Don't focus too much on the release alt, the abort alt and min recovery alt are far more important. As long as you either get the weapons off or abort in order to stay above your desired min alt and/or min safe escape it's all good.

Why does the A-10 Warthog HOTAS not have force feedback?

I guess because it is a pretty heavy thing. I can't imagine its size and cost, if it had FFB.

Assuming you are talking about the Thrustmaster product, that would be a question for their product development team. ;)

Hey guys, I know this has been covered soooo can someone please point me toward the thread that discusses dropping more than 1 JDAM on a pass...

FFB is pointless when aircraft have hydraulics-driven flight controls.

And though FFB can be nice for MRFCS, I wouldn't pay twice for it.

No it is not. In the case above, FFB will give you physical feedback of the trim state, something a non FFB stick can not do.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Because elvators don't have trim tabs, right?

Well, I admit it's a particular case. I've tried several profesional sims (F/A-18 and Eurofighter ASTA) and I can guarantee you don't get any feedback from flight. They are FBW aircraft though.

Some A/Cs have either artificial force feedbacks or at least simple variable force devices. MiG-29 for example are equipped with the latter. The slower you fly, the smaller forces are needed to move the control stick. As it is with many Russian machines - if MiG-29 has it, Su-27 and other A/Cs of the generation have it too :)

My question regarding the modeling of such devices in LO series remains unanswered...

I'm not talking about flight surface actuator control force feedback, i am talking about stick center point. Look at the stick in the A-10 when you trim, it is changing its center point. If you have a FFB stick, it does the same.

I have a few questions. I host a multiplayer server running a mission which has options set to absolute maximum difficulty, but there are still a few things which don't quite make sense. Firstly, one of my friends mentioned that he was still able to use the "cheat" auto-start (not the realistic auto-start which is initiated by pushing the throttles forward to idle, after all other steps have been taken, but rather a fake one where all steps are performed for you). Any way to turn this off?

Another thing is that, although my radios aren't even turned on, some text pops up when I first start to taxi (my subtitles are turned off in my individual options, but these still show up), and another text pops up upon anyone taking off, informing me of the takeoff and who it was. Any way to disable these?

Another question: I've made a simple mission for us to practice dogfighting. Nothing but a few aircraft starting on the ramp at the same airfield, all on the same side. I noticed that these air kills are counted as friendly kills; is there any way in the mission editor to set two opposing sides to both have A-10Cs, to get around this?

Last question is ... two friends and I wanted to take turns duelling while the other spectated, but, even with external cameras forced "available" in the mission, we could only see our own aircraft from external. Any way to make it so that spectators can observe all aircraft with the F2 external camera?

No. It's a feature of the sim, just don't use it.

Yes. Use this mod.

Some countries other than the US have the A-10C available. Set such a country in the Red coalition and add some A-10Cs for that country in your mission.

Yes. Use this mod.

Looks cool. Does this affect multiplayer compatibility?

Thanks. How about the P-51D? Same deal?

Is there any difference between that mod and setting:

disable_events = true,

in the server's Config\network.cfg (in the user profile directory, i.e. Saved Games\DCS\Config)?

This is all I've done to remove the multiplayer messages about kills and takeoffs/landings.

No, if the server you're flying on has that option set. The mod will remove the messages when you fly on any server.

Multiplayer

Hi all,

I've played solo since the Flanker 2.5 days and now I would like to graduate to multiplayer. I once read a thread detailing newbie-friendly servers and teamspeak info, but I cannot seem to find it, or know if it even still exists.

I'm looking for a group of friendly arm-chair pilots who might be able to teach a few things to a fellow like me, fly seriously at times, but doesn't mind that I can't afford a thrustmaster warthog kit or gallivanting and loop-de-looping under bridges while intoxicated when there's nothing better to do.

Question: how can I make an A.I. A-10 attack my A-10 in the editor? I got it to work with the P-51D, but I don't seem to be able to set an A-10 to any air-to-air tasks. If I set him to use no task or an air-to-ground task, he ignores me and doesn't even try to defend himself.

Hello, I was in a "ask a question here" thread and ended up here, don't know if this is the right place to ask a question but I'm going to anyway. I just downloaded DCS World and there is no sound in the training missions. There is a fix which I've downloaded but I don't know the steps involved in replacing a .dll file. The instructions tell me to copy/or rename the old file and install the new one. I had trouble with joysticks and files and I'd like to get it right. I looked on YouTube for a video tutorial but there was nothing specific really. The one I did find involved an explorer .dll replacement but I couldn't understand a word that was said. I caught the word click control something button, so I was a bit confused at that point. Can anyone help? I need a step by step 101 type instruction. Thanks.

*Find your DCS folder, probably in:

Whatever drive you installed on/program files/eagle dynamics/DCS world

*Once you're there search for ed_sound.dll (I'd tell you where to look but I can't remember and I'm away from the PC)

*Save the one you find as a back up incase something goes wrong

*Drag in the appropriate file from Wags in place of the old one (depends on 32 bit or 64 bit OS)

*enjoy :)

...hope this works, some one will undoubtedly remember the exact file location

System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

You need to make sure that you set up the a-10 to have some Aim9's or they wont do anything. Also, the a-10 is not designed as a fighter. While the aim9's expand the envelope in which it can operate, the a-10 is better off running or getting out of there.
