I've done a bit of research. These are the sensors of the S-31EZh "Zhelazny" system (Russian: С-31ЭЖ), the pilot's head tracking system. How it works: This system was part of the ZSh-5 – the world's first integrated helmet-mounted sighting system (HMS), introduced in the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the late 1970s/early 1980s. These "windows" are infrared photodetectors that observe reflections from small, point-shaped IR emitters (diodes) located in the pilot's helmet. This allows the aircraft's targeting computer to know the pilot's direction of view and can direct the OLS-29 sensor (optoelectronic infrared sighting system) or weapons (e.g., R-73 missiles with a wide-angle head) to where the pilot's eyes are looking. The "pulsation" that is visible to the naked eye (sometimes a slight flicker is visible) is the result of these infrared emitters/receivers working - the system is constantly checking the head position. So - old Track IR !

Can't trim for level flight at higher speeds/throttle

Check the position of the Longitudinal Cyclic Trim indicator on the INST page for the rotors. Once it's maxed out, the flight control system has no more authority in that direction. You can read more about the LCTs here: -
They're already spinning in the KA-50 when the HMD is in use, but nobody complained so far, so...

You can also change the trim value in the .lua/cfg file from 1 and -1 to let’s say 0.5 and -0.5….I‘ve changed it to 0.4 and respectively -0.4. Downside of this method is, that you need to change it after every update. And another hint, once you’ve changed it, you have to reassign the trim buttons again to your personal Stick.

I would like to extend the cockpit camera movement (x/y/z position) limits a little bit to allow saving better snap view position presets. I know it has been mentioned in DCS forum before but cannot find it anymore. Afaik the x/y/z camera postion limits were set in a .lua file but I don't recall where anymore. May be someone can help push my nose on it. Thanks.

The endurance as shown on the HSD and VSD is currently calculated as h.0 hours instead of h.mm hours and minutes. I'm pretty sure it used to be calculated correctly in a previous version, but am not sure when this was broken. Currently seeing the issue in 2.9.19.13478 In the attached screenshots, the endurance is given as either 1.0 or 2.0 hours depending on the current fuel flow, with no in-between values. The issue seem reminiscent of the odd ETE calculation as reported here. KW_Endurance.trk

Hello, @gorandcs. The vanilla MICA-RF missile does not have sufficient energy to launch from a vertical position. If you want a short-range SAMP/T, you can simply activate the disabled TEL Aster-15. To do this, open the entry.lua file in the mod's root folder and delete the double dash on line 146 so that it looks like this: dofile(current_mod_path..'/Database/Vehicles/SAMPT_MLT_Blk2.lua')

I'm fine using trim in every other DCS 'copter I have - Huey, AH-64D and MI-8 but I cannot seem to trim the Chinook for level flight above 140 knots or so or around >50% throttle. When I'm less than 140, I use the CD REL around the attitude I want and then adjust with trim hat, everything's great. Above 140, I do the same and the aircraft pitches hard in the direction I am trimming - if I'm trimming down, it does a nose dive; trimming up it goes nose high. It will stay in trim at a climb rate of ~1k, this gets worse the more power is added. If I just use my joystick, I can find a position at that speed where I am level with out many micro adjustments, but as soon as I hit CD REL, it pitches. I've about tried everything at this point: instant vs center trim, holding and releasing vs pressing trim when in position, various combination of trim hat and CD REL etc. EA bug or am I not understanding something about the 'copter/flight computer? Thanks for any assistance

It would be a good idea to be able to turn off this animation. I'm afraid it might give you a headache in VR . Shimmering manifests itself as a flickering effect that's always visible out of the corner of your eye, and it's not a pleasant experience. Of course, we'll see it once the model arrives, and then we can judge.
