While I would love to have the F-18 or even an F-16, I would think that other countires would feel left out if there is another American plane. Unless there is an F-18 variant that would please everyone. The F-16 has variants for many countries. But, If I were to choose it would probably be the F-18 first. We don't have a fighter like the the F-18 mutirole. The F-15C cannot perform ground attack either, like the F-15E.

I would think that there is plenty of data availalble to model all of the avionics for all the planes.

F/A-18C for my money. True multi-role single seater, tons of information available, carrier ops, etc. You name it and the Hornet can do it. The F-16 has been done to death already and while I wouldn't complain if that was the choice, I think the F/A-18C is the ideal "next step"

The F/A-18 is also used by numerous other countries as well.

Personally, I'd prefer whatever the military contracts allow to be simulated with the most fidelity, but aside from that caveat I'm with Poko.

We, as a simulator community, shouldn't be only dependent on what ED makes for military guys. Rather, I would like to be able to get what they do to military guys but also what they can do for us.

Why can't ED have one team for military only and other for civilian affairs? A good time to expand the company. :P

Anyway, Apache would be great or a multi-role jet. Preferably two seats.

Regards.

EDIT: If you guys go for the F18C go for the F18F too. :P

Isn't it gorgeous?

Good idea... What would the ED team like to do???

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Because that would remove all synergies; make development of both product lines more expensive while at the same time reducing fidelity and production value in both product lines. I personally doubt they'd be able to do a DCS series at all if it wasn't for the use of such synergies.

It is true that DCS already has an attack helicopter. But what I think people are not considering is this. The other side NEEDS a helo to. Kinda unfair for only one side to have helos isn't it? We NEED the Apache to kind of balance out the (multiplayer) playing field. I think Lock-On FC 2.0 should keep people satisfied on the jets for a while (good grief we got 8 of them) till after the A-10C and the Apache. Im all for a multi role after that though or even an air to air.

The other side does have a helo, since the Ka-50 was made flyable for all countries.

I assume your talking about IN GAME. I am refering to REAL LIFE. No the USA does not fly KA-50. Im sure they did that because there was no other helo available that was more appropriate.

Could you make a little use of the search function please and read the threads that pop up about multiplayer balance in DCS?

So your saying that you think if your flying for the USA that you should use a helo that the USA does'nt fly? I said it once I'll say it again. They only did that because they did'nt have anything else to fill the role. If they had an American helo ready to go they sure would'nt have made the KA-50 flyable for the USA. Don't you think it would be better and more appropriate to use an aircraft that the USA actually has? Hence the NEED for the apache. Also I dont know for a fact that USA will have access to the KA-50 and neither do you. Things may change post patch. Im sure if they do the Apache they will remove KA-50 from the American Roster. They should.

How about the Strike Eagle?

...F-15E or derivatives for me

Somehow, I wish international users of Strike Eagles make contracts with Eagle Dynamics for desktop simulators so that there would be a possibility for DCS F-15E or I or K or SG

Although an F-15C with DCS levels of fidelity is highly appreciated too..

Or How about the Su-30 derivatives.. so many users of export and usually modified Su-30 variants these days.. :)

Anyways these are just wishes ;)

So your saying that you think if your flying for the USA that you should use a helo that the USA does'nt fly?

1 - You said that we need the Apache to get an even playing field in multiplayer.

2 - I said, we don't, since the Ka-50 was made flyable by all sides.

3 - You said, no, not for the USA.

4 - I flew it for the USA and screenshotted.

5 - You move the goalpost.

The original goalpost was gameplay balance for the two "teams" in multiplayer. Go read your own post. If that's not what you actually meant, then fine, but don't go getting confused due to the fact that I responded to what you actually wrote.

Don't you think it would be better and more appropriate to use an aircraft that the USA actually has?

Yes. "better" and "more appropriate". But not needed for for a "level playing field in multiplayer".

Hence the NEED for the apache.

Not for gameplay balance we don't. That's my point. That's what you asked to get.

Also I dont know for a fact that USA will have access to the KA-50 and neither do you. Things may change post patch. Im sure if they do the Apache they will remove KA-50 from the American Roster. They should.

So wait, due to the fact that the Ka-50 might be rendered no longer flyable at all sides after a possible DCS:Apache release, we need a DCS:Apache to make both sides have flyable attack helicopters in multiplayer?

I'm sorry, but I'm just not following. I can understand wanting the Apache - I'd love that too. But to say we "need" one for gameplay balance is silly - if you want a "level playing field" in regard to helicopters, which I again remind you is what you explicitly stated, you already have that.

My Next DCS Aircraft Wish?

The Plain Old SU25, with all the buttons working and full 6 DOF

what else?........;)

Flying the Frog in FC2 is brilliant now, Imagine what it would be like in DCS along side the A10.

The Apache is not the counterpart for the Ka-50, so the argument taken literally make no sense anyway.

It just makes sense in a matter of "we need a flyable helo on the US-side". But that's what we already have, as we can fly the Ka-50 on all sides.

Besides that, quite opposed to A2A-planes, helos and CAS-planes are simply not meant to combat each other. So making an aircraft flyable for all sides is perfect balancing. IMHO that's also why the already demanded opposing pairs, like Su33 and F/A-18, Mig29 vs F-16 or something like that, can't be transfered 1:1 to ground-pounders like the Ka-50, Su-25 or the A-10.

That you'd like to see the Apache is a different question and I agree with you on that part. But I'd also see a lot of other aircraft, Russian and US.
