Pavlin_33 Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 U fly mostly Soviet/Russian jets and they have a HUD dimmer that blocks out the Sun, but a JF-17 for example doesn't so facing the Sun the HUD is useless. I was wondering, how to RL pilots deal with this? Or is it like in DCS where the Sun is the ultimate obstacle? i5-4690K CPU 3.50Ghz @ 4.10GHz; 32GB DDR3 1600MHz; GeForce GTX 1660 Super; LG IPS225@1920x1080; Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB; Windows 10 Pro
Bimbac Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 The pilots wear dark helmet visors, which are not implemented in DCS now. If the HUD becomes unreadable, the HUD Repeater function on the MFDs is for that. 2

andrewd251 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 I think the mirage 2000 has a working visor also. 1

In real life you would just shade them by hand but that's currently not possible in dcs. Something like inverse flashlight would do the job. 1
Ebphoto Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I always used my sunglasses or my visor if I had to. Sometimes putting my hand up to block the sun works too 1
Qcumber Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 OXRTK has two sunglasses settings. It would be handy to have a keybind toggle for these. 1 PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Aronis Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 They get their canopy tinted by the local garage. As long as the State Troopers don't catch you, you can tint the windows quite dark. Makes it a pain for the other drivers to see your head position, but screw them, I just hit them with Chaff if they beep at me in traffic. Mike 3
