MAESTR0 Posted September 12 Posted September 12 (edited) Hi, fighters! We have been steadily developing the Normandy 2 map for two years, and now it is time to announce a new major update - with a lot of new additions and improvements! We are proud to present a major update for DCS: Normandy 2, which will immerse you not only in the epicentre of great battles, but also in the rich historical heritage of Europe. Get ready for new tactical possibilities and incredible depth of visual embodiment! NEW SEASON: WINTER For the first time for the Normandy map! War knows no breaks, and now you will have to fight in harsh winter conditions. Snow-covered fields and airfields will create a completely new experience of piloting and navigation. Now you will be in conditions where you need to watch out for the enemy and for icing. Greenery is now hidden under a blanket of snow. A new atmosphere, new conditions for missions, it will be available soon. The Big Smoke and the "City of Light" under the snow Winter France Winter England Edited September 12 by MAESTR0 19 8
MAESTR0 Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 In this update, you will find carefully designed historical objects that will make every flight even more alive and immersive. Each object from majestic cathedrals to fortifications was modeled with reference to its real historical appearance to make your flights over France truly unique. This is history coming to life under the wing of your aircraft. Explore, plan operations and enjoy incredible detail! Architectural gems of Normandy and beyond: Abbaye de Jumieges - majestic ruins towering above the trees. Amiens Cathedral - A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, visible for many kilometers. Bayeux Cathedral - An architectural monument of the 11th-15th centuries, combining features of the Romanesque style and Norman Gothic. Bertangles Chateau - An exquisite French castle. A good place for a walk. Calais and Rouen landmarks: Calais Lighthouse — a 53-metre (178 ft) lighthouse on the coast. Calais Town Hall — a 72-metre (236 ft) bell tower Grand Theater de Calais — a magnificent Italian-style theater. At the time of its opening, it was the third largest in France and one of the few theaters with iron stage mechanics. Notre Dame Catholic Church at Calais — The church is large and has a fortress-like appearance. Arguably, it is the only church built in the English perpendicular style in all of France. Tour du Guet — is a 13th-century watchtower in Calais NotreDame de Rouen — A recognizable silhouette immortalized by Claude Monet. Rouen Prison - Historical prison of Rouen Evreux Cathedral - The cathedral is one of the most outstanding buildings in Evreux. The cathedral is a national monument 22 12
Nirvi Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Awesome! The map keeps getting better! Any chance for a pre-invasion version of the map, without the ALGs? 4 Serious uglies Discord 4YA - Project Overlord WW2 Server My DCS Videos

waterman Posted Friday at 10:46 PM Posted Friday at 10:46 PM (edited) This update is a Very Nice Surprise thankyou for all the creative work. Winter textures will be like having a new Map to play with. " Harsh cold winter " textures create a great atmosphere for the Map. Another exciting thing is i can now create some nice winter textures for my Normandy and London Trains and of course the Krupp K5 Leopold. Great Work Thankyou ! Nealius Posted Saturday at 01:57 AM Posted Saturday at 01:57 AM Will we also get Amiens Prison for Mosquito missions? Channel map has it, but that map's buildings are not destructable, making it useless for the Mosquito. Normandy has geat destructable scenery, but few historical targets existing for the Mosquito to strike. 3

REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted yesterday at 03:17 PM Posted yesterday at 03:17 PM I love Ugras work (Thanks for great maps!), but I fail to understand how he/they can add dozens upon dozens of landmarks and features and just ignore endless comments about trees and bushes growing in the middle of airfields, wrong period hangars (If you can model a dozen European cathedrals, you'd think they could model a British WW2 hangar) etc. Awesome that we are finally getting winter though- thanks for that! 2
Rex Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) This is my favorite map in DCS. And it's just getting better. Thanks, guys, your hard work on this is very much appreciated, not to mention, greatly enjoyed. To this day I spend hours just flying around this map in SP because I love the atmosphere. I always find something new and interesting, and even educational. I didn't even know Mont St. Michael existed until I flew over it in DCS! I've since researched and read all about it. Ditto places like Jersey and Isle of Wright. And there is this country just north of France called "England"! I've since learned that it's famous for being a pretty country with godawful food and people who can't properly speak the very language they invented. Who knew??!! Okay, okay, I kid about England. Sort of. Anyway, London to Paris is 200 miles of content on one historical sim map, which is just outstanding. I love flying past the Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Arc Du Triumph, London Bridge, the Louvre, and then when I'm done admiring them ... blowing them to kingdom come. It's improved my enjoyment of DCS immensely. Thank you so much!
