I'll state the obvious and say "man, I wish it were an F-4B or F-4J", but absent that, this looks incredible! Reflected's campaigns are an automatic purchase as soon as they release. I'm sure this will live up to the standard he's set with his other campaigns.

I don't want to derail the thread, and I'm sure it has been answered and I've missed it, but does anyone know if Heatblur had a reason for choosing to model the -E over the -B or -J? Phantom carrier ops would be phenomenal. I know they've mentioned doing a Navy Phantom down the road, but given DCS development timelines I hope it happens before the expansion of the sun encapsulates Earth.

I believe its due to the E model being the mostly widely exported and its associated combat making it more appealing to a wider audience I get it really - although I am a Navy Phantom lover and look forward to the day that we potentially see a J model.

Nice work so far @Reflected and love the idea of making it a hard  wing (tapped into the components model???) - looking forward to this

It was one of the biggest missed opportunities, but it was not surprising. A J or S would have made a mountain of sense, given the availability of multiple aircraft carriers and availability at land bases. Whether a proper Phantom doing what it was designed to do will come remains to be seen, but I have my doubts given the mountain of promises and vaporware. I'm actually skipping the F-4E model.

Yeah, I especially liked the compromises and USAF vs USN part - nice job there. No gun ammo - problem solved

I pre-ordered the F-4E a long time ago, and TBH it along with the F-14 are probably the modules that finally convinced me to make the jump from the Wings Over Vietnam/Europe/ETC series by Third Wire and try out DCS.

Six months ago I would have been screaming and yelling that I wanted to see F-4B/C/DF/G/J/N/S/F-ICE variants as well and that I was ready to hand over my credit card for them immediately if they'd work on those modules.  Things are a little different now but since I'm stuck with it I'll see what I think of it when I finally get the F-4E to fly and go from there.

I'm sure they said the J would follow this as a module in its own right.  Like you say, E was a perfectly logical starting point given it was the model made in the greatest numbers.

Do not get me wrong, I'll get this campaign when released, but, I was wondering if you gave any consideration to the USAF Weapon School in an early post Vietnam war setting, 1972-1975, when the USAF had F-4E (the course for F-4 was added to the school in 1965, before the Navy's Fighter Weapon School) at Nellis AFB. The USAF WS increased the focus on A2A in the early 70's and used F-5 and T-38 as aggressor for that. Right planes, right bases, right services...

Yepp, I'll talk about this in an upcoming video. During my research I found plenty of info on Topgun lessons, but almost none on the USAF Weapons School. With no resources I can't make a campaign. That's one thing. The other thing is that Navy tactics taught at Topgun were decades ahead of USAF tactics of that era. I even had an USAF SME tell me I'd better make a Topgun campaign because the USAF WS would be much more boring.

Oh, the horror!  A Navy livery on the F-4E.  I am morally indignant.  See the moral indignation?

Well, actually, Navy liveries are about the only kind I fly on the F-4E (and everything Navy has been downloaded) so I might not notice, but appropriate levels of trigger will occur when the campaign is released.

Now if HB would release the template...and the campaign.
