Curious as to who's using what sort of trim in DCS. I've reverted to the old 1.0.0 system.

I'm undecided yet. There a couple occasions where the trimmer didn't give me aircraft control until I moved the joystick some more and then back to center. I'm almost tempted to go back to 1.0, but I do remember the jerking, which seems less with the new trimmer. I shall vote once I have made up my mind :)

I'm using the new trimmer method, it's working well for me. Still can't fly that good but it seems smoother and I can get into a hover easier. Of course that could just be because I've been practicing more and it has nothing to do with the trim method.

lol, sorry I had to be the one to vote for the last option

To be honest, I don't trim unless I absolutely have to. It's just another thing to worry about. I always have a hand on the stick anyway, even if it is my left. Center stick's are wonderful! ;)

Of the 2 methods however, I like the new one better, though it is annoying when you don't actually center it and there's no control over the aircraft! That usually results in a large "Crunch!" :D

After a lot of flying, testing the new Trim method i really liked it and use it. The flying became more enjoyable and stable. I find my self flying for ours without combat and really enjoying it.

New system works best for me. I dont trim a lot anyway...

Ditto, I'm exactly the same and don't trim unless I'm flying a long distance.

new system so far...I was happy with old system, but want to give new system a go for a while to see.

There are slight drawbacks to the new system (as Aero mentioned, sometimes you get control loss because of not properly returning the controllers to center), but I think, overall it helps me fly a much better profile....no bucking bronco moments anymore..

Old system, crashed once due to loss of control using the new trim system and reverted right back to the old method. I never had an issue with the original system anyway.

I have switched back to the old system. Losing control of the cyclic is worse than a little jerkiness.

My proposal is for yet another trim option: Combine the two options by shortly having the stick output frozen until either:

- you recenter or,

- a time limit is exceeded. (whichever happens first)

That way you never loose control for long in a stressful situation and you have the ability to smoothly apply the new trim setting. Let players set the time limit and the recenter zone limits to suit their personal flying style and everybody would be happy!:smilewink:

I guess that would totally ruin the capability of viewing other's replays.... Unless maybe that information is stored in the TRK file and settings adjusted for each playback...

Settings should be stored in the .TRK anyway to keep compatibility with features in new updates. I hope ED does that...

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, it wouldn't ruin playback at all: the trk only records the stick position in-game, not the physical controller input. So it doesn't matter how you generate the in-game cyclic stick signal, including the "no-force-feedback-trimming" work-around. Otherwise tracks wouldn't be compatible even now, afterall we already have two trimming systems...

Follow me? :)
