Im slightly concerned that it seems like Vr is now considered a nonfactor off topic discussion. They talk about advancing Vr and ive seen improvement in Vr so why would something that I consider a significant branch of DCS end up getting tossed here?

It make it feel like "yeah **** it Vr isnt worth it any more lets hide it and hope it goes away" and let people know that its off topic thing now dont discuss it.

I must admit I've had  hard time finding it a few times when I forget where they put it. It certainly is not an "Input Device"

Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS;

Pimax Crystal Light

I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings

With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

Sure thats fine...The issue is... Im concerned about a shift in ED's attitude towards VR. They aren't going to say we are done with it but they may choose phase it out slow so VR users drop off 1 by 1 and it goes away. Now I dont know if thats what is occurring but this is a red flag that maybe indicating a shift towards that kind of attitude. The entire VR section is now stuffed in a "yeah whatever" category  After the MT updates and openXr improvements I would expect VR to get a dedicated "VR" link right under "DCS WORLD 2.8" OR at least at the end of the list under "DCS World Topic" but it got this instead...Dev cost vs profit numbers are in? "off topic" is now the attitude towards VR?

Yeah I found it concerning as well, ridiculous that they moved it to where it is here now. All the work they have done to help improve VR and now treating at least the VR forum like a red headed step child. DCS is a shining star for VR and I hope it stays that way. Without VR my DCS days would be over. ED jumped on the VR train relatively early and I was so glad to see them do it, just hope their commitment to it remains unchanged.

I can tell already the daily activity on the VR forum has dropped off since moving it here.

Holy smokes, I found the forum!  WTH?!  They stuck it into a hidden little corner of the site.

I used to come to the DCS VR forum because of the posts, but agree, it seems like things have dropped off.

I cannot believe this.

For me its like saying HOTAS is a "nice to have", optional hardware.

Flying without it, will never be the same.

Input devices was in the DCS core area, and this is not correct as it is hardware so was moved.

I will speak to Nineline about making the VR section more visible or at least having a redirect so it can be seen easier.

thanks

VR is hardware, truth; regardless most of VR´s problems come from its SW implementation.

On the other hand, VR capability is DCS´s the core feature for all VR pilots.

Please move it out of the input device section, at least. Maybe one level higher - same level as Input Devices?!

I didn't know what all the fuss was about at first as I have always googled "DCS VR forums".

Moreover, I don't think ED would dare move away from VR, clearly it is the future and uncle Sam agrees:

We have no plans to move away from vr, it was just a reshuffle of hardware related threads.

Thank you for prompt response to our voice!

Moving VR under somewhere, seems "technically correct" as of catalog. But VR already became part of essential experince of DCS as matter of fact. Many of us won't invest so much time without emersiveness.

So pls do consider to make it more visible/accessable somewhere (better still tier 1 under DCS 2.8). So people could continue keeping it active as it should be. Thank you ED team.

Nice. This is good to hear.

yes Vr is hardware but as stated by others it is a core feature and does not belong in "off topic" for many there is no difference between DCS and VR. By that i mean Vr is not a mouse or keyboard or video card or monitor.... it IS DCS. Without VR there is no DCS and unlike a mouse, keyboard, or even a gpu DCS is being updated and those updates directly effect VR on a core level to the point were it won't even load unless you make sure to read whats changed and you can then implement those changes on your end... This is never the case with typical off topic hardware.

Finally unlike typical hardware VR is changing very quickly so each day you visit there is a real possiblity that something new has arrived or changed (hardware or software) no other hardware has rates of change like this.

The proper home, IMHO, would be in...

Home-> English-> Digital Combat Simulator-> DCS World 2.8-> DCS World Core Features-> VR

VR is every bit the "Core Feature" that multiplayer, multi-display, voice chat, etc.. are.

However, If ED wants to train the mice to find the cheese somewhere else, I'm sure we'll all learn the new maze even if it doesn't really make sense... we have to eat of course:)

I guess what ED is thinking is we're not talking about VR the DCS feature, we're talking about the 3rd party hardware/software that connects us to that feature. - we're just a joystick in the stream of life:(

But hey, maybe VR is no core feature any more for ED. Who knows...

Let number talks.

VR topic alone is 95.9k posts which tops every single “core feature” under 2.8. BTW seems a few core features shall be relocated as those only have 100-200posts if they were not newly added.

Agree the location a few people proposed above, and VR could be changed to VR Experience. It’s not ONLY piece of HW itself, but anything related VR in DCS.

"VR topic alone is 95.9k posts" true and mostly are rinse and repeat because some want answers handed to them on a plate and look no further then there nose.

That being said It would be nice if we had a VR section all on it's own so new & old VR users can jump straight in, personally have a link straight to the VR section.

It's just another brain-dead forum reorg. VR encompasses both hardware and software, and I have to say it probably fits more in the latter category.

@BIGNEWY, could we please have a poll on whether all the recent-ish changes for the forum are actually for the better? Because they aren't. They degrade usability for no discernable benefit other than "the front page looks nicer". We should go back to the way it was before, where things were organized the more or less same as the Russian forum now is. Let's stop sacrificing usability to placate someone's sense of aesthetics.

And no, it's not me not liking change. This is me not liking getting an objective change for worse shoved down my throat. You can get used to a crappy layout, but you shouldn't have to.
