@Someone I originally said I was not purchasing this bird, even though I wanted it, due to ED's lack of updated ground units and features, but after listening to your Enigma interview and being a Software Engineer myself, I can hear the devotion you have in your product. Also, the details you provided on the process was insightful. So I just added the Herc to my collection on pre-order. Keep up the great work.

I also really enjoyed the interview, and it was this interview that made me buy the C-130J. I'm more excited to fly the C-130J than the MiG-29A.

"Upon purchase, you'll receive your license code via email within minutes. You'll use this code to instantly activate your C-130J when it's released."

You can actually bind it immediately after purchase- so it activates the license on your ED account. The discord FAQ has instructions, i already bound mine to my account

of course it can't be accessed until release, but the wording there is a little confusing since it gives the impression that you have to wait until release to redeem the code, which is not the case..

There's a lot of pics and word about cargo drops and such. But not really seeing much involving dropping things like Lav's or especially infantry.
Is this not including paratrooper drops on release?

As in a "Digital combat simulator", I'd buy the "C-130 Gunship/Spooky"
This edition has Truck sim vibes and feels weird!
I bought MS flightsim through the years, but since I got into DCS I don't fly it much.
I understand the value of logistics in an armed conflict, but this is a big, (boring)  "WUT?"

Ok, thank you! That’s what I was wondering. I don’t like having keys sat in my mailbox unbound, but I couldn’t find an obvious way to do it. I’ll get on discord and have a read…

To follow up on my query, I feel slightly less silly now I’ve seen the discord instructions…. When I purchased directly from ASC I get emailed what was called a license key. The instructions say to redeem a voucher, and the redeem voucher page warns “do not enter license keys here”. Perhaps the emails should call these things vouchers, as that’s apparently what they really are

It's called "Digital Combat Simulator" but that doesn't mean you have to fly combat all the time. The quality of the planes and maps allows not only for great combat flights, but just flights period. It's a sandbox after all, it's what you make of it. And I make a lot of great non-combat flights.

 

For my part, I'm here first and foremost for the flying. And DCS, certainly for me, has the best flightsim characteristics of them all. For sure I'm gonna blow **** up, but that's secondary to the quality of the flying.  If it was just about the "pew pew" I'd be over with the Blore Blunder crowd flying from an exterior view. Barf!  But that's not my thing. DCS gives me the tighest rightest flgithsim and the ability to blow **** up. My choice. 

 

And my choice regarding the C-130, is a great big "Yes please!"

I'm sorry, but I don't understand that complaint. Transport and logistics have been involved in DCS World for many years with transport helicopters. Complaining now that ASC is about to release the Hercules because it doesn't go "Boom Boom" doesn't make sense... it's like if someone makes us a module for a KC-135 or an E-3 or an S-3 or an EA-6B or a U-2. Will it be boring? No. Because there will be people interested in that role. That's the problem some of you have with the acronyms and lose sight of the rest.

It's understandable that a C-130 is vulnerable and "boring," but with the dynamic campaign just around the corner, logistics is going to be paramount. We need to be a little more understanding; we've also had acrobatics for many years, and no one is burning down the forums because of it.

HUH, it's almost like logistics are a core facet of combat operations.. who'da thunk? 

I understand wanting the spooky, and as it is one of my favorite aircraft of all time, I'd love to see it too.

But not seeing why this fits into the sim is a very silly take. The C-130 is known to be a workhorse flying into contested combat zones, delivering critical

supplies, reinforcements, equipment you name it- all while getting riddled with bullets, losing an engine or two, and getting out of there under enemy fire.

I personally can't wait to do critical logi missions at 250ft above deck, evading manpads and making everyone in the back sick- 

Oh and when dynamic campaign _eventually_ comes out, it will be a great asset for keeping frontlines supplied.
