Gupyzer0 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I think folks are having trouble accepting that FC2 is the end of the line. the end of russian planes ... i love the F/A-18 (janes F/A-18 was my first sim) but come on ED ...
Pilotasso Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 The Mig-29SMT was listed as one of the probables in a thread years ago, maybe one day, who knows? :) .

Grimes Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Just getting the AI and mission editor of WH into FC2 would pay dividens in what sort of scenarios are possible. Add in the new units, 3d models, terrain, and airbases and you've got quite a nice upgrade with or without DCS compatibility. I think its asinine to think that FC2 is "at the end of the line", considering its a product that came out just over a year ago. Besides it makes alot of sense to keep FC2 alive as it acts as a perfect gateway drug to DCS. I suppose the real question is how long would an update take? They expected it to take 2 months to update a product that was at least 6 years old to be compatible, how long does it take when they try to upgrade a product that is just over a year old to the new features? The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Viper101 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 (edited) Sure? I can almost feel the F-18C. I can't, there's no point. LockOn/DCS engine is horrible for carrier operations. I'd rather land on the deck of Javier Fernandez's carrier in FSX than the Vinson in a decked out DCS module. Unless DCS had a brand new high quality aircraft carrier with working ILS, catapults, etc... Edited May 29, 2011 by Viper101 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted May 29, 2011 ED Team Posted May 29, 2011 .. Unless DCS had a brand new high quality aircraft carrier with working ILS, catapults, etc... If infact we got a module for DCS with the F-18C (or whatever), i'd say those things are pretty much a given, considering the high standards for DCS. ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
graywo1fg Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 it may be a weak point, but only because we only had the Su33 which is of course an aircraft that hasn't used a catapult. We'll see what they do, who says they wouldn't work on it LOL Voice of Jester AI Death From Above =DFA= Squadron Discord - https://discord.gg/deathfromabove http://www.twitch.tv/graywo1f https://www.youtube.com/user/Lonewo1fg

VIKBELL Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 ED please dont let the F/C 3 derail the next project. There are 2 categories of fighter pilots: those who have performed, and those who someday will perform, a magnificent defensive break turn toward a bug on the canopy. Robert Shaw

It ain't perfect but you can make do, as in the VNAO mod: http://www.virtualnavairops.com/forum/vultures-row-general-discussion/2578-how-do-i-join-vnao.html Sure, it has its limitations, but so do all the FC2 aircraft (which are not up to the extremely high standards of DCS). You can do joint operations and this results in decent combined arms play that require teamwork and using the strengths of each platform (fighter, attack, helo): Here are some videos of recent VNAO cooperative missions (credit: VNAO's "JAR"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXxXsLefn6Q or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjtWYhsGjKU It is a re-creation of the Operation Geronimo mission to kil Osama bin Laden, but with the twist that the Pakistani Air Force scrambles to enforce its sovereignty. ps: if you watch the PLAT landing you'll see a pilot with the callsign "X-Man". He's a US Navy trainee aviator and currently flies the T-45 Goshawk for real. He has been selected to fly the Hornet so with transition to that soon. He's livin' the dream :) pps: If ED do make a FC3 I'll personally be willing to pay for it. This is such a great game and the combined arms aspects (FC2 works with Ka-50, and hopefully one day with A-10C is a great strength of the series). 104th_Crunch Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Nice video examples of creating ops with what is available in FC Moa. Looks like fun!
Cali Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 If they do FC3 or add another flyable, I'll be happy either way. This is only going to make them more money in the long run. DCS is great, but it takes a while to make one aircraft. Making patches for FC is going to keep a lot of people interested. 1 i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

EtherealN Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 oh well ... there is a manual of SU-27 around ... :D but ... there is a lot of info about the F/A-18... oh well ! Well, obviously which plane has "a manual [...] around" isn't really relevant. ED needs more than just a pilot's manual. They need the right aerodynamic data (more than just the normal charts and graphs pilots use - those are the effect, ED needs information on the cause), they need the avionics, hydraulics, a good working knowledge of the mechanical aspects of everything, and then preferably some good information about the platform's main weapons... These things aren't always easy to come by, and even if ED comes by them they might not be able to use them. (For example, we got DCS:A-10C because the american armed forces graciously gave ED permission to use certain information towards a commercial product - otherwise it would have been DCS:A-10A. ;) ) So in the end, I suspect even people like Igor and Matt and Jim etcetera have a relatively limited say on which plane is next. My guess is the shortlist sort of creates itself through the military projects and whatever information is gained and cleared. :) (Which incidentally means that those who want a russian plane next should keep loobying operators of russian planes to give TFC/ED some contracts. Personally, I'd be very enthusiastic about a MiG-29K in an Indian subcontinent setting.
