Scabbers Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 so was mine. with so many wanting to fly as the real guys do. I would think that would apply. however others always like to be the super pilot.... was just an input :) Now where is that speed brakes control again? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Poor mans sniper Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 #2. More accurate/more like real life than what? Are the models more accurate and detailed, and more realistic physics (wind blowing the bomb or bomb clusters off-target)

AlphaOneSix Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Got a little of-topic there for a moment. Now, answer? Sorry, I'm not sure if English is the problem here, as I don't know your first language. You are asking if the models are more accurate and more detailed and if the physics are more realistic. My question in response is: More than what? What would you like us to compare it to? The answer is almost certainly "yes", but I'm sure there is something else out there that's more realistic/accurate/detailed, although as far as commercially-available flight sims go, I don't think there is one.

W.Sanders Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Newbie here....haven't really played this series at all in ages but just found out about the a-10 :doh:anyway i keep seeing photos with other aircraft in them apart from the A-10...are these playable units or AI controlled? Are they from another game that is compatible (hopefully) with DCS A-10C....will I have to buy this game? Cheers
AlphaOneSix Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 It seems needless to say I think he meant compared to previous ED products. As in...atmospheric physics modeling on weapons. If that is the case, the answer is easy. Yes! DCS:A-10C will be more accurate, detailed, and realistic than previous ED products. More than likely, I mean, hopefully....well, probably...err...nevermind I don't have any idea! dont quote me! Oops!
nomdeplume Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 anyway i keep seeing photos with other aircraft in them apart from the A-10...are these playable units or AI controlled? Are they from another game that is compatible (hopefully) with DCS A-10C....will I have to buy this game? AI controlled as Oscar said, however ED's plan is for the game to be compatible with other DCS titles. Currently that means you'll almost certainly be able to fly the Ka-50 'Black Shark' Russian attack helicopter in network/internet play with the A-10C, which may give some interesting FAC possibilities. You may also be able to fly alongside whatever the next aircraft is, but that hasn't been announced and a lot can change before it's released, so I wouldn't make any purchasing decisions based on that notion. There's also a slim possibility of being able to play alongside the aircraft in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2, which is a lower-fidelity simulation of several other aircraft. The latest reading from the magic 8-ball as to whether they'll be network compatible said "highly doubtful" so I wouldn't make decisions based on the assumption they will be. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed though, just in case it helps.
Slayer Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Improved AI? Many times DCS:Blackshark begins to feel like a shooting gallery. The men don't flee and the vehicles just stay stationary when everything around them is being blown up. Is there going to be any improvement to the AI so they act more realistically? aaron886 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 If you think about it... once you eliminate surface to air threats, there's not a lot ground units can do against an attack helicopter, unless you're just way too close. You'd have to be very fast to run from a Vikhr. :smilewink: I would like to see more small-arms fire though.
nomdeplume Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Well they can maneuver to better locations, e.g. behind buildings or the terrain to get out of the helo's line-of-sight, forcing it to relocate itself (into a potentially more dangerous location). And air defence units too far from the action could move into a firing position - no more hovering in a safe place and raining Vikhrs down on the helpless foe with impunity. Even just delaying the attack helicopter could give your own site's air forces long enough to respond and drive them off. I expect ED's view is that it's up to the mission designer to add dynamic responses if that's desired in the mission, and DCS: Warthog gives the designer more power to do that. Against the A-10, it'd be nice for close-packed ground units (e.g. in a convoy) to scatter once they come under fire, which would be an effective way to counter cluster bombs and rocket attacks. It wouldn't always be desirable though, so it'd need to be somehow under the control of the mission designer.
