Dudester22 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to improve how it looks in the Rift? I know it's mainly down to the Resolution of the Rift, but just wondered it there are any tips or tricks to improve it?
Random Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) My dk2 arrived. Tried in dcs following the advice to pause thd service etc but its killing my frame rate and head tracking is lagging a lot. Anybody know how to get it working as smoothly as in thd vids ive seen? Specs: haswell i7@ 4.75ghz, 2x gtx 780ti, 16gb RAM. My initial impressions are that dk2 is great for its intended use but CV1 needs to have a far higher resolution. Honestly I think 4k may be a requirement unless they can alter the optics to improve the density of pixels in tge centre of the FOV Edit: Im a moron! Didn't have rift set as primary monitor. Seems sorted now! Edited August 23, 2014 by Random

Random Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Still have judder... but its tolerable. Will keep looking into it!
Dudester22 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I found that turning cock pit shadows off and putting scenery to medium improved it for me. I still have it but it's not as bad.
Random Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 already turned shadows off. From what i've read its a driver issue.
Frusheen Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) It's implemented using an old SDK. I'd love an update but I doubt we will see any improvent until EDGE is released. If ED are working on an update it makes sense they do it in the new engine. Edit: I agree that 4k is needed but I don't expect to see that in cv1. Oculus have stated they want 90hz minimum which rules out 4k due to cable bandwidth issues. Kuky Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 90Hz minimum rules out also being able to run DCS at that FPS... to me doesn't look like OR will replace monitors for DCS any time soon PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Wicaeed Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Has anyone had issues with a strange offset when playing the game on Oculus? I took some pictures to give an indication of the behavior I'm seeing: http://imgur.com/2WxVbNk http://imgur.com/1setcRC Also the head tracking doesn't appear to be working either. Not sure if it's related to the strange resolution/offset issue. I've stopped the OR service before starting DCS as well. Is there an official instruction set for getting DCS to work with Oculus?

I was having the same issue. And what you did wrong is that you did not stopped the OR service properly. Check the vid above again. Also you can pause service from Oculus config utility. Check it. EDIT: You can use This Manager to switch the OR service on/off quickly - thanks to our mate Bilago Edited August 24, 2014 by wasyl00 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Windows 10 Pro x64, Asus PG279Q, i7-6700K, Nvidia GTX1080TI, 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD, TM Warthog, Saitek Combat Pro Rudder Pedals, TIR5+Trackclip

I am using bilagos program to start and stop the service. it has been working but it stopped for me at some point. i ended up having to take its usb plug out and it started to work again. have you got the in game res set to 1920x1080? if its larger that could offset it. The judder means i can't use it for too long, not sure what framerate i am getting so it may not be 75 frames anyway. I can race on it for a long time, i just finished an hour of racing on it at 75fps. No bad feelings afterwards. When the software is working well 75 seems good. Of course more can be better.
TAnker737 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I'm suffering here, using my track ir with the rift in stereo mode. I only can play for 10 min before I start getting dizzy because the screen warping. so close, WHY AMD! why... oh and the cockpits look way more crisp than what others led me to believe. Dudester22 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Can someone tell me why I start in the cockpit lower down? I keep on having to move my camera about before I'm sitting in the cockpit correctly. I like my camera tilted down a little so the camera can pick up the Rift better, but when I do this I'm seated lower down in the Cockpit. Does anyone know if there is a button I can press that re-centers me and has me sitting in the cockpit correctly?

Does anyone know if there is a button I can press that re-centers me and has me sitting in the cockpit correctly? Happens to me often as well. Default recenter key is the '5' on the number pad. I can't remember what it is in the options, 'view centre' or similar. You should see it in the options easily enough, bound to numeric 5. I added it to the joystick.

Markeebo Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I got my rift last week and haven't had a ton of time to try to tweak it. I'm having issues with the head tracking. Some axes are fine. Some of my axes are reversed. Pitch and yaw are fine. Specifically, it's the translation axes. Lean forward and the panel retreats. Opposite of what should happen. Stand up and it's like I just squeezed myself lower in the pit. I've seen this on other forums as an issue for some folks but to date, I have yet to see a solution offered. Hopefully someone else here has seen this and can offer guidance on how to fix it.
Rikus Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Oculus Rift I fly Elite Dangerous with Oculus Rift and i can´t explain, its awesome. Like the first time you fly controlling the views with the pov of the hotas, and then you fly with Track IR, another world. Well, Oculus Rift is a bigger jump than pov to TIR. Are there any plan to add suppor in DCS to Oculus Rift?
