The Serpent's Head mission. The thunder and lighting were spectacular. I used RShift+J to turn on the "Jigglycam" in the cockpit, and it was a match made in Heaven for that mission. Climbing above the clouds for the first time, and seeing the sun and deep blue sky was surreal. When it came time to dive back into the clouds, I thought I would have all kinds of room.

"Pull up! Pull up!" Dead. Wow! Time to put my game face on, and follow that flight plan like it's life or death! I was focused like a laser on my second attempt. I cut the throttle, dove down at about 25 degrees, and even managed to remember the speedbrakes. My plane was enveloped in the thick clouds for what seemed like an eternity, and I was just waiting for that dreaded GCAS Break message!

Thankfully, it never came, and when I finally broke through and could see just how close I was to the river, and how narrow that valley was, I puckered up, maneuvered to a level flight, and started breathing again! From there to the target, I was yanking and banking through that river valley with an enormous grin on my face the entire time!

The second half of the mission was frantic as well, but to make a long story short, it involved MANPADS, left engine on fire, evading MiGs, and forging a new path home, since I could no longer climb over the mountain range!

Damn, I need to fly that mission again! :pilotfly:

Dragon thats an awesome screenshot. That would be something to be a part of. Incredible..

My wow moment happened the first time I HAD to refuel in SP. I did some CAS with FAC successful and was on station for a while. I checked out to go pick up some fuel as I was a long way from home and I was looking a bit bingo in case of emergency. So i cruise up to the tanker, just winging it since Id never really done it....

So the wow comes when somehow I manage to tap the boom wrong and I spin over and watch in horror as the tanker goes into divebomb kamikaze mode and my hopes of returning home safe explode in a million pieces.... It was about 1:30 seconds of wow as I watched in horror... lol. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu*

My WOW moment happened when I was scanning the area with TGP and suddenly seeing missile coming towards me. (RWR was broken)

That would also qualify for an 'Oh S#@t' moment.

Dude, did your wing fall off JUST before you were about to land? That crash actually looked quite realistic, not just a simple boom.

Come fly with me.

During the Hideout SP mission was my wow moment. 130 degrees SE of Rendevous Point for 2 NM , 18000 ft, chatting to Uzi 21 I had my first hypoxia episode.

Screen blurs and HUD and all the instrumentation become difficult to read. Starting to beccome annoyed. Damn you video card.... Damn you Catalyst software.... Damn you ATI *Shakes fist at the screen*

Vision goes from bad to just plain un-flyable. Then the mind clicks over. This isn’t hypoxia is it?????? Not in a Study Sim? Well let’s try something. The blurring was too difficult to try and kfumble for the switches and dials on the environment panel so I headed back to IP and dropped down to 12000 and the screen reverts back to visual perfection.

Wow!!!! This is unbelieveable. In my start up procedure, guess who didn’t switch on the oxygen........ what a great sim. No if only my MP would work and stop crashing to desktop.

Lesson learned. Dont’ take shortcuts with procedures.

10 minut flight home on fire only to ---------

----- realize that you should have pulled the fire t-handles, fired the extinguisher bottles and shut off the engines.

And ejected if that didn't stop the fire.

What really WOW'd me was in FC2 riding the Hog, though. Snuck up on a SA-6 Site behind Terrain, ready to pop up and kill the radar vehicle with a MAV. *Rifle* when all the sudden 4 launcher vehicles go bonkers and launch their missiles but not a chirp on the RWR.. they shot down my Maverick.

Launch vehicles are TELAR (Transporter Erector Launcher and Radar) - Do not need the search radar as they are autonomous.

Lots of them of course, but its the little things that keep getting me. The other day I was watching a track and looking the plane over from the outside when I happened to see the head on the TGP rotate!!

Always strange to see the aircraft trailing off, often the first glimpse I get at the full extent of the damage.

DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'.

(yes, corny. Sorry.)

Flew one of the Free Flight Missions to play around with the CDU and when on my way to Anapa decided to go a bit of rushing through the mountains.

I was at angels 24 at that time and made a real cool dive over my right wing, letting the plane fall like a damocles sword from the sky... then I looked at the HUD and saw my speed indicating 430+ knots - eh, wait that is too fast!

So I decided to cut the throttle to idle and before I could add airbrake, I heard the Master Caution and then nothing. All went black... That was my first and most beautiful flame out.

As I was close to 5000 feet by then, I rocked the throttle and pressed the IGN switches. Left engine came back to life and with that I managed to get her stable out of the dive, into level flight. WOW!!! My avionics were gone wild. HUD ladder was 90° to the horizon, and most stuff seemed useless.

So I struggled down the immense adrenaline rush and switched the APU on. Motored the fuel from the right engine and did a "standard" startup procedure and got it back to life.

Then switched back SAS, changed from HARS to EGI and my Avionics / HUD were back to normal.

I diverted to Gelendhzik and managed to get her down.

The funny thing is, I did not read any of the emergency procedures stuff, just did what I thought was right. It worked like a charm and I felt this "Wow, this must be so close to the real thing!"

There are so many cool details and astonishing features, apart from bombing things in this, it's incredible! :sorcerer:

Wow. Are you sure you didn't just switch off the engines by pulling the throttle back? Does the TM warthog do that?

Nope! You have to pull them over the hump! I know for sure because I had to switch the right engine off, to do a startup procedure with the APU.

Normally there is a warning when you cut the throttle to much at hi speeds, but this time there simply was no time they went out immediately...

I was rushing from the sky like crazy:lol:

And some people even ask why we would like a A-10 sim! This aircraft is an amazing mix of an old, very forgiving airframe, with top notch avionics. I also had an emergency situation with fuel before, and not knowing what to do, did what seemed right at the moment, like you did. In my case, the aircraft also responded nicely.

Wow, sometimes it seems we are not talking about a sim, but the real thing...

This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly:

a couple of nights ago, i was set up to be the afac, and thus was carying a center fuel tank. smart me figured i'd use that one first, so i started upp the apu, and then the engines, with only the center fueltank (ext) booster pump on.

Everything works like a charm, til i'm positioned on the runway, and starts to spool up the engines.......

the one fulepump doesn't have it in her to deliver to both engines @ takeof trust..! and that ment i havd to abort the takeof, with no engines running, and just minimal electrics ;)

For some reason in 1.1.0.7 every time one of my guys took damadge the A-10C would catch fire with no way of putting it out. the fire extinguisher were used on both engines and engines were restarted with no problems. And in my groop the guys have to buy there equipment for offical mission. He was trying to save his $$14,000,000 A-10C. I put a twist on flying to add a concaquince to failure, it adds a little somthing to the game that it is lacking ( A reason not to get shot down and grab another air frame ).
