Devil 505 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 @tobi @Eight Ball I figured I would start posting all my Cayuse videos here as well as our thread so you see how prevalent your module has been to the community. I stopped posting on here because I did not want to take up thread space with our content, but after the scuttle with some unappreciative community members, I want you guys to see your hard work at play and know that this is our weekly Helo that keeps the Jungle alive on our server as well as the dedicated servers people are putting up with our mission and your helo. You have literally turned single player virtual pilots into multiplayer scouts. DCS Afghanistan and Iraq need the same thing with the Little Bird. Dont give up on us gents! 8
Mutton Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) I'd obviously love it if you guys continued but let me say you've done an awesome job and deserve whatever length of time off you require. Do the things that make you happy. I wasn't planning to show anything so early on, but you inspired me to design an opensource DIY cockpit project for your OH6A. It's WIP but I'll be bold enough to say it's not vaporware. Below are pics of some of the prototypes. working idle detent ring the panel is cut with a diode laser but the rest just needs a 3D printer or service and basic tools Edited March 3 by Mutton 15
Tonker Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Oh stop it...I like it! Also very much the sort of thing people like AuthentiKit (open-source 3DP replica flight controls for DCS) and their community might be interest in, if you fancied reaching out. Regardless, that's bleddy impressive, please keep us updated 2 Nah, I've only just met 'er...:pilotfly:
Devil 505 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 @tobi @Eight Ball Where you at boys!!!! Check out the enthusiasm above! it is all because of you. We need some hope here the Empire did not win this war. 6
Andrew8604 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 This OH-6A is the only aircraft I've experienced in DCS where, when flying in VR with the doors off and turning, I sometimes get a sensation like I could fall out of this thing and it's a long way down! I love flying it! I was flying a night mission last night in VR. The Moon was low, and I could barely see anything outside, or inside, just the glow of the instruments and console. I was maybe 200 feet above the trees with the crack of radar directed 100mm flak shells going off above me. And I could hear the popping rotor of an AI Huey close by somewhere, and dark, "Is he above me or below me...or at my altitude?" Don't want to go lower, don't want to go higher. "What are we doing out here?" I put my nav lights and red beacon on for a few moments! Yikes! Then I hear on the radio, "Colt 5-1 engaging triple-A at bulls 225 for 22." You're doing what?? Need some parachute flare rockets. But I made it out of there and headed back to base on an approximate heading, flying mostly by instruments. Stray a little too far north or south and red 57mm tracers come up from the ground, several miles away. I can see those things arc under me and flash with bit of thunder. But I landed safely at my base, 25 miles away, where the headlights of a Mutt (from Eight Ball & Tobi's Vietnam Assets Pack) were illuminating my landing pad on an unlit airfield in the Channel map. I'll be damned if Colt 5-1 didn't make it back to base 15 minutes after I did. To the makers of this mod: thanks! 5
SparrowLT Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) I hope this gets follow up but whatever the case i profundly thank you for the work and this module.. Cause it helped me get into DCS Helicopters.. allways wanted the Huey and eventually the Kiowa but was allways afraid of them .. the OH-6 teached me to fly helicopters, made me get pedals ..and from there also to MSFS . Im allways recomending this module specially if they want to get into helos.. "its twitchy" yes it is.. but when you understand how to fly it you will have no problem with any other helicopter.. and its not a "its so hard that you get good" case.. this thing has a better refined flight model than the new Huey at least..once you get it trimmed and set correctly this cruises so nice and in no time you end up landing in ridicolous spots. So whatever happens thanks Edited March 4 by SparrowLT 5
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Please help somebody who may be new to this thread, or get very confused after reading in the past few days. 1. Is this module OH-6A stopped being developed? 2. Or is the AH-6A? 3. Would we still see the Little Bird teased earlier? Thank you. 1 I Fly, Therefore I Am. One cannot go around not saying "Thank you" every time these days, can't you? YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc9BDi-STaqgWsjNiHbW0fA
Tonker Posted March 4 Posted March 4 If they've read the thread there's nothing to be confused about: no active development for lack of motivation, followed by a show of support for the devs to boost morale, if not motivation. Go easy gents. The devs haven't ceased to exist and they know where we are. I know all this comes from a good place, but we've no right to a response in a particular timeframe. The point is to offer support, not demand it. Every time we tag them in a post, every question asked, every attempt to engage on our terms not theirs, we may well be making it harder for them. We don't know what's up, but we know where we're at so let's hang tight and continue to enjoy this amazing bit of digital craftsmanship The guys'll be back when they can, and we'll be here for them. 14 1 Nah, I've only just met 'er...:pilotfly:

