Dangerzone Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I think I recalled somewhere that we could expect more information and video's closer to the release date. I haven't seen either yet, so I wasn't expecting it to be released with this patch. I'll start getting a little excited once I hear Wes's familiar voice saying "Hey everybody". 1
HMSSURP Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) Hey all, I have started making youtube videos about the Chinook. I only have the first done which is more of an introductory thing but feel free to check it out. I will try to get you all start up procedures and stuff soon! PS, please remember I am not a youtube content creator so be gentle! Edited July 11, 2024 by HMSSURP 4 5

Hey just be careful with showing docs in your videos, while the ones you showed are fine I don't want to see you get in trouble sharing anything you shouldn't or anything you should and someone gets grumpy. Also, we like to shy away from Discussing other games, I get the reasoning here as the DCS version isn't out, but we have some passionate people around here and may get some heat for discussing other things, just keep those things in mind when sharing vids, otherwise, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with everyone, and welcome to the wonderful world of DCS. =Mac= Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 NineLine, In that video that Hooker made, he was clear and repetitive about what he was showing/referring to was clear for the public. He gave several warnings about what if someone came across some restricted info. I don't think you needed to warn him: Hooker warned everyone. I know that I'll be very careful because Canada has the F's. From my perspective, whatever Hooker discusses is extremely valuable to me. He actually flew those (D's and F's). The other software he mentioned already has a release of the Hook while DCS is a bit late to the party. I have two other sims besides DCS (FS and X) but don't fly them much because DCS is better (for numerous reasons.) But I always say, "Knowledge is power." HMSSURP, Please keep on with your videos and discussions. Ever since I saw the Flying Banana, I wanted to fly a twin rotor "Whirly Bird". (That dates me, eh? ) I believe DCS will be "The" version to fly, violated my own rules about "pre-purchase", and got my money in. I want the Hook so badly. The manuals you referred to will give me months of study... which is what I've always wanted in DCS. I've just poked my nose into and bounced around in DCS's Kiowa and wonder how these two will affect my six-year DCS career in the mighty Hornet. Thank you, sir, for your videos and discussions. 5 The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

Thank you for the kind words! I sent a copy of a book I compiled title Tandem Rotor to ED. The book covers the entire history of the Tandem Rotor helicopter that I could find. Basically, a brief summary of every type that has existed. I was not able to upload it myself so I sent it to ED to review and, if they approve, hopefully upload it themselves. It is not a work of originality so if they do load it feel free to download the PDF and share it with anyone who may desire completely free. 2 1

I don't think you needed to warn him: Hooker warned everyone. While the friendly warning was directed at HMSSURP, NineLine was also reinforcing the rule of not linking locations or website urls containing restricted documentation towards everyone that must adhere to it as a preventative measure. In the past, there have been individuals that refuse to adhere to the rules and laws regarding such things, and it requires the ED staff to remove such links or content from our forums or social media channels, resulting in warning points or eventual bans of users for repeated offenses. It is more preferable that these incidents do not occur in the first place which would be better for everyone as a whole, which is why we use friendly reminders such as this to remind everyone of the line they should not cross, rather than deal with the clean up afterward which is less friendly. As HMSSURP mentioned very clearly in his video, this is a very serious issue (and the website he showed only had Dis A Public Release documents); and because ED takes it very seriously, we will always prefer friendly preventative reminders over not friendly forum warnings and bans after the fact. 3 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. Slippa Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 HMSSURP, cheers for the videos first off. - Would it be a good idea for ED to offer you the Hook so you could do our cold start videos? Please? Just an idea as coming from my point of view I can’t think of anyone better to show us than a pilot, like yourself. I’m an extensively qualified nonsense talker and enthusiastic DCS pilot that flew props almost exclusively for two years. I recently got the choppers out and learnt the Huey, Gazelle, OH-6A and the Kiowa and for the first time, pre-ordered a module because, well, it’s a bleedin Chinook innit. I’m well into me choppers now. If ED were up for it and you fancied the job maybe we’d all benefit when it’s finally released. 14 minutes ago, Raptor9 said: While the friendly warning was directed….. I will certainly be putting out more video's, especially once I figure out how not to say "uhhhh." so much! I was annoying myself when I heard myself talking! But personally, I would like to see ED put out their own videos. If for no other reason then they will defintely be of better quality then anything I put out (I am not a professional youtuber by any means and have no desire to be one) and we will know EXACTLY what they do and don't have modeled. 2

Thanks! That Chinook website has been up for decades along with it's attachments, manuals, photo's etc. as the website says it's all information that has been publicly released, if not they would have been shut down years ago. I've visited over the years, the spinning Chinook Gif has been there since probably the late 90's and it's still going Although I get the point of reminding people about sharing information. I'd also be surprised if ED's CH47F developers have not had a good look through it or heard of the site as there's still a lot of basic similarities. @HMSSURP you have another YT sub from me, although I'll never call it a 'Hook', always a 'Cab' Edited July 12, 2024 by ChrisUK27 2
