btw i got HOTAS number 391 ;)

Mine is 118. :D

I got it on Thursday. Nothing negative so far, really, except I spent the first evening trying to dim the throttle base lights which were (are) very bright until I finally found the small footnote at the TM page saying they cannot be dimmed - yet. The lights stay on even after I power down my computer.

The stick feels very precise, the centering force from the 5 springs is quite strong which I'm not used to after CH and X52 sticks. I only wish the throttle handles were made of metal too, because the cold metal stick in my right hand feels so good.

I'm worried. I'm about to write a review of this thing in December and I can't seem to find any flaws in it. In my view even its price is surprisingly low. I know it's partly because it uses a single sensor for the stick instead of two. (This is not a shortcoming, it's just good design.)

Can't fault mine either the stick is outstanding compared to what I'm used too.

First two digits are quite hard to read on my throttle, I think it is 00538

As it was said before thelight staying after you power doewn the PC are probably the MTB USB plug destined to USB wake up so they never power down, try another USB plug for the throttle.

Very good noone but the girlfriends, wifes are pissed with the throttle.

Got mine this morning courtesy of Home Delivery Network, which contrary to rumour delivered an unblemished box (full of goodness) and took less than 24 hours from confirmation of dispatch by Amazon UK. They also honoured their best price deal (£329.99 + £1.99 delivery)

It is a beautiful piece of equipment, that I think is well worth the money.

I'm trying hard to think of something to report about it that hasn't already been said.

The "S4 lever" is slightly different from the Cougar, much more solid with a longer "throw" but all the buttons and switches are so tactile on both the stick and the throttle.

Even with the two part throttles disengaged (which I guess in A-10C is the realistic way to operate them) they don't feel in the slightest "wobbly" laterally and the fore and aft is extremely smooth. They fit, my albeit large hands, very well and the brushed metal finish feels good.

I have checked out that the Target software does run OK if I'm prepared to use a US keyboard, which I'm not. I've checked all the switches out in the sim and apart from finding that the default for the POV switch on the Throttle was indeed for Views rather than Trim, as I was expecting, every thing else was Plug in and Play.

I am like everyone else finding the micro stick far too sensitive when zoomed in. But as that is only on the TGP, and not wanting to upset the other things that it controls (HUD and MAV) I'm going to leave that until it is hopefully debugged.

I have a Hall Sensor set of RCS pedals that I've left attached to the Cougar throttle base and have not had to touch that install at all. All runs as it should do. (All I need now is for CubPilot to come out with his USB and brake pedal mod and I'll be set.)

To sum up. Lovely bit of kit. I'm well pleased.

(Just wish the TM MFD's were built as well. Mine lasted half an hour before total failure. he ho)

Edit: Just had to change the Cougar Rudder axis to Joy_Z and Clear all the other Cougar Axis commands to avoid confliction. All good now.

my inner OCD means i'm constantly worried that my throttles arent evenly set so spend ages twiddling. the torottle is taking some getting used to. so many controls and its not moulded to your hand like a viper throttle. you have to mould your hand to it! the microstick isna an issue for me. theres an ingame bug with exmpanded FOV in the TGP and slew rates so that will be fixed

My own OCD from DCS:BS means I refuse to start any flight/mission without first pressing rctrl+enter for the controls box, so I just use that for confirmation of control placement.

I weighed up getting the TM Warthog, but instead went the G940. That sounds silly I know; the Warthog is everything I want in a HOTAS whereas the G940 doesn't even rival it, but I can't justify that kind of expenditure to buy a stick replica of an aircraft I have little interest in ;)

I'll be there for TM Hornet.

I just re-read my earlier post and there were loads of spelling mistakes. I was too excited to run spellchecker. That’s not happened in a few years!

Just finished first proper flight and am letting the metal on the throttle grips cool a bit.

Mavericks are soooooooooooooooooooo much easier with the proper controls. Even with the current WIP nature I scored 3 kills without breaking a sweat.

I need to map a zoom view to something as I couldn’t hit the Eiffel tower with the GAU right now, but that me not the stick.

The throttle, once you get start getting used to it is awesome and my Cougar throttle looks like an Atari controller next to it. I’m using cursors instead of the mini stick till ED brings out the next beta hopefully with the FOV/Slew bit fixed.

I've mapped the Mic switch to the TGP pod slew for now. You can map each slew driection to the Mic buttons as well as an axis. Seems to work well. I then use the CMS centre button (currently unused) as a modifier so that I can still use the Mic switch when this is pressed in.

How about using the slider on the throttle for zoom?

On the other hand, it's F-16 stick with (half) F-15E throttle ;)

Yes they should, except they're not available/released yet.

First sighting of those should be at a show next weekend (check saitek's blog), and they may even be hinting at selling off a few units there, though that may only apply to their other stock.

F-16's controllers offer more functionality. Just count the number of rotaries and buttons on that thing. Whenever a brand wants to inspire themselves for a high end controller the F16 naturally comes on top.

So are they made from metal or plastic molded to resemble brushed metal?

Are you talking about the two throttle levers? The part that rests against your palm is aluminium - or at least it feels like it judging by its ability to conduct heat - but the rest of the levers is made out of plastic. Which is a shame, really. Then again Warthog would cost a good deal more, if all the intricate lever parts were machined too.

The joystick grip is all metal, but you all knew that. It feels very, very good in my hand and it takes me exactly where I want to in the sim. Good job, TM.

The only thing missing in A-10C throttle compared to F-16 are rotaries. I agree, that is the big issue when you want to fly a fighter jet because you can't have antenna elevation on an axis. I wish they based left throttle on the one from F-15 too, with vertical rotary.

But other than that, you can map much more functions to A-10C throttle. It has two hats versus one on F-16 and four 3-position switches versus two. It also has three pushbuttons (one on the left throttle, one in right hat and one in analog stick). So it's not as ergonomic, but more functional.

And the stick compared to F-16 has also extra pushbutton in CMS switch ;)

I do use the ANT rotary for cockpit zoom for most sims, so I may miss that a little. I really don't know if there is anything else about my U2-NXT modded Cougar I will miss, and I really love my Cougar.

Use the Throttle Friction Control lever (Slider 0 Axis). Works a treat.
