Kaktus29 Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 just found a new theater that would be good to simulate and would be NEW to all the options i listed before.. the 1971 India-Pakistan war that involved all the superpowers influencing, threatening and deciding.. it ended with the creation of Bangladesh and we have India armed with Russian weapons and Pakistan with US weapons.. also battle is in mountains, valleys, sea, air .. its hard to simulate of the non-fighting that was involved that would make this scenario especially HOT as it almost was..but even with that, lots of action in the navy department and air department.. here to read if you were unaware of that war or have little info .. http://www.theworldreporter.com/2011/10/1971-india-pakistan-war-role-of-russia.html

Paradox Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 This would be a good theater. It has al ingredients for a mdoern air and ground war. And a solid background story. Not to mention interesting terrain.
winchesterdelta1 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Yup.. Terrian really importend as well. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Revan Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 where would you like the new theater to be? apart from Georgia and Crimea, where would you like it for a good high intensive war of equal strong opponents? I am thinking of the European theater .. in the future, something like 2020, .. with Europe on the brink, .. tensions going up, and all kind of alliances set in motion, Germany goes solo, goes out of EU, USA threatens economic blockade and sanctions against this unilateral move by Germany, Italy joins Germany, .. on the other hand UK, France and US join together to impose the economic blockade (which is all to easy to implement because of US Navy which is too huge to be countered by anyone) .. Germany threatens WAR if blockade not lifted since the blockade is pretty much a war declaration on its own, and their trade with China is suffering, and even supplies with oil and gas from Russia being threatened to be cut off by Poland who uses this opportunity to gain prestige in the potential victory over Germany and joining the US axis .. Russia and China becoming sympathetic to Germany and like to help but for the moment they are just bystanders.. And then all breaks loose, with one plane getting shot while spying above Germany, Germans go into action against France, Poland, .. cruise missiles flying all over the place, Leopards, Leclercs and all kind of puma's animals are set loose .. After US lands with expeditionary forces in France, at this time Russia joins the fray, together with China giving the troops needed to push the opposing forces to Germany into submission and end the resistance in Europe.. Why do i like this theater so much? because for one, its much more interesting fighting in target rich environment.. and Europe has sooo much stuff to blow up)) lol.. also, it has it all, the Sea to do navy stuff, the coast to do Carrier ops and Land bases efforts to kill of the carrier groups..and the atlantic navy war if China and Germany and Russia try some small scale incursions with subs and their navy to engage the US.. It would be a much bigger project than this "campaigns" fought in Georgia theater in DCS, ..or Crimea that never felt like a real war, more of a skirmish here and there.. What do you guys think? What theater would you prefer?)(and of course the maps would be different)) can you imagine dropping bombs in modern Frankfurt, or Paris, .. or that bloody leaning Pisa Tower in Italy))) ) .. Other theaters don't appeal to me since its just desert and nothing .. Afghanistan, Iraq, .. Libya, .. also, nobody can challenge the attacker in those conditions(Russia, China, maybe even Germany, .. ) since there are no naval capabilities to do something like that?.. This sounds like such an AWESOME idea, although more likely it would be Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia against the US and the UN DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!! Aircraft: A-10C, Ka-50, UH-1H, MiG-21, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T, TF-51
Flogger23m Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I voted Israel and surrounding countries though Iran/Iraq, Vietnam, Koreas, India/Pakistan (maybe China to?) and Germany/western Europe would be great. Israel/Egypt/Jordan - would be great if 1960 era aircraft came out. Some very intense air battles occurred in the 60-70s in this region with fairly equal technology. Modern day Egypt also has F-16s, so a fictional conflict set in modern times can be interesting. Iran-Iraq - An Iran-Iraq War setting would be nice. Again, similar technology. Also Desert Storm. Vietnam - Vietnam theater integrated into DCS World would be very interesting. North/South Korea -Korean war theatre? Or again, fictional conflicts. India/China/Pakistan - Lots of historical wars with air battles. Possibility of future conflicts. If someone can modify the Su-27 into a J-11, make a flyable Mirage-2000, combined with the MIG-21Bis and MIG-29S we will have a decent number of planes on all sides. West Europe - Fictional "Cold War gone hot" conflict. The USA is an odd choice. Aside from training, you can make extremely fictitious missions. Nothing wrong with that; but I would rather have a set of terrian that lends itself to historical and/or plausible wars as those can feature extremely random coalitions as well.
green_sunfish_ Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 i voted Israel because of the mediterranean and dead sea… what better geography can you ask for? coast, hills, valley, and desert! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]best brawler fish in the world! setup: asus PB298Q monitor, alienware x51 i7, track iR5, CH products, & gunnar glasses!
OneFatBird Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Voted India/Pakistan, though hopefully believing Afghanistan included implicitly. SEA would be really cool in DCS if we had the aircraft used in the conflict. I add north-western South America, to open up a whole new ball game with the anti-narcotics trade operations, though we would need the Ayres NEDS Turbo-Thrush and Blackhawk for full flavour!
Wolfx Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I'd like to see Iran, Iraq, Balkans, Afghanistan or Korea as new theater of war. +1
rajdary Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 for Israel but a future Taiwán/China Scenario would be my favourite Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Tempered Glass, Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero, Intel i7 7700K @ 4.8, Corsair HX 1000i, Nzxt Kraken 62, 32gb DDR4 3000Mhz Corsair Dominator Platinum, Nvme SSD Samsung 960 Evo 1Tb, Asus Strix OC 1080ti, Philips 43" 4K Monitor + 2 x Dell 24" U2414H, Warthog HOTAS, Track IR 5, Obutto R3volution, Buttkicker Gamer 2, MFG Crosswind pedals, Occulus Rift CV1, Windows 10 Pro.
MBot Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 In my opinion, the Warsaw Pact-NATO confrontations are the most interesting scenarios for a combat flightsim. They offer challenging threats, a natural balances between the sides and a plausible historical background (even if an actual war didn't happen, the force deployments, training and war-plans were real). The Transcaucasian Front, the border area between Georgia, Armenia and Turkey is actually quite an interesting region. It is one of of only two direct borders between NATO and the Soviet Union. The current DCS map unfortunately stops right before the fun part starts. While it features many of the airbases of the VVS 34th Air Army in Georgia, the map doesn't extend significantly into Turkey. In fact the souther parts of Georgia are already only a bare skeleton terrain mesh without roads or towns. The basing areas of the Soviet 10th, 145th and 147th Motor-Rifle Divisions, located along the Georgian SSR-Turkish border, are already missing the required map details, let alone Turkish eastern Anatolia, which these divisions were destined to push into. I have always questioned the ED map design of the past 15 years for their persitent decision to model the strategic important Black Sea region of the USSR/Russia but leaving out the adjacent NATO country Turkey. An extension of the current map (the map extension to Batumi came with DCS Black Shark 5 years ago) 200 km to into the south-west to Erzurum would open up the theater for this exciting USSR-NATO scenario. Out of historical interest I have put together a Google Map with the major ground formations of the Transcaucasian Military District (Front in wartime), the Turkish 3rd Army assigned to defend Anatolia (assigned areas of sub formations incomplete) and the bases of all NATO, Turkish Air Force, VVS and PVO aviation combat units (including aircraft type in 1980s): https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zWPf8XHnI3xg.kXvaO-EiRflk
Jimbolya Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I like the track they are going down with the time periods and what not. A Nam era theater with all the historical stuff would be cool - especially with the expansion into multi-seat co-op - dual seater cobra on CAS or dual seater phatom from Yankee Air Station That would be pretty cool -

