Eisprinzessin Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 (edited) can anyone confirm that compsite is a frameloss for now with the Pimax? Edited November 1, 2022 by Eisprinzessin Specs: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K 3.20 GHz, RAM 128 GB, Win11 Home, RTX3080Ti
Thanatos31 Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Quick question: does anyone have experience when going from a G2 reverb to a pimax 8kx when trying to use Openxr? the reverb works with openxr ; when I try to switch to the 8kx - I only get a “black screen” both on the desktop mirror as well as in the headset. (Pimax open zur toolkit is installed) am I missing a step like deleting something or resetting? Ganesh Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) Here are the experiences on my attempts so far: G2 10900k 64GB 3090ti * OXR @60Hz -> NO! Too much flicker for my brain, no sunglasses helps. But everything else would be perfect! * OXR w/o repro -> terribly jerky terrain only at sideview, but all good straight forward as well as on moving objects. * OXR with Repro -> stable terrain at all view aspects, but ghosting & artifacts on moving objects. Wobbling optics when flying through clouds and on some MFD screens. * SVR w/o Repro -> Bad visuals. Dull and pale overall appearance (like back then without reshade) more aliasing. Everything else is perfect, no stutters, artifacts or ghosting whether on the ground or in the air (moving objects). * SVR with Repro -> Same as above So i stay on OXR with MRP and live with the artifacts. It seems like the best compromise. But in case anyone has an explanation/solution for this? Bring it on I might try SVR again with a reshader, but 5-10 FPS loss on SVR will remain, at least for now. mbucchia Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 There are some upcoming changes to the Motion Reprojection algorithm in the WMR OpenXR runtime that will help reduce artifacts. No release date unfortunately since the end of the year is always very busy with the holidays. 6 I wasn't banned, but this account is mostly inactive and not monitored.
edmuss Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Update to openxr toolkit, not tested all functionality yet as I'm working away from home. New experimental turbo mode has been added, this can increase performance in certain circumstances. I've seen up to 15fps increase at times. Only works without reprojection. Also CAS sharpening so you don't need to enable FSR to sharpen. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/ 1 2 Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.

Wali763 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 (edited) Since Im experiencing some brief freezes (<1s with partly black screens) since 2.8 I "restested" SVR again. For me its still far worse than OpenXR. With the same settings, OpenXR looks IMO a bit better (less aliasing) but offers much more fps. But - I assume - this could be due to using an AMD-GPU (6800XT) in my system. It seems AMD-Gpus dont get utilized fully when using MR/Repro. In fpsVR I always had only ~70% GPU-utilization with Repro on. For me the best mode is OpenXR with Repro off and RadeonChill capping fps to 47fps. This way the image looks reasonably smooth, but I do get ghosting with objects that move fast like a passing aircraft or objects when flying over them. But thats acceptable for me. When testing SVR I did not have those new 2.8 freezes. Testing OpenXR after that did show no freezes for a few minutes. But at the first freeze DCS overall crashed. Need to restest this though more thorougly. In short: OpenXR for me still is the best compromise for VR in DCS. If you decide on a GPU for DCS Id prefer Nvidia. Its just a personal thing, that I do not want to use Nvidia and since there is only one real alternative right now... 2.8 for me right now is causing problems. I will have to watch this and maybe have to revert to 2.7. Edited November 3, 2022 by Wali763 1

Mr_sukebe Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 (edited) Still rocking with OpenXR, but have questions about upscaling, using either NIS or FSR. With either upscaling method, I’m seeing the following: - on the Gulf map, since 2.8, the water has weird boxes in it? No issues with the land or clouds - on the channel map, I went out last night for a nighttime flight, with moonlight and clouds. With upscaling, cloud that were close in, had massive banding of colours. Upscaling off, and it was mostly gone i appreciate this is NOT an OpenXR issue, just curious if anyone else had experiences the same. I have opened a thread about the Gulf map water, including a video Edited November 3, 2022 by Mr_sukebe 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
