Nate--IRL-- Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 At 1:17 we clearly see that the road is still not fixed, and this is why you have to make the units move "offroad" to make them reach the other side of the city. Any plan to fix the road for a later patch? I can route many ground units through cities using roads. You must be doing some thing wrong. Grimes Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 No, he is right. The railroad effectively is blocking the connection of the two roads and that is the specific bug he is referring to. Purg Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 With the ability to give aircraft waypoints and targets, can you instruct aircraft on the ground to take off or do they need to be in the air already?

leafer Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Really stupid question here, I know, but how do they know which direction their main gun is pointing in a real tank? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
xjiks Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 No, he is right. The railroad effectively is blocking the connection of the two roads and that is the specific bug he is referring to. Yes, that's it, sorry for the OT Here's a little pict of the road (see attachment) In the red circle, the road is cut so you cannot have convoys coming from the north west to the south using "on road" capability (like with the blue line I draw) L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. Try making an AI drive on-road from Supsa to Tksaltsminda. Luckily fuel-consumption isn't modeled for ground units :P
gaz2644 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Really stupid question here, I know, but how do they know which direction their main gun is pointing in a real tank? There are guages inside that tells everyone which way the gun is pointing. Well on a Chally 2 there are anyway [sIGPIC]http://www.uknavalops.co.uk./[/sIGPIC]
leafer Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The new guy gets to stick his head out of the hatch :P I'd volunteer that over my job anyday. :D Fo real. There are guages inside that tells everyone which way the gun is pointing. Well on a Chally 2 there are anyway Thanks. I figured if the driver turned and the crack of the guy sitting in the turret butt is showing then the gun's pointing at the rear. :D ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
shagrat Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) There are guages inside that tells everyone which way the gun is pointing. Well on a Chally 2 there are anyway The gunner knows because it is the direction he is looking through bis gunner sight, commander has his periscope and loader and driver trust in the commander. I guess the point which is the actual problem is: IRL commander tells the driver where to drive, the gunnner what to shoot and the loader what rounds to load. Where in ARMA you do so by point and click the driver to a certain place, designate targets etc. CA forces you into the drivers seat while commanding, acquiring targets and then, while still driving shoot them with the auxiliary gunner sight. All by yourself. sobek Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) I'd volunteer that over my job anyday. :D Fo real. It gets old really quick. ;) In the old rustbucket IFVs the we got to play around, you could just look down and see what orientation the tub was compared to your turret. Of course the turret was crank handle operated, so unless the vehicle was at a full stop, you couldn't hit a barn if you were in it. :D Edited December 20, 2012 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. sobek Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Aye, take it from me: When all hell breaks loose the last place you wanna be is stuck in a tin-can. It gets claustrophobic real damn fast. It's claustrophobic even in peacetime. I'm barely 1,70m tall and i could hardly sit upright in the infantry compartment. People taller than that were doomed to sit in fetal position, which meant they would bang their back everytime the thing went over a bump. Of course some companies had the new ASCODs with fully spring borne luxury infantry seats. Those lucky bastards. :) On the flip side, some of them got their fingers broken by the gun when they opened it for maintenance in cocked position (which it had no safety for). In Austria, military equipment hurts both the target and the shooter. :D Edited December 20, 2012 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Dejjvid Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 That's how we do it in Sweden too. We sold the m/45A k-pist (sub-machinegun) to Egypt during a conflict long time ago. But we sold them the A version, without the hook that holds the rear cap. So a few soldiers got really surprised when the 0.5kg bolt smashed them in the face ^^ i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]

Rongor Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 In the present DCS World Installment of 1.2.2, vehicles dont any longer consider along roads. Every order I issue, makes them leave the road and head the direct route... :(

verana_ss Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Which flightplan is going to be adopted for player when you set a path for AI air-unit prior to RAlt+J? original flightplan or the new one? If the latter, it could be used as a dynamic flight planning ..right?

EDIT:- For FC3 aircraft at least, the new waypoints are shown after R-Alt-Jing back into the cockpit. I haven't checked any DCS aircraft. You must R-ALTJ out in order to set waypoints. Then Jump back in. Nate Edited December 23, 2012 by Nate--IRL-- 1 Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

I mean the possibility of the gameplay, one might put AI planes that just sit in the airbase so the commander can dynamically plan a flight (for either AI or clients) accordingly to the situation change.
