Bluedrake42 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 It would be nice to pay yearly subscriptions to have access to all DCS products (third party included) released that year or so instead of paying on a product by product basis. You would announce at the beginning of the year what products are expected to come out, and would offer mass pre-orders (kinda like subscriptions) for all those products. So like... let me pay 100$ for the F18C, F15E, Combined Arms, and Maybe something else. Instead of 50 dollars each or whatnot. 1 http://www.youtube.com/bluedrake42 Subscribe to me

WildBillKelsoe Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 pricing is not an issue for me, so long as its DCS standard, which has always been. Robski Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Absolutely Not!!!! I don't mind paying for whatever they release, whenever they release it. As soon as they have imposed deadlines (e.g. 4 titles a year) it'll all go to rat $h1t. This Development process (and the guys involved) are something special and unique until now. I've walked the Sim desert for many years..... occasionally stopping to drink at the odd PMDG, F4.0 oasis along the way. But for now drink deep friends and give thanks to the Sky Gods that you live in a time of fast (enough) CPUs and pilgrims of extraordinary talent and commitment (that's you Devs). Oh and make sure you buy all the titles as they come out

You are thinking of embarking on a simulator project thats going to cost over $50k and you want discounted software? You are making me think your other thread is a joke.
112th_Rossi Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 The implications of a subscription based system would be that it would possibly cause undue pressure on the dev team to publish half finished products because of a misguided entitlement by the subscribers. It's better to pay when they are released, that way theres no implied time limit to have products pushed out the door. 1
Gary Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 To give bluedrake the benefit of the doubt here, it was not my impression that they wanted cheaper software (although their example implies this unfortunately) My reading of the post was that it was more a suggestion to try and make things a little easier. Perhaps an alternative suggestion would be to give everyone the ability to accumulate credits in their accounts. So for example I could deposit say £10 per month into my account (up to a limit of say £100) so that as soon as a module is released I would be able to purchase and play. Not necessary for me - but might be really useful for those on a very tight budget. Just my suggestion of what I think bluedrake was getting at. Hornet85 Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 So you want a product for $25 instead of $50? Ohhhh, well why didn't you just say so? Its not cheaper actually. He said subscription. 1 year may be $25 each, but you only have access for one year. 2 years will be $50 each in total, and access for that 2 years only. If you plan on playing for 3 years, that will be 75$ each. And after that you still lose all access unless you continue paying. Subscription-based is ALWAYS more expensive in the long run. Its a horrifying model.
