Many of us nordic and scandinavian DCS players are looking forward to the Kola Map -if it would release one day. The latest and only news on this is from september 22 in the Orbx subforum, so it would be nice if anyone could provide an little update on this one.

We did get a tease of an update from (presumably) the Orbx Discord (posted in the unofficial roadmap thread). But yes, very much looking forward to the Kola map - it's easily my most anticipated map by a long shot.

Perhaps now that this forum has finally been opened after all this time suggests that we might be closer to getting an update?

Not only those players, I'm in South America and the Viggen is one of my favorite aircrafts, I'm looking forward to flying on the Kola Map ... in fact, I will skip Sinai to save the $$ towards the purchase of Kola 🙂

Missed that update, thanks!  Probably drooling too much over the F-4 just below it but I agree this is my most anticipated map as well.

Each developer has a different approach. Some report the progress, while others do it silently. Looking forward for this map! btw, the fact that the forum has been opened is a good sign.

Be good to see them make a realistic campaign for the Viggen, seeing as it's local to the area.

Agreed! Would love to see this map used with the Viggen and Tomcat. It seems by far the best Cold War setting we will have in the game.

Completely unenthused for yet another 21st century TGP smart bomb plinking campaign.

edit: not implying anything about BD, Reflected or their previous campaigns. They are the best thing this game has going for it. My comment was aimed at the choice of aircraft and the way they seem to be inevitably employed in DCS.

I would love to see a remake of the campaign for Jane's F/A-18 once the map comes out. I know the original is the Super Hornet and not the Legacy Hornet we have but thats fine. One of my favorite user files campaigns is a remake of the Iran campaign from Jane's F-15 (albeit it is modified to use the F-14).

Oh!
Mildly interresting:
The USS Gerald R. Ford was on Norwegian tour in the start of June. That was a majestic sight in Norwegian fjords.

Very much adopting the Heatblur approach!. Which many are glad to see.
Heatblur release constantly top notch polished content as they seem to not be rushed.

I can only wish the same for other modules / developers.... cough cough F15E....

The Kola map is a different beast from the rest, since those are mostly desert, ocean, or both.

I'm worried about whether Santa Claus' house will be built near Rovaniemi airport. It would definitely be necessary to put an air defense system there.😅

Yeah, I hope we get it as the decoy it is.
Everyone knows that Santa really lives on the North Pole.
