The last KC-10 was delivered to the bone yard. Can we get it as a new tanker in DCS within the next decade?

- Real life pilots said it was the best thing to tank from.

- 300,000lb of fuel to give

- something new.

+1 I'd certainly like a KC-10.

One thing I will say though, at the moment tankers in DCS only support a single refuelling type exclusively (which is why the KC-135RT w/ MPRS only supports probe and drogue, but not the boom). It's not the only limitation but this one in particular is relevant to the KC-10 as the KC-10 supports both flying boom and probe and drogue without modification. If this limitation isn't resolved, this will take away some of the utility of the KC-10 (unless you have 2 duplicate aircraft in the unit list and make missions with 2 tankers to support both refuelling methods).

It should say add KC-10 BACK

This tanker was part of the Lock On Modern Air Combat, taking fuel in the Eagle ... oh the memories ...

There are so many nice things that could be added to DCS ...KC-10 is one of them, as a FF module even more so.

Yeah we need another plane to take fuel from as the 135 is getting a bit boring..

A new 135 model would be nice too.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Deliver unto us KC-10. It'd also make for a good excuse to work on an AAR overhaul.

I'm curious, what made it that best thing to tank from?

I'm not a pilot, but the fact that the hose and basket was it's own self contained apparatus located directly on the tail of the aircraft, versus attached to a boom or out near the wingtip, likely made for a more stable and predictable approach and fueling cycle.

But like I said.. I'm not a pilot.

I am glad we got the KC-130 and MPRS, I wish there was A-400M as well. I know there is KC-30A coming with Australia Top End (as well as E-7A), and we are eagerly waiting for KA-6D from Heatblur.

We'll see. Most of the projects in DCS are 1 man show maybe two, HB and ED maybe assign more engineers to any given project (I doubt) so it takes time, but what other game takes less these days?

I think KC-30A (announced in 2023) and KA-6D (announced in 2021)  will be delivered faster than in 5 years total.

The new S-3 Viking by ED took almost 4 years, still less than 5 🙂

IMO, it's a must. A huge part of the A-6 squadron experience was KA-6D duty.

I mean... It is not always about range, but to avoid that turn around time cycle an aircraft takes after landing if some serious CAP is going on.

Netherlands also has the F-16, which is notorious to have small legs.

(I know it was likely a joke) 😅

I now remember this tanker on lock on after the mentions.
DCSW needs a serious overhaul on AAR in several fronts, especially the basket not retracting after the tanker disconnects from the aircraft due to refueling completion ending up clipping/entering the cockpit. Besides that, other tankers are more than welcome, especially for time period accuracy.

It is been a bit immersion breaking refueling the F-4E with the KC-135 on a scenario intended to be in the 70s at the moment. 😔

Eagle Dynamics obviously has a tanker overhaul on the low priorities of work. The truth is only a small percentage of players actually use the tankers.  If the tankers were more commonly used then there would have been overhauls and simple fixes such as the barely visible PDL light on the KC-135 at night. The actual flood lights on the KC-135 that illuminated the fuselage for the tanking aircraft. Probably even some hose and basket physics. But the fact is, the chad CAP pilot will fly 300miles, orbit on station for 15 minutes and fly another 300 miles back instead of hitting the tanker that's on station because it's "to hard".

Unfortunately the wish list section on this forum is just that, a wish list. Maybe we just need to pitch them the idea of the "Super Tanker Module" Pack and hope for something within a 5 year window.
