You got a little too used to the frequency of the Kiowa video's I think. They were super fast at being released. 😉

I'm jonesing for my Chinook. 😯

Along with the C-130 it' my most anticipated model by far. I'd trade my Phantom for either in a heartbeat.

"Jonesing"? Is that anything like "Don't panic Mr Mainwering"? 😉  Aaah - the C-130 - yes extremely excited about that one! I'm more looking at the CH-47 as an 'interim' module before the C-130 is released, so I'm waiting to see just what the C-130 in EA is capable of before I buy it to make sure it's going to meet that criteria.

But yeah - dang if those OH-58 video's weren't released crazy fast. I felt like if I went away for 4 days, I had a lot of 'catching up' to do. 🤣

"Jonesing" is what a smoker does on a long haul flight just waiting, dreaming, suffering, anticipating that angelic inhalation of toxins upon landing and exiting the aircraft.

I'm big on the Chinook - and the C-130 - because it's a big fat flyer where you're really concentrating on the flying as opposed to weapons management. I spend half of my DCS time just flying for fun, no "Kaboom!", so I like the idea of having a few modules, especially larger ones, where the whole experience is just the flying.

Thanks for the clarification on Jonesing...

Yes - I hear you. The idea of flying for the sake of flying, but having that additional hositle environment where you have to be careful, and also where you're not just flying dog manure out of Hong Kong like other FS, but what we do actually has an impact to others in the game as far as CTLD is very enticing for me too! I'm also wondering how many flight-sim guys these two modules could entice from general flight simulators to DCS given DCS unique nature. Good times ahead. 🙂

Good question.

Obviously you can do these things a civvy sim, but I much prefer to fly in DCS. Everything feels better, tighter, more well put together. And having aircraft that are centered on the flying and not the fighting brings a nice new focus to the sim.

And if there is some AAA chasing you along the way, so be it. 😁

Does a civy-sim allow you to do airdrops / cargo that actually impacts other players, and have the risk of needing countermeasures though?  😉  I see the 'new' civy sim allows for a lot more activity - which will be interesting, but still - the ability to work with others in multiplayer (more than just sharing the same skies, but having an impact to others) I think will be quite enticing. Anyway - we'll know soon enough. 🙂

Sometimes I just get bored with X-Plane and go to DCS, sometimes backward. It's never been the case that I thought A was better than B and abandoned it. For those who like flight simulators the problem is ATC, which in DCS is very bad, but that doesn't stop me from flying without it.

The procedures in DCS are very conventional and extremely primitive, so this is a problem. I won't even talk about how the tower allows you to takeoff - it's a far cry from realism.

I urged myself to watch my DCS expenses more and hold back on purchases for a while...

So far, I managed to withstand the Kola, Afghanistan violence... But I had a weak moment and pre-purchased the Hook 😳

I'm more than ready for its release now

Nice one.  Should be great with your JetPad and SimShaker.  :joystick:  I love the SimShaker feedback I get with the Huey.

Looks like we are both hanging on in there with the good old GTX 1080ti.  Though mine struggles a bit with the Phantom.  I hope the glass cockpit we are getting in the DCS Chinook is not too demanding on the fps front.  🤞

Saving up for a new all singing and dancing PC rig for next year.  :cheer3nc:

Happy landings,

Talisman

Same here, I don't get bored with DCS though, but I get bored when I can't do proper helicopter landings in fields and smash the helicopter up.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends

The DCS: CH-47F is nearing early access release with development focus on flight model and flight control system issues, avionics system development, missions and training, and as always testing and bug fixing. We are nearly there and once again please accept our sincere apologies for the delay. Please read the details below.

The impressive DCS: Sinai map update is also nearing release. The terrain has received a substantial upgrade with 15 new airfields, new nighttime illumination, and new unique objects such as military installations, oil platforms, improved vegetation, and more!

We are excited to present a new F10 map route tool. This tool will allow you to edit, create, and delete waypoints/steerpoints prior to spawning in your aircraft in both single player and multiplayer. Please stay tuned for the next update to try this yourself.

Finally, the new DCS: F-4 MiG Killers Campaign by Reflected is slated for the next update too! This campaign features 45 missions that are heavily randomised and offer replayability. It also contains advanced AI tactical behaviour based on real-life tactics. Keep your eyes peeled!

