rato65 Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 @Vismonger what version of max do you use? What exact material do you apply in terms of material type in the material editor? I had a similar issue with max 2022 and it was due to the wrong standard material. see few posts above.

I use 2024 but I've tried a handful of versions in the past and they al seemed to do the same, I am still learning 3ds max since I am a blender guy so it could be user error and something easily fixed but I can't find what I missed from the guides. (I use the English version since the normal and translated ones sometimes break the edm tool, or so i've heard)

I downgraded to a 2022 version after a few people said the edm exporter doesn't work with 2024.. but still nothing Edited February 5, 2024 by FalconDriver5005

I've noticed that every time I export using Max 2022, edm plugin build 216821, the bort number animations are broken (args exist in model viewer, but are frozen at the mid-point of the animated number texture). I can see no differences from my external file from 2019 and now that suggest the animation being different in the current iteration. However, when I setup 3ds Max 2022 with any of the 3ds plugin builds from the past few months, the borts are completely absent in model viewer, evidently not exporting with the rest of the model from what I can tell. I've used almost build going back to 229281 with the same result. Any ideas as to what could be going wrong here? My work on the A-4 is pretty much halted until I can sort this out, and despite all of my research and troubleshooting, I've been unable to resolve it. But If you need some help, I'm 99% sure I'm on the A4 discord, you can message me there. You may have to Ping me, as I'm in dozens of Discords. I have been using the blender plugin since February, there is no problem except that we can only give 1 argument to the armature in skin animations. My observations are that it gets better with each new update, the last one was EDM_Glass material as a direct shader node, I think they are working on mirror as well. but you can create mirror and glass even if it is not as a shader node. (tested and confirmed) But there is no channel to report the bugs we encounter, if I remember correctly, I wrote to NineLine and BIGNEWY a month ago about the bugs I encountered. but some of these bugs still exist (in the case of skin animations) In my own projects now, I can use IK, bake emtyp's to make perfect landing gear animations etc. It took me a lot of time with trial and error to learn them and make them work properly in the plugin. I would like to prepare a training document/video about them after the problems with the skin/bones are solved. Me and a friend of mine are in the planning process of making a mod and I can't seem to figure this out. I'm very new to moding in DCS but I have a lot of modeling experience. Working on remastering some of my Models,and during the transistion between Max '16, '20 and '24 plus the dance of plugin installations. Seems I've borked the Gradual On/off Fade of Self Illuminated textures *(Formation and Position Lights), IIRC, Assign Controller, Arg Based Visibility, Then Set track to Linear Float instead of On/Off. However it's still behaving like on/off, that or 3DS Crashes during export. Shouldn't I be allowed to apply a modifier to the DIFFUSE or SELF_ILLUMINATION Amount? Dis-regard I've fixed it. Yeah I've sorted it, was half a messup on my end, and half 3DS '24 not showing texture maps in curve editor. Went back to '16 to test, and export and it worked correctly, Had to remove the old Arg Controller off the Visibility Channel, then assign ArgFloat controller to the Self Illumination Amount, and set that up as reverse -1.0 to 0, since my default value for Self Illumination was 100. Now I have to dig through Max '24 Settings and find out why the curve editor isnt showing anything. Pretty sure it's a default filter, cause it doesnt make sense for AutoDesk to delete a feature that 99% of their clients use. I have tested this with plugin versions "edm_tools_blender_plugin-239340.zip" and "edm_tools_blender_plugin-239341.zip" on Blender versions 3.6, 4.0, and 4.2. Additionally, attempting to export models from the Learning_Demo folder also results in Blender crashing. Blender does not show me any error messages and no crash reports are generated. OS: Windows 10 64-Bit. I don't know if the plugin you're using is from ED or a user called Tobi. I found that Tobi's EDM plugin would not work with anything above Blender 2.X. Downloaded an earlier version of Blender and it worked fine. You might try that.
