Well, others wait since DCS A-10C beta years ago and are still patient... just to give you some perspective! :D
I only bought the A-10C beta because I wanted to fly the Ka-50 around Las Vegas. NTTR is looking a lot nicer than it did back in beta, and now I have a Huey with civilian skins. I think the wait will be worth it.

Flying a Helo at low altitude with all this detail will be a Game Changer in DCS:thumbup:

 

With only 360 x 360 km of terrain, 3 airports and a town, this is only a demo...

360x360k terrain packed with 3 airports (complete airports :D)

will definitely be a breakthrough in the flight simulation industry.

 

Everything is a rumor (if not in your hard drive already) and everything is subject to change, so in the end, be proud of what you have and always be ''pessimistic'' for the things you wait from others. That last thing, I ve learn it in the hard way...

 

So lets wait and see what this 360x360k breakthrough theatre will be like.. :smilewink:

Just to give you some perspective, the map has been redone atleast once since that time, not to mention probably redone when it was first taken over by ED from the 3rd party. As well, its now become the initial map in the new line of map creation with the onset of a new IG. So it certainly isnt just the simple creation of a map that has taken so long. Please feel free to find someone with the beta map and do comparison shots with the screenshots we have seen so far, and note the differences... and what we have seen isnt even in the sim yet.

 

Perspective. ;)

Attached is an image that displays the area covered by the NTTR map for DCS. This is a 360x360 km area that includes three functional airfields: Nellis AFB, Creech AFB, and Groom Lake (aka Area 51 / Dreamland). The focus of this map is the NTTR. I've attached an image of the new lights being worked on for the airfields.

 

The immediate areas around these three airbases use 1 meter texture resolution. The outlying areas of the map are 16 meter resolution, and the areas in between are between 2 and 4 meter resolution. While we would love to cover the entire map in 1 meter resolution, there needs to be a balance of resolution vs. map file size. Even with the use of lower resolution textures in places, the map is already 26 GB (this will be reduced to a degree once the map is within DCS).

 

After the map is released, it is quite possible that we will expand it, add additional detail, new airfields, etc. as we did for the Black Sea map.

 

As mentioned earlier, we are close to moving EDGE and this map into DCS. Once this is done, we can start the process of debugging and tuning. Given that this is the first EDGE-based map to be in DCS, we are not sure exactly how long this process will take.

 

Red dots mark airfields in the area, green with black outline are the three that are stated by Wags to be functional.

Matt, any chance to see some other airfields more ? At least runways only (without taxiways, stuctures, beacons) those are much more easy to make :idea:

I am aware of that! That's why I still wait patiently. No whining. No complaint. No hurry.

I have the Beta 2 or 3 map installed and, well it is quite a difference :megalol:

I think ED did a very courageous and yet necessary move, to go for a new engine.

Albeit, all the ranting people need to realize, rhetoric old engine is already pushes to its limits. So better take years to do it right, than quickly push out a bad map or worse a performance killer, because of bad optimization and integration.

I have full confidence they will do it right!

New graphic engine on the horizont???

 

In pics regarding FW 190 Dora announcement, I see a lot of graphics improvement, depth of field, etc, so my question is, we will see this graphics in upcoming dora addition, in august?

The New Engine (EDGE) is scheduled to be release with DCS World 1.3.0.

The New DX12 Engine (EDGE) is scheduled to be release with DCS World 1.3.0.

 

My question is because it is showed in pics and also in promo video regarding FW 190 pack, really looks very good specially lens flares and haze on the horizon

... waht is this EDGE everybody talks about here and there?

I'm pretty new here (came here through the Kickstarter) and wonder what this EDGE might be? Is it an improved graphics version or something?
