F-5E Tiger II Upgrade On The Way?

I see a lot of "more modern variant" in here, so I'll just throw my A/B/C model request in here if we're talking extra variants.  Mavericks are cool and all, but so are Bullpups.

Anyways, "weapon adjustments including new laser-guided bomb loading options".  Sooo, GPU-5 anyone?  Heatblur was supposedly working on it for the F-4E and it was used on the F-5E.  Also goes with the future A-7E and was at least tested on the F-16 so it's not like it would only be for the F-5.

Edit: Almost forgot, where is that darn AIM-9E...

That's right! ED has always emphasized that the update of the F-5e II has new modeling ,external animations and some tasks, but the most important weapon system and functions of the fighter body appear to be the same, with no new additions!!!! It seems like spending money to update not necessary

It would be nice if those versions were added in a bundle, for something like $20-30 (depending on the variant/work required) upgrade for existing owners. If I recall a number of countries modified the F-5E after delivery for two extra AIM-9s under the wing and it was a quick and easy modification. Something like that would be nice if it was included, but for the AGM-65 variants I assume more changed to the cockpit and whatnot would be needed.

Yes of course: ED have stated that several times in the past. They can only do 1 at a time so it will take longer than we would like.

I would even consider other types of F-16s. Like the European F-16A upgrades. I know those would require more systems to be rebuilt, but it would be nice to see some of those added with an option for those that own the F-16C to purchase at a discount.

What a shame! Apparently it won't have the refueling probe or the digital radios. It will only have the external model, cockpit and pilot.

I'm happy for the update and will probably get it as soon as it's available.

But this just enhances my opinion that the FC4 version should have been "downgraded " to a A model. I understand we're not gonna get a full fidelity A. So making the FC4 an A models would add a new aircraft to the game. And would let us use the A for those countries that used it.

Myself, I can't wait for the upgrade. Looks like I'll be getting the MiG-15, too, just in case they decide to touch it up as well.  The F-5 is such a sweet piece of kit.

I guess they're not making the A model because this would involve some FM development. The FM is explicitly being ported from the older F-5, which is probably a huge time and effort saver. Also, things like Mavs or Bullpups would require avionics coding, whereas here they just need to fix some outstanding bugs, not code an entire system from scratch.

2x AIM-9  whould be an HUGE improvement for the Tiger...

You can mod the LUA to carry the AR probe and the additional 2, Sidewinders. However the jet can't fire the second pair, because the hard point doesn't recognize the weapon. That's locked away by ED.

Is the aerial refueling probe part of the DCS and not a MOD?

With Mavericks and 4xAim-9 support, the paid upgrade would seem like a fair deal to me (subjectively). Without any additional features of significance it's simply not enough to rekindle my interest in the module.

I will buy it, but I am disappointed that they did not add the aerial refueling probe and digital radios. I hope the work on the external 3D model and cockpit are on par with the F-4E, to justify the price.

I have no problem with paying $10 for this upgrade, but I won't if they aren't going to address the wings.

I will buy it even if zero new features. All the old modules need some upgrade, and people can't work for free. Better a huey 2 or a f-86 2 for 10 bucks, even without new systems, than a brand new mig-29 while you let the older modules rot in decay. I will buy f-5 2 and every other pay upgrade of older modules, provided that it's not just a new shiny look: the bugs must be carefully watched and corrected, both for the upgrade buyers and for people who will not upgrade.

It's an Expansion Mod I am working on, originally the Wing Tanks Mod, has been expanded to Wintip tanks, Drop tanks, ILS/VOR, VHF, ADF Antennas and Export, Skoshi AAR Probes.
But it was back burnered by some other priority projects in progress, w/ F-5E 2024 being public, I will likely hold the mod until after the remaster is released, and modify the Expansion mod to use either Legacy or Remastered files. I've already started working on re-building weapons table, and giving AI Export versions AGMs etc etc.

And like I've been doing for other projects I'm working on/partnering with,
This mod will install 100% in the SG folder and not have to be merged, managed, removed, re-installed after a DCS Update or break IC.

As for the ADF Antenna on the Stab / Spine? Brazil has those.