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics

CH-47F

Development Progress

Hero1.png

Over the last few weeks, we have made significant enhancements to the DCS: CH-47F module, focusing on visual and functional improvements as well as mission updates. Below is a concise summary of the recent progress.

Visual and Functional Enhancements

  • Overhead panels visual improvements and fixes
  • Improved rotor blade rendering and improvements to their damage model.
  • The internal views have been improved by hiding unnecessary panels, adding gunner radio panels, improved radio control heads, and enhanced animations for buttons, levers, and switches.
  • Lighting and Animation: Improved cockpit lighting, added 4th Level of Detail ( LOD), adjusted heater start button connector, and changed mainboard lighting from white to green. Enhanced back-lit text, throttle handle connectors, FLIR maps, Power Distribution Panel (PDP) lamps animation, Multi-Function Display (MFD) rockers animation, and transparency of the stick position indicator glass.
  • Night Vision Goggles have been added.
  • The Countermeasures and Warning System (CMWS) has been moved from post Early Access release to Early Access release.
  • The load and unload cargo system has also seen further refinements and additional functionality.

Mission Updates

  • Added numerous instant action missions across multiple maps.
  • Additional training missions that cover primary mission procedures.

Flight Model and Flight Control System

  • Refined Automatic Flight Control System scheduling for authentic take off behaviour.
  • Adjusted flight modelling in conjunction with flight control system for correct forward flight behaviour without Longitudinal Cyclic Trim (LCT) scheduling. Note: at early access release, manual pedal input will be required for coordinated turns. Further refinements to the LCT and Digital Advanced Flight Control System (DAFCS) will come during the early access period.

Multicrew

  • Pilot and Copilot Multi Crew have been further refined, particularly with synchronisation of controls and displays.

Please stay tuned as we diligently prepare the DCS: CH-47F for early access launch.

Sinai

Development Report

Hero2.png

We're excited to update you on the status of the upcoming DCS: Sinai map update. This update is packed with new features and enhancements. You can look forward to 15 new, highly detailed airfields that include Quwaysina, Borg-el-Arab International, and Sharm El Sheikh. The update also introduces over 100 unique objects and architectural monuments, improved city textures, more realistic seabed textures, and enhanced scenes for helipads. You can also expect night illumination for unique objects, upgraded Giza Pyramids, military installations in Egypt and Israel, and new acacia bushes for southern Israel. Additionally, new oil platforms will be presented.

Route Tool

New feature

Hero3.png

The new Route Tool will allow you to create your own flight routes for multiplayer. It allows you to edit and to create preset waypoints/steerpoints routes before spawning into the mission. This includes being able to set elevations, MSL or AGL election, and dynamic ETAs.

You will also be able to save route presets for each terrain. Once a route has been created, you can select it from the PRESET list prior to spawning. This is a general multiplayer route tool for all DCS aircraft, and it’s especially useful for the Flaming Cliffs 2024 aircraft. This tool is not related to upcoming Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) functionality, which we will update you on at a later date. Stay tuned!

F-4 MiG Killers

Campaign by Reflected

Hero4.png

By 1969, the US Navy faced a critical challenge in the skies over North Vietnam. Their kill to loss ratio had plummeted to a dismal 2 to 1. In response, a select group of Naval aviators crafted a groundbreaking graduate-level training program to reclaim aerial dominance.

You will join the inaugural class of the Top Gun course starting on March 3, 1969, and master the art of dogfighting in your DCS: F-4E Phantom. The F-4 MiG Killers Campaign will offer 12 meticulously crafted missions based on the real-life syllabus, totalling 45 missions. You'll encounter heavily randomised and re-playable scenarios, advanced AI tactical behaviour, and a study-level simulation of real-life procedures.

Get ready for a rich narrative with thousands of custom voice-overs, detailed briefings complete with chalkboard diagrams, and extensive documentation. Enjoy historically accurate custom skins, true-to-life kneeboard and briefing images, and custom DCS UI backgrounds. Look out for the campaign in the next update.

Thank you again for your passion and support,

Yours sincerely,

DCS needs better ATC and landing procedures full stop, in big missions we use a real ATC guy in our group it adds so much