The region is interesting, and we really need a believable base of operations for NATO forces. Of course I like the idea of many other maps, but expanding the current map southwards would maybe be a 'lighter' and more easily achievable update. Someone might remember me as 'FlyingRussian' from the Ubisoft Lock-On forum back in '03
The_Pharoah Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 We definitely need a middle eastern map - the last few major 'wars' have been in this general area ie. Iraq especially or afghanistan. Jimbolya Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I'd like to see where the maps reflect a time period more than variety of maps... Example: if you do a vietnam map are you doing current day or the US conflict in 60-70's? Personally I'd rather see a move towards the old Jane's Fighters Anthology where you could fly in eras vs. just more maps / planes.

We have had very vague info on the Normandy map by RRG that there might be ways to switch between timelines of that map, such as pre-invasion and post-invasion... but it was very vague and might have been mis-understood, but that would be cool to be able to have a map of one area, and switch between eras. The_Pharoah Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Well DCS is primarily modern based so they should atleast stick to that rather than rambling all over the place with P51s and whatever. I'm loving the A10C but when has the A10C operated over Georgia? We've seen war in the middle east/Afghanistan involving the US, etc since 2003 - thats almost 11 years. THAT is where ED needs to focus their efforts when it comes to mapmaking. Jimbolya Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) I just remember the days of Jane's Fighters Anthology. I know that shows my age, but for what it was the platform itself was very innovative. Just never really made it into higher res grpahics or flight models. From a development standpoint the third parties are already on the way to making DCS World very capable of doing that imho. You simply limit objects. Multi-player could then post servers via time periods / date, and those getting into the server would know what equipment they would be facing. Edited February 19, 2014 by Jimbolya
SayHiToTheFBI Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Persian Gulf! Just like Fa-18 Hornet game back in the day made by Graphic Simulation Corp/Graphsim back in the late 90's. Enough of the greenery, I want the desert theater. No more Russians, I want to shoot down middle eastern pilots in their Mig 23's. New theater either Desert Storm or Operation Iraqi freedom style, replicate missions, DCS already has most of the jets modeled. I saw the Beta for A-10C had Nellis AFB created....where did that go?! Implement it!!!! Russia/Georgia is getting a bit boring now! This theater along with the release of the New Hornet Module that'll be next would be ideal for us flight simmer's! Make it happen for the late summer or Christmas!!!
Jimbolya Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Wow - where did you get the software from?? I'd love to play that sim again.
SayHiToTheFBI Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) No its not from Janes F-18, its made by Graphsim. MAC & PC Compatible. It's a great game. Find it on Amazon or somewhere. http://www.graphsim.com/games-fa18-oif.html Edited February 20, 2014 by SayHiToTheFBI
