Keep it like it is so I can turn it off when I choose.

And give us a position reference HUD of sorts where it is a dot in a circle for when we are hovering to help us stay in one spot.:joystick:

Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:!

true, this works great...although I keep crashing :megalol:

According the initial question.

Keep it. The user has to / can decide by its own whether to keep it or close it....it´s quite helpfull from time to time.

A question. The Flight model and physics are awesome. But I think it´s a bit too heavy. I already got confirmation of some real Life Pilots, that the flightmodel is great but too intense. In real life it is hard, but not that much hard to keep the control of the Chopper, especially while hovering and landing...is ED going to reduce the sensibility or adjust the flight model till retail release?

I'd chime in with a point of view that seems mostly shared.

- remove the weapons hint ; it is rather distracting, and not useful (as in, there are indicators in the cockpit for this)

- keep the autopilot hints (because of lack of in-cockpit indicators)

- renaming in "co-pilot" is not a bad idea either, as is inavailability when said co-pilot is dead (ie. turning the "cheat" into a more realistic option)

- maybe defaulting to off (or an option to choose the default setting)

I already caught my co-pilot sleeping (screenshot), so I guess it would be funny to hear him talk :D Useful as an indicator that "autopilot" is now on/off.

Could we not just have a small symbol in one corner only when autopilot is on? I don't think we really need info about weapon status at all as you can tell what you are firing by the position of the switches. I've turned it off as it gets in the way for me.

Ya I agree the only thing I see using it for was how much ammo u got left.

Voted yes of course. Why to remove something that is optional and can be switched off? Option to have it off by default would be enough.

Yes, the weapons display is not very useful so I wouldn't mind it being removed. Or even better, separate it from autopilot menu, so we can switch them on and off independently. EDIT: Oops, it seems that this one is already implemented. Sorry guys.

I like the idea of renaming it to "Co-pilot menu" and enabling it only when the other pilot is alive. I hope we will have better control of our crew in the final version, like commanding your pilot to hold hover, fly lower or higher etc, while you're in gunner's position.

I agree with what most are saying.

-while it's on, it should be more compact and out of the way

-should be off by default, or have obvious instructions on how to turn it off and on

*UH-1 is easily one of the best helo sims I've encountered. I can't commend you guys enough for the work done, and that you are so actively working to make it better.

Because I have it on the 2nd monitor I don`t care about how big it is. Sure can undertand that the size is to huge when on the main screen.

Voted for: keep it as an option that can be set on/off

It should be ON by default, for the beginners. Every experienced user can turn it off.

Make it part of the Interphone Comm system.

Just add a selection called Co-Pilot or something and add commands like "You have controls, straight and level", "You have controls, commence orbit", You have controls, maintain attitude" and "I have controls"

Make responses to each, when you say " I have controls" the co-pilot responds "You have controls" etc etc.

It makes the "autopilot" function of the module more immersive.

Just my 2 cents

I like this idea.

I still think having auto-copilot hotkeys for instant response is important (because you can't coordinate with the CP, so timing becomes important re: heading, altitude, orbit point), but also having the options on ICS, along with the vocal response for both ICS and hotkey would be awesome.

Then add the ICS option "Copilot status", which when prompted would reply "Holding steady on <heading>", "Maintaining <altitude> feet", or "Orbiting <point>". If Auto-copilot is off, the reply would be "You have the controls."

Hi Bushmanni,

The autopilot need not be the co-pilot. If you use the autopilot when you perform door gunner functions, the pilot will still fly the helo.

When the co-pilot dies, the autopilot feature should still be available, for the above reason.

Definitely keep it

Keep it as an option, in fact, add more to the autopilot features like autohover, ability to set heading, altitude, speed... (like autopilots in flight simulator x)and turn to target with the flexible sight would be awesome. Of course keep these as options so die hard pilots won't complain as making everything too easy.

Is it possible to allow it to be moved (screen position) by editing a LUA file? I have two monitors in a vertical configuration (for Helios) and this display is appearing on the bottom monitor - I'd like to be able to move it to the top.

As a reminder, this can be turned on/off in-game by pressing LCTRL+LSHIFT+H or in the OPTIONS > SPECIAL > UH-1H menu.

THANK YOU! I managed to turn it on somehow by accident and couldn't figure out what buttons I hit to do it so I could turn it off. I did finally see the options setting to turn it off after awhile, but I've still managed to turn it back on again before. Now I know what keys to avoid.

Now the only question is why did I keep hitting LCTRL+LSHIFT+H, what exactly was I trying to accomplish there?

As for whether to keep the option, I don't have any opinion either way. I don't see the harm in keeping it, despite a numbnut like me turning it on by accident.

having played a bit more, i think it would be nice if these hints could be altered in some way so that they don't take up so much space. A smaller font might be good.

Another thought was that maybe some kind of graphical icons could be used that would sit horizontally along the bottom of the screen, or similar, that could be used instead of text.

It feels kinda strange to me that there is a necessary to discus about 'all or nothing' and/or size/position about new introduced on-screen elements at all.

DCS allows you with very small and standardized file edits to turn virtually any item in a export that can be controlled via the monitorsetup.lua and give the customer full control about position and size. - and I really puzzled why new developers go the same route as ED and repeat same 'design-flaws' of the past on and on again.

If it is wished and /or not known by Blesimtek : Please give me until tomorrow and I load up a example how it's done with the two "Pilotsight" files.

AI vs Auto-Pilot

I like this idea.

I still think having auto-copilot hotkeys for instant response is important (because you can't coordinate with the CP, so timing becomes important re: heading, altitude, orbit point), but also having the options on ICS, along with the vocal response for both ICS and hotkey would be awesome.

 I like the idea. Would be fun to take gunner seats having the feeling the pilot/co-pilot will at least avoid any obstacle. Here are my thoughts:

1-Add AI pilot/co-pilot option in the special option tab

2-keep autopilot control in cheat section as is

3-remove "hint" display by default and add it as an option in the special option tab

4-if enable in option and activated, AI controls:

4.a- Pilot or co-pilot (the one still alive) is you take gunner seat

4.b- Co-pilot if you give him controls and he's alive

4.c- Pilot if you take co-pilot seat and the pilot is alive

5-Add AI control activation key

6-Provide instructions to pilot/co-pilot through ICS

7-As pilot commander, through ICS, you could command your gunners to start/stop firing.

Looks like my whish looks long and would more fit on the whish list thread, I'll do. :music_whistling:

Please leave it as is. It can be turned off so if someone doesn't like it they can turn it off. I however enjoy that it is there and it's helpful.

Rather late but I wish to cast my vote too :)

I wish in the options to have 2 switches not just one as now:

One for availability (like now) and one for default show state (show or not show)

Smaller size is good

Independent Copilot commands and weapons hints showing is also good

Ability to move it on the screen
