shagrat Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 From a flight last week IN 1.2.0. Gear extended means 'wheels down' and the lever for Gear up/down should be in the 'gear down' position, precisely! What is shown on the screen looks like a wheel got stuck while retracting... BlueRidgeDx Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 For the record, the gear inhibit is based solely on Landing Gear Handle position. It doesn't matter if the gear are actually up or down... Edit: It shouldn't matter. I haven't personally tested in DCS. "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. SUBS17 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Biggest fail for me was completeing the BFT campagin formation mission(BFT 11) and forgetting to turn off the oxygen during shut down. U for that flight retest lol. And heres a video of me during a BFT mission crashing into my instructors aircraft. It sounds so much worse if someone abuses you for doing it.:D What happened was after exiting the MOA I flew straight to the runway once the IP gave permission to go below the hard deck. Only problem was he flew straight to the runway and without calling inbound appeared in front of me so I tried to do the formation landing thing only problem is the AI have better brakes than the AFM.:joystick: [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
elcid Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Anyone ever manage to use the Avenger canon as a nose wheel?
Ironhand Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Practicing aerial refueling the other day, I got frustrated after my 4th failed attempt and decided to take us both down in flames. Set the throttle to full and flew up to ram his tail. Hit the elevator instead and thought: "That's interesting. My head's inside his airplane." Went to F2 external and, sure enough, the left elevator had sliced through the canopy and was resting where my head should have been. Tried F1 to get back into the cockpit and couldn't. Seems I was dead. So...I decided to see what would happen. He dragged me along for about 5 minutes until my aircraft (with my decapitated body inside) slid off and spiraled into the sea. zipdigital Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Today I tried out the "create fast mission" feature. My first engine had finished spooling up, and I had just powered up the second engine when I exploded. o.O After a moment of confusion, I realized it wasn't something I did incorrectly. Instead it was that the the enemy had already engaged my air base prior to the start of the mission. "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron

shagrat Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 The only weapon unable to fire with wheels down is mavericks iircs ;) Just try for yourself... Gear handle in the down position and fire guns, drop bombs, whatever. snafup Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Bombed myself during a run. Dropped the ordinance in a dive and pulled out and got myself instead.
Darkwolf187 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Just was thinking about it.... How do you do that? Are you in a power dive when you drop? I would have thought the drag coefficient of the plane would be much higher than the bomb so it would drop faster than you did and you couldn't hit it... Although I imagine if you're doing a power dive you might be in trouble...
TZeer Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Dropped a CBU-105 on a friendly FARP... FARP was waypoint, tanks incomming, forgot to change SPI from wp to TGP... Didn't help that this was during multiplayer... LOL
badger66 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I cleared out the enemy FARP , had 3 MAV's left so off I went to launch them on their airfield . I missed the message that the emeny FARP was now ours , and on the way back I saw a KA-50 winding up on it (sorry Bast) ..... and let him have 4 full brusts of Gau right up the hoop ..... I was highly pissed off with myself , and Im still appologising to poor Bast !!!

Yeah i was doing a power dive and dropped 2.It was surreal but I caught a quick look at the left bomb as it went in front of my wing just before i took it out myself.
Jona33 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Did that with CBU's, not good. Pushed the nose over as I was releasing them. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
JB3DG Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 You normally blow yourself up in a power dive pushing negative G just after bomb release or during.
GorT Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Rolling in on some Tanks in a steep dive in CCIP mode I pressed weapon release for my MK82's to come off......... Only my wings came off in flames and a quick meeting with the ground shortly after. What happened I asked myself? Upon checking I seamed to have picked MK82AIR's in high drag release!!!!! So it seams I blew myself up with my own bombs crashing into the wings. DOH! Don't ask me for advice on these Two Subjects: 1.. How to Take Off in the Dora! 2.. How to Land the Dora! UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE!
upupandaway Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I managed to do that with a regular iron bomb once... :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
komemiute Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Pulled off a dive SO HARD that literally ripped the wings off. Shoot...
ApoNOOB Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Trying my first landing in formation... And forgot to put my gear down. :/
Meatwod Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Had a HumanVegetable moment and took off from the taxiway the first few times.

Azraeil Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Many many fails. Probably most epic was the time I was coming in formation landing as lead. I forgot to put my gears down and landed on my belly. My wingman at the time (Redfish) was laughing so hard that he also forgot to put his gears downs. We both landed in perfect form on the runway aside from any lackthereof gears.
Chippy Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Tried to do a low flyby past an A-10 that was starting up. It's a shame I only saw the 2 Ka-50's before it was too late, who were hovering right beside him :S. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
