hello guys, hello devs, hello yo-yo!

ok, i have to say, that the DCS P51 is by far the best simulated WWII warbird i have ever flown.all those details in it, the beautiful pit, the flight characteristics.its really a joy...in fact its that good, that i exchanged ~14 warbirds and a WWII channel map from a sim we dont want to name, to one warbird in an "old" but modern environment.and im happy i did.no way i would go back again...

so, the stang is almost perfect in my view,....almost

there are a few things i would like to see improved though.

-the performance:

i find it quite surprising, that on my weak pc, i have a good ~10 fps more in the A10c with both mfcds running, than in the stang.

unfortunately, the tracers still cause a pretty big performance decrease as well.

when looking at your own tracers from inside the cockpit, the frames do go down, but not as much that its an apparent problem...but while inside the cockpit, and looking at other P51s fighting each other, the tracers then really bring at least my pc almost to a halt.(i think this will become really important to fix, before DCS WWII is going to be released)

-the damage model:

ok, after several months, i took a ride in the A10c again...i was again surprised, how much more detailed this model seems to be when its about damage, than our beloved pony is.making crashlandings, this becomes apparent.

unfortunately, doing crashlandings in our stang, the result is mostly just a big fireball once it tilts into the ground or flips to one side....also the fuel shut off valve doesnt seem to avoid this at all!i would really like to see that such emergency procedures have an effect on the outcome.in the A10c, such crashlandings, and the overall damage model seems way more advanced and realistic.

are there plans, that our P51 will get some improvements such like the ones mentioned above in the future?

cheers!

+1!

Same here, and i tried quite some...Only word i had first time: "WOW!"

Yes, again same here. And i think mine isn't particulary weak PC...

I even can say P51 module is the worst of all the 5 i own in terms of FPS (but fortunately still very playable).

It's also the only front propeller plane...couldn't it comes from the prop animation?

(flying low on forest and looking straight i have 28 FPS - same in A10C i have at least 38 FPS - OK i could get more if decreasing eye candy, but it's only to tell the difference)

Fuel shut off + boost pump off seems to work here, as i belly landed few times without ending in fire ball...in fact was quite pleased of the belly landing effect and damage model.

But you're right, there is still room for improvment.

I personaly don't like the wing edge flammes as soon as it touch down (but A10C is same).

yeah, regarding the explosions on crashlandings...i forgot to add, that i quite often manage to belly or crashland without blowing up in a fireball,....but when flipping over, it seems that fuel shut off valve doesnt have any impact on the outcome...to me it seems, that the only thing that counts is the speed you are at, when flipping over...

I hope ED will give back force fedback stall buffet. Cause since these bug i don't play P-51 anymore.

Yes DCS P-51 is the best modeled prop plane in sims still as a real life pilot i think that in our game it could be harder to fly then in real life. Just taking all real life data into game not always mean realistic.

Yes, it is, but the blame is on our hardware, not the sim.

i just received my MFG Crosswind pedals and took the pony for a first test flight.

well, i didnt even adjust my pedals yet, and have only tried one cam profile so far, but i am amazed now, with the top notch hardware, how easy it suddenly is to keep control on the edge of the flight envelope.

before i had to use a curvature setting of 20 with my ch pro pedals...

now i didnt set any curvature settings whatsoever on the pedals and had this 5min test flight, to see whether i will need curvature settings.i am quite happy, that i wont need them at all anymore.

just waoh!

I want the super charger to switch to high blower at ~13k ASL as stated in the manual.

Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

The switching altitude is not fixed. It depends on other factors.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

The MFG Pedals shouldnt need a Curve.

The precision is there due to the high resolution Hall Sensor,

but with the pedals being further apart, it's easier to control the sensitivity of the rudder,

With the pedals spaced further Apart, 2 inches of Foot Movement = like 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch on the CH Pedals.

So the sensitivity and range of motion is better. They also feel a lil bit more natural being spaced further apart.

Having been looking for some good, precise, wide-set pedals for over a decade, I'm very pleased to hear about this MFG Crosswind. Ever since Simped went out of business, there hasn't been a reasonable option for those of us who want good fighter-spaced pedals. Looks like there is now. : )

I read the "About" section on his site and, well, no wonder! I've been saying for ages now that the only way we're ever going to get decent simming pedals is when someone who knows real aircraft*, flight sims, and machining decides to make some. About time!

*Stick & rudder birds, specifically.

Was there ever an official response to the OP on this topic? I've been curious as well. I know Santa's workshop is very busy right now :) but it would be nice to hear that some of the small "improvements" for the Mustang will be addressed down the road. As minor as it may seem, some things like exhaust stack smoke, damage model refinement and windscreen oil leak effects would greatly add to the immersion.

There has been dev comments on a number of those things if you can dig them up... but I am pretty sure some of them are on the radar, who knows what kinda timeline we are talking though, and perhaps some of the refinements will be pushed by RRG when it comes to the WWII birds...

our beloved Pony-will it get even better?

Sounds good, Sith. Just curious.

Is there currently a thread dedicated to P-51D bugs/issues to keep a running list? I imagine it would be very handy and helpful in the long run.

EDIT: I know there is a whole section for this but is there a one-stop list of items. Like a wishlist of improvements?

Well there is the Bugs and Problems for the P-51 forums

http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=173

But I have been thinking as of late that maybe a thread per aircraft for the top bugs and fixes needed might be interesting to have... might be easier to track as well easier to see if something has been reported already...

I know of a couple of things that are being worked on for the P-51D I am not sure how many are public knowledge so please forgive me for not being specific.

But rest assured Merlin there are refinements coming for the Pony :)

We have added "out of oil" condition, and are working on the cold start improvements. As we are moving to DX11 new effects will be added.
