ron533 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 @Ron, I think we should let Mustang just do what he is good in. Finding those beautiful sky's with wonderful looking clouds regardless of size or other reasonable 'restrictions'. Many of us are just enjoying Mustangs' settings in any flight instead of being in multiplayer combat. The mods are optional, and you can always revert back if it's installed on your side. If it's needed, the server integrity checks should cover 'cheating issues'. If it's not then there is an issue. An option of 2 roads can be the solution then: Eye candy way, And eye candy with some compromise in favor of MP integrity (not bigger/smaller clouds). I guess it's up to Mustang to chose either road, or both. Cheers... Callsign SETUP
ENO Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Ron. It's easy: don't use it. It's a client side mod. If a person feels they lose a competitive edge then they don't load it. Easy. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
ron533 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Ron. It's easy: don't use it. It's a client side mod. If a person feels they lose a competitive edge then they don't load it. Easy. Always the easy way... Thank you for clarifying I can "not use it". But I do want to use it and "enjoy both worlds" because I like Mustang's work, up until now when the clouds got bigger... Now I will not use it unfortunately, because of the limitations mentioned previously. It's easy not to use it anymore and say nothing about it. But that's why there is this forum, ENO and the rest, so people could also give THEIR feedback (which I believe all mod makers here appreciate and need, it's for the community after all...), and this is MY feedback. It's up to Mustang to listen and decide what to do, it's his work after all. I also appreciate your views about it, but since I also do use this sim as a combat simulator besides the sight seeing capabilities it has, I believe this new approach to the mod has a downside, which was already mentioned. Maybe it was an eye opener, and maybe Mustang has already thought about it and decided he wants it only this way. Anyway that was some food for thought. You can digest now... :smilewink: Callsign SETUP
Shahdoh Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Here is a thought, continue to enjoy Mustangs great mod version prior to him making the clouds bigger? Or did I miss out on something else substantial besides the bigger clouds?
ron533 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Here is a thought, continue to enjoy Mustangs great mod version prior to him making the clouds bigger? Or did I miss out on something else substantial besides the bigger clouds? Sure. I currently have version 5.17 There's no older version list to find if you missed them when they were out (5.18, 5.19...). And it will be a pity to miss all the future improvements later on. Skulleader Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Hello guys, I've read your last messages and yes it's not easy to found the good way, Ron you have right because if you fly PVP it's maybe one problem, but if you fly all alone in it's my case this Mod and the resize of the clouds it's perfect. I play with one other video game (not simulation but one MMORPG) and all my settings are full when I play all alone but when I play PVP my graphics settings are not good for me because I meet many problems with the fog, and other graphics effects and many times I loose. So I have two solutions for this game, when I play PVP I modified my settings for have no graphics effects and when I play alone I boost all my settings and the game it's perfect and beautiful. Maybe that you can do it with DCS, when you fly all alone use the last Mod of Mustand and when you play PVP use one old Mod od Mustang. But one thing that I'm sure that's Mustang he's a real artist, his Mod is awesome and for me it's impossible to use DCS without his Mod. And you have right when you say that one forum is the better place for say why one Mod is good and why one Mod is not good or have one problem. We are all gentlemen and we must stay calm, in this case we can give all our ideas, feedback and other things but in the calm situation. The only thing that I can say, Mustang I'm a great fan of your work, without you and all the other members of DCS's forum who created all these awesome Mods our DCS will be a little not also beautiful and real. The goal of all these Mods it's obtain the best simulation and the best flight simulator, by the past I've never using the clouds, weather and HDR but since I tested the Mod of Mustang impossible to use my DCS without clouds and weather. It's the proof that the work of our friend Mustang is necessary, and for me it's one obligation to use his Mod. It's not easy to found the good way but I respect the work of Mustang because he a real artist. thanks again Mustang for your incredible and great Mod, each time I wait with impatient the new version of your Mod. Thanks again, Skull. upupandaway Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) Updated from 5.16 last night - your mod really rocks! I personally like the bigger clouds quite a bit. The whole representation of atmospheric conditions looks very cool, especially with dynamic weather. Clipping is quite prominent in some cases though. The only thing i noticed was a seemingly shorter overall visibility (haze thickness). Is it it just an impression generated by the adjusted settings? kobac Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 @T.Jacob Your effect has potential, but should not be seen on any occasion. In my opinion, only when viewed from the first person. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...

Mustang Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 v5.22 updated with a fix for cloud colour and fog - if a mission had fog as well as cloud in a mission (such as in Op Bison in 104th server) nearest cloud would change to same colour as ground fog and looked strange, removed FogApply command in cldDraw.fx seems to fix this (so far i see no bad side effects but worth keeping an eye on)

Mustang Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Has anyone tried dynamic weather with the latest version? it seems i get a significant FPS boost when there is total cloud cover and rain, before it was quite laggy - i have a feeling that disabling the 'fogapply' in cldDraw.fx might be the cause, i'm happy though! Note the FPS differences, not only is it higher but it is significanly less 'input laggy' and much more responsive. Edited June 16, 2014 by Mustang
