sobek Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 and the throttle had better make a "bbbeeeeeeeuuuuuooooooowwww" noise! That can easily be arranged :) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Bwaze Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 It looks it will be unveiled at E3 convention in LA, June 15 -17. On SimHq James 'Nutty' Hallows wrote just: 'Go to the E3 gents...', when people complained about lack of information. He has some insider info, he wrote already in March that prototypes are in the hands of several people from community. Anyone here has one? ;-)
Pilotasso Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Unveil to be that late? wasnt it suposed to be shiping by now? .

coolts Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 [OPTIMISMTIC FRIDAY MODE] They have obviously cunningly waited till all the competition has released their new HOTAS systems and learnt from their shortcomings in order to create a world beating offering, unrivalled in the flexibility of its software and intuitive ergonomics of the hardware. As we wait, their engineers are tweaking and refining, creating the perfect blend of control and comfort [/OPTIMISTIC FRIDAY MODE] [PESSEMISTIC HUNGOVER SATURDAY MORNING MODE] Or the speed brake switch broke [/PESSEMISTIC HUNGOVER SATURDAY MORNING MODE] [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals
Bwaze Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Technically if they release it at E3 it's still spring. And if they just show the prototype there... Well, nVidia mislead their customers for half a year, and they are in much more fluid market than HOTAS. So anything can happen. But E3 is almost a month away, I hope we will get some new Flash animations before that. :P
sobek Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Bah, i don't care for those flash animations, they change too fast for the information they crammed into one page anyway. I'd rather go with some decent pictures than those crappy flash-slideshows. Or with a prototype.:D Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Bwaze Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Yeah they change fast. That's why I did this: Direct link to the album with pictures (if You can't see them here): http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k26/Bwaze/Thrustmaster%20Hotas%20Warthog/

71st_Mastiff Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I like the fact they have all those buttons on there, I wonder if ED's beta testing this set-up with FC2 and BS, for use; and us? :smilewink: "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. Matze81 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Is there any info, whether or not this beauty will have an afterburner detent? Obviously the Hog doesn't have an afterburner, but I'm sure a lot of us (me included) will use this HOTAS Warthog primarily to take the Eagle, the Flanker or the MiG for a spin! So I really hope the throttles have a burner detent!
159th_Viper Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Is there any info, whether or not this beauty will have an afterburner detent?...... Nope :) Why? As you correctly pointed out, it's an A-10 replica and as such accords with the real deal as far as reasonably possible, hence no burner detent. That and the fact that there is nothing as irritating for a Bomber Pilot as to have a Burner detent on the throttle. Took mine out for just that reason.........that and the moans from the Mrs due to the 'clicks' every so often :D Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? digitaljjd Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 One trigger with two programmable functions. Half-way say fires one cannon only...all the way fires cannon and rockets. Or whatever. Also...399 euros is $491.96 dollars at current exchange rates. Ouch.
Boulund Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 A button that you can press half-way for one function, and then fully press it to the stop for another function. (Like the trigger of the X52). Convenient for some things, looks to be really useful in DCS warthog with the stabilization feature before firing the cannon edit: lost the fight to digitaljjd ;) Core i5-760 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB DDR3, Geforce GTX470, Samsung SATA HDD, Dell UH2311H 1920x1080, Saitek X52 Pro., FreeTrack homemade cap w/ LifeCam VX-1000, Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1. jocko417 Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I would imagine the new software will allow you to program an afterburner range into the throttle axis, you just won`t have a physical detent to let you know where it begins. I moved the `clickers`out of the way on my Cougar for the same reason mentioned above- too noisy, after a while you get used to where the AB range starts just through muscle memory.

leafer Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I'd like a detent though a little less clickity than those in the Cougars. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
159th_Viper Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 They best be putting the idle detents in though, I will not be amused if they leave those out. DTWD Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Nope :) Why? As you correctly pointed out, it's an A-10 replica and as such accords with the real deal as far as reasonably possible, hence no burner detent. That and the fact that there is nothing as irritating for a Bomber Pilot as to have a Burner detent on the throttle.:D I agree, but I also think they should put them in. For a relativly niche market I don't think they should be making there product anymore niche. A lot of throttle sticks have variable resistance etc, so why not have a hardware switch (I mean you push a plastic button that pushes something else into place opposed to anything electronic) under or on the side of the throttle that put the burner indent in? Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 If we're looking at exact A-10 HOTAS replica we'll be getting no AB detents. However, there should be an idle detent so perhaps we could customize it and turn it into a AB detent for those who wish to fly AB equipped aircraft (fighter jets). I have a TM Cougar, no mods except some DIY stuff (greased gimbals, some duct tape bends around the throttle cylinder to get more friction/better precision, stick buttons rotated to their accurate and realistic positions, airbrake switch corrected). When I opened throttle base I modified positions of both detents. I completely removed idle one so my RPM goes to idle when I place the thottle fully backwards (I rarely fly with idling engines so 65% RPM is only good during startup and shutdown of engines, at least with LOFC). But AB detent is given more room so there's more travel within AB throttle range making AB stages easier to control in LOMAC, FC, FC2 and Open Falcon. So I believe same can be done with Idle detent (if there's one) with Hog HOTAS . I'll turn my Idle detent into AB one if possible. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
