Cripple Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 So, don't get hung up on it or imagine that extremes of performance will save sorry backside when you've got yourself in too deep. Worry more about not putting your neck in a noose in the first place. Too right! Well said, Klem... No more info on the mk IX in it, but the image is surely encouraging... Friedrich-4B Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Here's another encouraging image; in this case Brendan Deere's restored IX, in the 1943 vintage colours and markings of Wingco Alan "Al" Deere. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]************************************* Fortunately, Mk IX is slightly stable, anyway, the required stick travel is not high... but nothing extraordinary. Very pleasant to fly, very controllable, predictable and steady. We never refuse to correct something that was found outside ED if it is really proven...But we never will follow some "experts" who think that only they are the greatest aerodynamic guru with a secret knowledge. :smartass: WWII AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE

Redglyph Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Today is the spitfires 80th birthday. It was today that the first prototype took to the skies in public. Celebration is in order! That is, if you ignore the first "spiritual" ancestor's prototype, the Type 224, which took off in February 1934 ;) I'm glad they improved it. Blaze Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 They could be temporary sounds too for all we know. It's still very much WIP from what's shown there. NeilWillis Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 There sounds to me to be too much treble, and it sounds "rattly". I'm not getting the full deep-throated roar. But as you say, it is a WIP no doubt, and of course filtered through our individual sound systems, so I can hardly expect to hear what everyone else does.
klem Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 There sounds to me to be too much treble, and it sounds "rattly". I'm not getting the full deep-throated roar. But as you say, it is a WIP no doubt, and of course filtered through our individual sound systems, so I can hardly expect to hear what everyone else does. That's strange. To me the bass sounds a little too rich and mellow - just a bit - and it lacks a slight mixed-in 'organ' tone in the fly past. Also the sharp rolling exhaust reports are missing as it egresses. Actually it reminds me of a heavier engine - the Griffon perhaps?? I guess it depends on what we listen with. klem 56 RAF 'Firebirds' ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F mobo, i7 8086A @ 5.0 GHz with Corsair H115i watercooling, Gigabyte 2080Ti GAMING OC 11Gb GPU , 32Gb DDR4 RAM, 500Gb and 256Gb SSD SATA III 6Gb/s + 2TB , Pimax 8k Plus VR, TM Warthog Throttle, TM F18 Grip on Virpil WarBRD base, Windows 10 Home 64bit
