Me, I'm a one man operation (for now), and it's a labor of love, and I would say curiosity, so even if I sell a single unit.. happy as a clam:D

Do the pinky switch realistically and I'm a buyer. (Not for a Warthog, but I'd love a very strong grip for my homemade stick. Did you say aluminum?)

Those of us that have printers would certainly like to make a copy :)

 

These take quite an effort to make. And I would like to use sale profits to buy/make even more tools, to make even more sim products.

Only if I get too busy with work, and won't be able to make them myself, I will release the cad files for public use.

 

Do a kickstarter. ;)

 

For sure. After I make some more options, and/or a working prototype.

Wow, sounds great. I just finished the stick mod for my Suncom HOTAS (for the F/A-18C). An easy mod for my Warthog would be better yet.

 

When this project is a go let me know.

What are you using for your four-way switches? I've found this, which looks pretty good:

I'm using similar ones from digikey. They're 150 gram force, like these, but now I found 500 gram force ones on element14 so thanks!!

 

Anyway always looking for quality switches and buttons that are not 'mil spec 50$ a piece'...

It's not an easy task to find quality switches that are not 50$ a piece ;)

 

I have some experience on that and I gave up and bought mil spec switches.

System:

I am figuring that one out real quick :)

 

But those are seald, water proof, dust proof, temperature proof and whatnot.

Can withstand 20 lbs. applied to the actuating hats etc...

 

That's 90% of features we really won't/can't use in a simulator. So it would be a shame for 90% of that price to go to waste.

 

Only thing we can use is the shape and the feel/actuating force. All of wich is specified in a catalog.

Trim hats 24 oz., pushbuttons 2.5 or 5 lbs and toggles/pushbuttons 2.5/4.5 lbs etc...

 

All of which I can replicate. Shapes according to drawings, and operating force with custom made springs.

You're going to have a difficult time printing that with an FDM printer. The parts are going to need a lot of support structure in order to print properly.

 

It's also going to take a long time - the Spitfire Mk V grip I printed took over 11 hours to finish and that was a single-piece grip. Beware of any overhangs that are over 40 degrees or so - that can be problematic for most FDM printers.

 

The model design looks fantastic though. Great job!

 

You might want to consider making one that will use an SFS box too. That way people that use stick extenders can have a more accurate grip system.
