FalcoGer Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 You fly around for a 10 minutes and the next time you look down the standby SAI looks like that. It's completely worthless. 1

FalcoGer Posted October 3, 2021 Author Posted October 3, 2021 (edited) I reset it and flew again for like 30 minutes. It was pretty windy and I did some light maneuvering. But surely it isn't supposed to end up 60° climb and 170° right roll after that. It's just ridiculous how unreliable this piece of crap is. You might as well leave it caged and not use it, at which point you might wonder what the point is in having the thing in the cockpit at all. The main ADI works fine and never drifted any noticeable amount for me. Why is this one so garbage? Edited October 3, 2021 by FalcoGer 1
FalcoGer Posted October 4, 2021 Author Posted October 4, 2021 I just flew straight and level after resetting the damn thing and literally 30 seconds later it gave me 10° climb when my nose was 10° dive. 1G the whole time.

And then you recorded a track out of it to make sure devs would be able to reproduce the bug and fix it, right? 1 ---
PickleMonster Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Does it really need a track? It's very easy to repeat as it drifts off very quickly. The Backup ADI has been pretty much useless for years now and is fairly well known by anyone who's flown the Black Shark for a while. 1
Flappie Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I've flown the beast since BS1 came out, yet I never saw this. I must not be worthy. Anyway, I'll give it a go. 1 ---
FalcoGer Posted October 5, 2021 Author Posted October 5, 2021 (edited) It happens 100% of the time. You can literally take any black shark track where the thing actually flies for more than 10 minutes and has the ADI turned on and uncaged. I fly multiplayer only and there are no track files. Besides that it's not my job to invest time in reproducing bugs that are easily reproduced by the steps outlined in my bug reports. That's EDs job. Unless of course they want to pay me. Vakarian Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 With the attitude like that, you might as well avoid the forums in a first place

I have flown BS1 since it came out and it has been discussed since then. I saw it. I might have even reported it. Standby ADI has always been like that. Devs have directly said "don't uncage it, it's not supposed to be uncaged until you have an electrical failure." Seems weird to me. 1

Seems weird to me.That makes sense, but I'm pretty sure you uncage it in the cold start training mission. And all hotstart missions have it uncaged. I'll just stop doing it. Flappie Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Here's a track showing the SAI drift. It took me about 10 minutes to see the drift. I've just discovered this issue has been reported some time ago, which means ED acknowloedged something was not right. This issue might get fixed someday. Ka-50_SAI_drift_10min.trk ---

PickleMonster Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 I'm not sure I even want it fixed now. It's become part of the KA-50's quirky personality. 1
Chump Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 I like to see if I can get crazy enough to re-center it with maneuvering rather than resetting it! Kind of like using your ABRIS as an etch-a-sketch! 1
MortalMando Posted August 4 Posted August 4 (edited) It is August 2024 and this issue persists. There is still a strong drift happening without heavy maneuver after about 10 min - leading up to a point where it becomes useless to use NavTGT points. Even with the option in the ME “no alignment and fix point taking needed” the standby ADI has strong drift after a while. @Flappiecan you update us un the issue? edit: Ok i have to peddle back a little. It is after all highly dependent on your speed and holds up more accurate if more from static firing positions then running fire attacks. Still perhaps its over done a litte? The option in the ME to deactivate alignment and fixtaing needed, should in my opinion eliminate drift as well. Its a gamey thing anyways to have that option - there should be no reason to have the system not eliminating nav error when checked. Edited August 4 by MortalMando