Slippa Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Just wanted to make sure Mutton’s following the correct guidelines and protocol while continuing his work seen above. We wouldn’t want to see that amount of design and building being done without the prerequisite ‘Magnum Moustache’ and Hawaiian shirt & flip-flops. Proper Lab conditions, health & safety n all that. Well done for doing this Mutton but please, let’s be careful out there ok . 4

The OH-6 is in a good and enjoyable state. There will be support for this but no further features are planned for now. A/MH-6 is cancelled 9 2

Esac_mirmidon Posted March 5 Posted March 5 (edited) Any hope to share at least the assets developed? I mean the SOP soldiers, even being static ones. With some skin Magic we can simulate the MH-6 and with the static SOP soldiers as cargo for the helicopter most of us will be pleased. Just share the option for SOP soldiers to the OH-6 cargo options. Thanks for consider this whish Edited March 5 by Esac_mirmidon 1 " You must think in russian.." Sounds like there is no changing your minds, but I will make one last ditch attempt to say whatever someone said about your project that set you off, there are far more of us that respect your work and time you dedicated to this community. You left a footprint in the DCS community I wish you were not so quick to leave. We had high hopes for what you had in mind next. If you do not mind me asking, what sim are you leaving DCS for? 1

I don't think you can talk about leaving quickly here. I was thinking about for several month now. I have put a lot of my free time into these topics for more than 5 years. I have written an exporter that has made many other mods possible, I have helped with many mods and even if it was only small things and there is still a complete helicopter with good quality for a piece of software given as a gift, which does not get any new features for the time being but is still maintained. I think that's more than one should ask for. I can at least say that I can go into modding retirement with a clear conscience. 10 12

Slippa Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I reckon you’ll still have to scratch the itch Tobi. Maybe not right now but with the skills you have, I reckon you’ll wanna tinker again at some point. Let’s hope so anyway. Thanks for giving us what you have already, tea and medals for the pair of ya. You’ve done absolute wonders, be proud. Thank you. 4
waterman Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) I love the oh-6a thankyou. Also Eightball's Fantastic Railway Assets Pack was what inspired me to have a go at a mod. I used it to learn how to get Locomotives Wagons Coaches into DCS - So a big Thankyou to Eightball . Tobi`s Blender EDM Exporter is my go to proven reliable method to create pain free working EDM files for DCS every time. I managed to get the Krupp K5 working as a Train wagon and a Tank in DCS by using the settings in the EDM Exporter. - So thats a Massive Thankyou to Tobi . These 2 items are used loved and enjoyed every day by users all over the world. I live just north of Brisbane in Australia and we have the EYE of CYCLONE ALFRED Visiting us tomorrow from the Coral Sea with 180kph winds 12 metre waves and a metre of rain ! Here is something Eightball and Tobi can do now they have some spare time take up surfing. The waves are so big they use jet skis to tow you up to speed to catch the waves - Nice drone flying you dont want to put the camera down in that surf ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E87uG_0yf5s Edited March 6 by waterman 6
dali Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Thank you both for all the time you have invested into this. Rest assured, there are many, many of us who enjoy it and highly appreciate your work. 4

Life changes and there are many more important things than a dcs mod. But it would be fair to the community that loves your and Eightball's mods to make them open source so other talented modders can continue the work of you two. 1 ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming, AMD Ryzen 5800X, 64 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000, ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 6800 XT, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe 250 GB (OS), Corsair MP600 PRO LPX M.2 NVMe 2 TB (DCS World), Gigabyte G27QC Gaming Monitor, DelanClip Gamer, WINWING F-16EX Metal Flightstick with Orion2 Joystick Base, WINWING F-15EX II Metal Throttle with Orion2 Throttle Base, WINWING PTO 2 Take Off Panel, VIRPIL Controls Ace Flight Pedals, Buddy-Fox A-10C UFC, Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack, Windows 10 Pro
plott1964 Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) While I agree with you in spirit, I would say that is a tough decision to make. Tobi and Eightball have obviously put a lot of time and effort into the endeavor. Handing it over as open source for free may be difficult for the following reasons: Protecting Work – Prevent unauthorized use or monetization. Preventing Cheating – Avoid exploits in multiplayer. Retaining Control – Keep the mod's vision intact. Avoiding Extra Work – No flood of bug fixes or feature requests. Legal Issues – Might contain third-party assets or reverse-engineered content. No Interest in Collaboration – Some devs prefer working solo. Future Monetization – Might turn into a paid module later.
