MattCri
Im referring to this and the others few 2.7.6 to 2.7.7 performance degradation discussions, i was one of the affected guys reporting. After today's update the issue is solved for me, i will do some more detailed testing in the next days but i have at least 90% the fps i had back in 2.7.6. Im curious of other people reports and i would love some tech explaination of the solution from the developers (if possible) Anyway, big thanks for listening to us! 2

deep
This update is excellent for me - all my fps back and perhaps even a bit more on first impressions. You don't really appreciate what you have until it's gone - many thanks ED!

Miksuu
My FPS is up 10-20% according to the benchmark comparing to the 2.7.8. Also it's not only the benchmark, on multiplayer it seems that on the ground at least I can get like 30% more fps. Awesome work ED! PLUTON
here also 2.7.9 fps better than 2.7.8 but with the M2000c and the mirrors open very big drop in fps to the point that the game becomes unplayable and as soon as I remove them the fps resumes its normal speed

Boosterdog
The main 2.7.9 patch made the issue of the flat shadow render (even when default terrain shadows are selected) maginally worse but returned the fps to 2.7.6 levels. The hotfix took away some of the regained fps in certain scenaros for me but not in huge amounts. 2.7.6 is still a little faster in basic fps but I dont think thats the whole story as the VR players seem to be testifying. If it were a stick or twist between 2.7.6 and 2.7.9 the latter wins hands down for me. Pyker
On a lower-end PC, which version is preferable, 2.7.9 or 2.5.6 ? I tried to roll back to 2.5.5 because my GPU is old, but ED won’t let me log in in that version. So I may have to revert to 2.5.6 if 2.7.9 is too demanding. That’s OK, I put all settings except Textures on ‘Low’ or ´off’ anyway. And I’ve already bought more modules (and zero during the last 12 months) than I can play with. Now downloading 2.5.6... ED Team m4ti140 Posted January 8, 2022 ED Team Share Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) For me the issue is partially solved. When trying to optimize my FPS I noticed that I get lower FPS with terrain object shadows OFF than with terrain object shadows set to FLAT. Which is weird. Even more bizarrely, the FPS drops when disabling terrain object shadows even with shadows otherwise completely OFF. I wanted to have only the cockpit shadows and flat vehicle shadows enabled, but this issue prevents me from doing so. This is in current stable. pixie
At this moment, which one gives the best FPS between low and flat shadows on terrain ? I think there was an issue recently with flat rendering. Was it resolved with the latest patch ?
