pilot and cockpit. I'm not sure that will result in something useful but rather some annoying and incorrect modeling. And with regards of time to market for other aircrafts I will say skip this and go for the F/A-18 instead.

That's no more guessing work than the one gone into effects like the shaking you get when rolling on the runway, which is already implemented.

It's about giving a feeling, not about the exact number of hertz the vibration is occurring at.

Not everyone has a full motion cockpit mounted on a centrifuge :)

Agreed, I've always wanted to see this implemented for a10. It's one of the first things real world a10 pilots mention when asked about the gun.

*I'm really bad at math*... assuming 3,900 rounds per minute, the a10 should vibrate at about 65 hertz.

Doesn't the a10 in lock on vibrate when you fire the gun?

Missions menu

Since this weekend we now have multiple planes in DCS World. I like the path ED has taken for future developments. It will be much easier to overlook the total environment.

For the training there is a menu to select training per plane.

I feel that we are going to need a menu to select missions per plane also. Maybe even with a submenu per plane for user created missions.

The missions should already be in files sorted by what airframe they are for.

Oh, for the love of a good woman

The Panavia Tornado GR4 is what I want next for my DCS World, not that bloody awful F3. Come on ED, next big thing, eh? Surely someone must agree here, all the other main characters have been done before so why do we want them all over again.

MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case |

+ 1. We're still facing the possible conundrum of the 2 pit dilemma ... situation ... thingy :D.

I have fond memories od IDS's Panavia Tornado. It had the best mission editor of its time (stilll holds up to the standards of today IMO).

The Tornado GR x is definitely one of the all time classic jets of historical significance, and it's just too cool for words.

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!
