When I watched the Corsica video for the first time, I had to wind back and look close... but there, actually flying seagulls over the marina (@ 1:23 min, @1:53 min right side...etc.)

I love this little detail! :D

What I'm waiting most is working radars, laser distance metering and hitboxes.

Tired to fly a helicopter or airplane when I can lock or track to target behind trees, or missiles can fly trough forest, flying trough trees etc.

If we get trees to work correctly, blocking radar and laser, causing missiles to explode on them, cut wires from missiles and give visual cover. Then it will change game radically.

After physics gets fixed, I can enjoy from improved graphics. Or always fly only on Nevada map as there ain't such forests (un)blocking the view.

In the announcement of the Bf-109K4, I find a sentence very interesting:

"Further maps will be available in 2014. "

Sounds that EDGE + new maps are coming... We have now a 3 month time frame to have those installed in our computers.

The interesting part is mapS as in more than just Nevada!!! That may be just the WW II channel map RRG had started, but my hopes are on additional maybe 3rd parties already working on something in the background...

I'll let myself remain sceptical about this, however things are definitely beginning to look good. ED has started regularly releasing products this year, which means more revenue and hopefully that leads to delivering to us the experience we have been waiting for for some time now. You know, DCS World actually becoming World.

Hopefully not just a very optimistic estimation date from ED or just a marketing thing. Just had a quick look: They have this sentence since Sabre announcement and that was on the end of May.

Some scepticism is always adviseable. Otherwise one is likely to fall victim to (self induced) hype and remain disappointed in the end.

2014, while not explicitly confirmed (unless for 1.3.0, which became 2.0.0), is the time frame that´s been hinted at several times by ED and Testers. If they are confident enough to announce the 109 for November 2014 (and the maps along with it since May - thx EagleEye) I would assume that this is equally true for the rest of their plans for the year.

It gives me hope that we will have some more nice things to play with before christmas. Perhaps the christmas sale is what ED is aiming for...

This same sentence was also present in the middle-June Dora announcement: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125824

Yes. So it seems they are serious about it? More maps reads like at least two new maps. Hopefully!

In my mind I still believe that EDGE will be available Soon™... you guys know what that means :) However I'm happy that we got a few releases in the past months that kept us busy. Nothing with advanced avionics but hey, fresh stuff at least! :D

I am a little bit more confident in the recent release date estimates. When that statement was made last year, it was just really wishful thinking by ED. Now they actually have a test version that is being used by their external testers and in all of the recent promotional material. We know that NTTR is already in a releasable state, and they have had a bunch of time to work on other secret map projects too.

At this point, I think we should be asking what month, not what year. I am fairly skeptical of ED release dates, but I would be willing to bet money on 2014.

I keep eyeballing the forum banner that says all the services will be down on September 1st... Why is everything, including the MP server, going to be down...

...maybe to get a facelift in celebration of the update to

DCS WORLD 2.0!!

At least that's what I've convinced myself, until the day comes and goes.

Hmm, scheduled maintenance... security updates for servers, update product download storage and additional resources in preparation for the new module customers of WW II planes, re-organizing the account database after three pre sales etc.

I can think of a lot under the term of "maintenance"... but I hope you are right and I'm wrong! :D

yes,

Basically, everything that is shader or effects based will be upgraded, the only thing that wont change with Caucaus is the Geometry of the Terrain.

How about the terrain textures?

Just got the August newsletter.

Press Release

PRE-PURCHASE DCS: BF 109 K-4 KURFURST

DUXFORD, UK, August 28th, 2014 - DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfurst is now available for pre-purchase!

The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics are happy to announce that DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfurst is now available as a pre-purchase from the DCS e-shop at: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/. The pre-purchase provides both a 20% discount off the retail price and access to the Open Beta coming later this year.

In addition to the 20% purchase discount, pre-purchasers will receive a 20% full-price value in bonus points for future purchases!

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/faq/bonus_rules/

Like previous DCS World titles, DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfurst features a painstakingly reproduced model of the aircraft, including the external model, fully interactive cockpit, mechanical systems, and a Professional Flight Model (PFM). Along the lines of our DCS: P-51D Mustang and DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora titles, DCS: Bf 109K-4 Kurfurst places you behind the controls of a powerful, propeller-driven, piston engine combat aircraft. Designed long before "fly-by-wire" technology was available to assist the pilot in flight control or smart bombs and beyond visual range missiles were developed to engage targets with precision from afar, the Kurfurst is a personal and exhilarating challenge to master. Powerful and deadly, the last production model of the only single-engined German fighter to see service throughout World War II, the Kurfurst provides an exhilarating combat experience to its drivers, and a worthy challenge to all fans of DCS: P-51D Mustang.

Key Features of the DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfurst:

• Unmatched flight physics that allow you to truly feel what it's like to fly this legend.

• Highly detailed, six-degrees-of-freedom (6 DOF) cockpit.

• Interact with cockpit controls with your mouse.

• Accurate Bf 109 K-4 model, squadron markings, and weapons.

• Detailed modelling the Bf 109 K-4 instruments, weapons, engine, radios, fuel, and electrical systems.

• Fly along with fellow DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Doras as you battle DCS: P-51D Mustangs in single and multiplayer games.
