H-street Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 With the 1 year anniversary of the DCS release coming up (October 17th) just seems like it has gotten pretty quiet and stale on the DCS front. I know that A10 is deep in the works but just wondering if there is a plan for an update on sortof where other things stand (apart from just adding another aircraft) in the Digital Combat Simulator? As time goes on i am getting feeling that DCS Blackshark is losing longevity..

Personally I'm labouring under the Polar Opposite View.......One can be forgiven for the feeling of 'isolation' attendant with DCS atm due to only one flyable being present. What is certain is that there is a Bomber on the way, which will add a whole new dynamic to DCS, especially in a Multiplayer environment. I willing to bet on a certainty that a Fast-Jet is also well beyond the 'Wishlist' phase insofar as DCS is concerned. The Future is Bright Indeed. DCS losing longevity.........Hell No, it's just getting started. Black Shark losing longevity.........Can one really say that One has truly mastered the Helo? I mean, if the AH-64 is going to be released, they obviously have the whole dual cockpit thing sorted, and god knows the community has been wanting that plane for far too long now. P.S. I believe GA is holding up ED with the release of the A-10C until his video is complete. That's why he is teasing us so much. Because he knows things... I mean I really appreciated the SIM-HQ A-10C pictorial but a monthly update would be nice... i was sortof thinking the same thing, when DCS Blackshark came out the buzz was great and now that we've entered into the "long haul" part of the DCS developement it just feels a little empty.. but then again sounds like maybe in the next month or so things will change.

Ive been flying a little EECH of late as we can utilise EECH's dynamic campaign engine in multiplay. DCS multiplay content has all but dried up. I think if I fly City Sweep again my wife is going to find me rocking back and forward in my chair like a lab monkey. Dynamic Campaign engine please ED :) ps- DCS BS is still the best single player flight simulator ever made, but theres many above it in the multiplay area.

Maybe your caught in that development bubble and you can't relate to the majority that have posted in this thread thus far but we would just like to see consistency in terms of news it gives us something to look forward too. Maybe a screen shot of terrain or wire-frames of new models being built; that would make me (and I'm sure others) feel like valued customer's. Just my $0.02. EinsteinEP Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Unashamedly OT: I have three kinds of socks in my sock drawer: white athletic, black dress, and brown dress, so they're roughly grouped in that order, blacks and browns to one side (they pack tighter) with the whites taking the rest of the drawer. Because I've purchased my socks at different times over the years, I have about 4 different kinds of brown socks and there's one type (hard to describe, but they've got these funny little colored polka dots on them) that are just too snug. Being cheap, I can't stand throwing them out, so they stay in the drawer, although they keep migrating towards the back. Now, being only slightly OCD, I try to vary my brown vs. black outfits during the week, but I may, occasionally, have a mostly brown week, just 'cuz I feel like it. Then I have to wear this snug polka dot socks. When I come home, I'm always in a hurry to take them off, since my feet are uncomfortable, but I always throw them in the hamper instead of the trash. This week has been a brown week so far, so stay tuned to see what happens! ;) Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.

I am a die hard rotor head and even tho I enjoy the a-10, a fast jet or bomber will just not satisify my urge to shoot a hell fire on some poor unsespecting t-80u or 90. Not to mention the poor bastage in a bmp or other soft vehicle :). As far as BS being stale now, nope still fly even if it is just to run the practice map to keep those skills honed. I also make my own missions to help keep me going. Bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives. A X-65F Hotas with trackir4 and pro combat peddles. A kick butt home built machine unfortunately running a windows 7 OS.

With a sim this complex there is an endless amount to learn if you want to, (which can put some people off) but also makes it the best *&^%'n sim for PC ever made!! All the tools are there at the double click of the DCS icon :thumbup:
