  1. Hello sirs :) I present you my last realization which is entitled "Flying with the World" I wanted to gather squadrons of the VFAT to try to show the another aspect of the VFAT. I hope that this video is going to please you and I wish you a good weekend :smilewink: Link Viméo : http://www.vimeo.com/10627737 Link MegaUpload : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=46OLYN5S "He can say to you that the file is not available no problem it is necessary to insist in moment Megaupload in concern but it is necessary to insist just a little " Goodbye on FC 2.0 ;)

  2. GG, I'm not nearly as passionate about this others. I'm all for people using mods. Mods make the game grow. Bringing more realism to the game is a good thing. Datalink has bene a staple of the US Military for a very long time. I lived in the middle of it when I was in. NTDS, JOTS, ets Having it limited to only AWACS-equipped missions for the US planes is a serious deficiency. In sensor situational awareness, the Russian aircraft have a far greater advantage. LEAVU cna balance this out for the US fighters. My concerns with LEAVU are simple: 1) Gameplay balance especially when it comes to new players who have no clue about LEAVU. I'm not too concerned with experienced players who make a choice not to run a mod. Keeping new players in mind will only help the community grow. I've talked three people into getting LockOn FC2 who had never heard of it before. Need to work with them and cultivate their skills rather than slam their pp in the ground as soon as they get to altitude lol! Disallowing a certain mods server side to keep the playing field level is a good solution for this. The new players can experiment with mods as they learn about them. 2) The potential security holes in this mod. I'm not in the constant debate and haven't kept up with LEAVU for a while, so I haven't a clue as to whether some of these potential holes have been closed off. I'd hate to see all of Yoda's hard work become the foundation for a game ruining cheat if it fell into the hands of a programmer who just wanted to be an asshat. My idea is for ED to take a very good look at LEAVU and implement the parts of it they feel add to the realism of the game, but can keep things in balance. That way, everyone will be on the same page :)

  3. Hello, Yeah I'm fine. I almost finished the Mig-21 V2.0 before my computer crashed. Fortunately I able to restore all of my data. First of all I have to buy a new PC and FC2 than I'll able to start to redesign the Mig-21 for FC2. I can't promise anything, but in my opinion I finished the conversation not later than June. All the best, beczl

  4. Here is one very simple example of why LEAVU is so wrong: 2x F-15C aircraft in fight with 1 (or 2 or more) aircraft... they attack one by one by extending and watching on their MFD what the other guy sees as at any point in time one of their radars is looking at bandints... it means I can have my 6 on the bandit and still see his heading, altitude, distance (and maybe more depending what LEAVU is programmed to share)... this is utterly wrong and against the spirit of fareplay as FC2 does not allow this... can I be any more clear on this? And to this individual talking about being scared of the change... I have to say you have no clue and your post is just useless because you see FC2 has brought change from FC1 and according to you we are now all scared about it and as far as I know we are all supporting these changes so just either post something correct and useful or refrain from posting We have proven that ECM ranging is completely off how it works in LUA script and how it works in reality and fact that people still want to call it more realistic is nothing but personal opinion (not objective or factual). If people want to have extra things they can do so since the game is very open to modding and changing many things but please no need to convince me or many others that what they are doing is alright. You are entitled to your own game and have it the way you want... you can use LEAVU and have datalink on the F-15C in FC2 but do not call it fair play because it isn't. If FC2 had such feature I don't care because we would then have a fair play as everyone would have it. Bottom line is even though we were told how many of the features of LRM and LEAVU are realistic it has been proven they are not (not all, but at least some). This shows that statements like this "it is realistic" are not to be taken for granted and trusted but questioned and if possible either proven wrong or true. So please Yoda, GG and supporters of LEAVU and LUA scripting do not state that you are right or know better all the time as clearly you don't... fact is these affect OTHERS and if you don't care for affecting others don't go defensive when people get personal and call it irresponsible etc. Yoda saying "I made this program because I wanted this and that does not make me responsible what other may use it for" is exactly that... irresponsible... because he doesn't care how it affects others, only cares what he wants to have... but then again this is fine because we do have integrity check available so LETS USE IT!

  6. Hey Guys, I just manage to add our Squadron as a new country with some squads in it, is there anyone interested in this at all? I don´t want to go through all the process to do it to find out that no one it´s interested it! :D You just need Photoshop or similar + Windows Notepad! You will see some spanish words, since we are an Argentinean Squad! For some planes you can add extra skins, for some you have to overwrite old ones. Still need to work the rankings and awards/medals, but it`s working ok so far! ******************************************************************* First off all, a couple of things that will make the ride smoother! :D English it´s not my native language, so don´t be afraid to correct me or question anything that you don´t understand! We are going to need Photoshop or similar to edit textures, CDDS Explorer (it came with Modman 7.2.0.0), and Windows Notepad or similar that allow us to edit .lua files. Keep in mind that even though I use Windows Notepad, I already saw some post complaining about this program corrupting .lua files. The process involve a lot of editing and trying, so make absolutely sure that you back up all the files that we are going to edit or replace!!!!!! I backed up the entire FC2 folder before I started messing around, just in case. Trying to make the process as painless as possible, after every change we are going to test it inside the sim. It will save us a lot of time at the end. Let´s start. 01 - Adding your Squadron as a new country Most, if not all the information regarding countries inside FC2 are held inside Scripts/Database/db_countries.lua The easiest way to do it it´s to copy an existent country, and then edit the basic options. Open db_countries.lua with notepad so we can edit it, and in this case we are going to use Russia since it have most of the planes that we are going to need. So look for Russia (it´s the first country in the list), and you need to copy all these code. After you copy it, you need to paste at the bottom of the file, making 100% sure that you respect the original layout meaning that you have to leave an empty line between the last ); and where you place the entire code that you just copy. It´s A LOT of text, but after you understand it it´s quite simple. 1 - CLSID for your country, this one have to be unique in order to work, so go ahead and edit a couple of numbers and letters on the text that you just copy at the end of the file. I didn´t replace the entire thing, just some numbers and letters in order to make it different for the Russian CLSID! 2- Full name of the country, edited so it will show your Squad name. 3- Again, the Full name of your Squad. 4- Short version of your Squad name, it will be use at debriefs. 5- Name of your Squad flag, will see more of this in the next step, but for now just edit like "yoursquadname.png". 6- Number of the country, if you check the country above of the one that we just add it you will find that they are the "Insurgents" and they are number 17, so go ahead and edit the one that you copy and put it as the 18. And that´s it for step 01. If we make everything ok, once you enter the Editor you will find your Squad as a country, but with a Russian Flag (or not flag at all), planes and everything else. Don´t worry about that for now, just make sure that FC2 works ok and that you see your Squad name both in the country list on the editor and on the Logbook. Something that I did and that might be useful at the end, it´s to make a separte MOD Folder. After you finish with the mod, you will need to give it to all your Squad members in order to install it. So what I did to make it simpler it´s to create a separate folder to "replicate" FC2 folder structure, and in there I copy the files that I was editing. So for this first change that I made, I create a separate folder in my back up disk name Scripts, and inside this one I create another one named Database. Finally inside this one, I copy the db_countries.lua that we just edit. Of course I made all this after I make sure that all the changes were working ok! So for now on, all the files that we edit or add will be copy to this new folder in another disk, always respecting the folder structure that they use in FC2. It´s sounds like a pain in the ass I know, but in this way after we finish with all the modifications making the mod with Modman will be a piece of cake! 02 - Adding your Squadron Flag to the Editor So, you have the Squads name on the editor, but it´s showing the wrong flag? Go to BlackShark/data/images/Flags and open any of the .png files with Photoshop or similar. Edit it adding your Squad logo or name, respecting the size of the original file that you opened. Save it using the exact same name that you specified the step before at point 5, and try it inside FC2. If the flag it´s showing ok, copy the file and dir structure to our MOD Folder. The flags for the Editor are really really small, so it can be a little tricky for them to show it ok, especially if you are trying to add a logo or something more complex than a flag. In my case I just add the name of my Squad (ECV56). 03 - Adding your Squadron Flag to the Logbook Go to BlackShark/data/images/Countries and open flags-1.png in Photohsop. As you will see, these are the flags that FC2 use at the Logbook and for the Status Bar inside the game when you use external views and it have all the flags in the same file. So go ahead and add your Squad logo to the one at the end, so it will look like this: If you are an impatient man you will be trying the sim now, juts to realize that it´s still showing the Russian Flag :P:D. That´s because we need to edit one more thing befor it actually works. Open Scripts/Database/db_countries.lua and goes to the end of the file. You will see this code {0,0,64,30}. Change for this one {0,480,64,30}. Basically what we are doing, it´s changing the "coordinates" where the Sim will look to show the flag. Before trying it inisde the game, you need to edit one more file, the one that it will show on the left low corner with any of the external views. Open any of the PNG files inside FUI/Common/Flags and after edited in Photoshop, save it in the same folder but with your squad name, the same that you specified at db_countries.lua Thanks to =BR= CEROL for making realize about this mistake! Go ahead and try it inside the game, you should be able to see your flag in the logbook and at the low left corner while using external views inside the sim. If everything went as advertise, copy the files that we modified to your MOD Folder, and don´t forget to overwrite the db_countries.lua file! 04 - Adding your Squadrons Patches to the Logbook In our case, inside our main Squad (ECV56) we have one wing for each plane that we fly in FC. So it was a good thing for us that FC have this feature. Open Scripts/Database/Troops/LOP/Russia.lua with the notepad. Without doing anything, save it as yoursquadronname.lua in the same folder. Now open this file that you just save, if you are familiar with lua files it will be pretty obvious what we have to do. 1- Full name of your Wing. 2- Again, full name of your wing or sub squad. 3- Name of your wings patch. You can have as many wings/sub squad as you want. Now, go to BlackShark/data/images/Countries and inside there create a new folder with your Squads name, using the exact same that you use for the Step 01, point 02. Now create another folder inside your squads, named Troops and another one name LOP At the end you will have something like this: BlackShark/data/images/Countries/YourSquadName/Troops/LOP Since we are here, also create a folder name Awards inside your Squads name folder. We will use it later. So, we continue with your Wings patches. Open any of the XXXCountry/Troops/LOP .png files in Photoshop, so you can use them as a guide for size. Add your wing patch or logo, and save it inside BlackShark/data/images/Countries/YourSquadName/Troops/LOP, making sure to use the exact same name that you used at the point 03 just a couple of lines above. Now, we need to open Scripts/Database/db_countries.lua again, and edit the last line in our country. Change the Russia.lua for yoursquadname.lua, making sure to use the exact same name that we use at the start of this step. Save everything, and try it inside the Sim. 05 - Adding your Squadrons Ranks, Stripes and Awards to the Logbook If you understand what we are doing so far, the rest it´s pretty simple since we are using the same technique in order to do it. Open Scripts/Database/db_countries.lua and go to the end of the file. For Ranking 1- Full name of your rank, starting at the lowest. 2-Again, full name of your rank. 3- Amount of points/missions? that you have to complete in order to advance. I´m going to be 100% honest here, I didn´t investigate this in full depth, so I´m not 100% sure that the number represents points or missions, I´m just using common sense! 4- Coordinates for the .png file, don´t touch it. Now open BlackShark/data/images/Countries/AnyCountry/Stripes.png. You can edit it or use the same, just make sure that after you are done you save it inside your squads foler, with the same name. BlackShark/data/images/Countries/YourSquadsName/Stripes.png For awards, let's go back to our Scripts/Database/db_countries.lua file. 5- Full award name. 6- Full award name. 7- Again, I´m not 100% sure that this are points, missions or what. But for sure, they indicate a level that you need to reach to get the award. In my case, I leave them untouched. 8- Awards .png file As we did it before, we go to BlackShark/data/images/Countries/AnyCountry/Awards folder and open any of the .png files to use as a guide for size. We need to save one for each award that we have, and we need to do it inside BlackShark/data/images/Countries/YourSquadsName/Awards using the exact same names that we specified insides Scripts/Database/db_countries.lua. If you remember, we created this folder just a couple of steps above. And that´s pretty much it. Now we have our Squad as a Nation. ******************************************************************* This it´s what I wrote so far. I still need to explain how to add your own Skins and Skins names, hopefully I will finish it sometime during today. But you have something to start with already! Any questions please, don´t hesitate to ask!

  8. Hello, I have worked on a very heavy project on FC for 1 year and a half. the HD PITS mod wich is already available. I would like to work now on BS with the same standart of quality. If someone from ED team could help me, i would save a lot of time. I need the templates for BS pits so i wouldn't have to spend hours to find wich part of the bmp or tga files BS uses to map the game. Thanks a lot.

  10. LOFC2 seems to behave better if you leave the keys to their defaults. I have created a CH profile that uses all the default keys programmed into the CH devices. No need to make any adjustments in game. Download Here Here is the readme... Profile made for CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals Features: - Uses all default key settings of LOFC - Pinky button on CH Throttle used as a shift function to double the amount of buttons available - Air brake will close if open when afterburner engaged - CH Throttle mini stick in mouse mode used as Target Designator Cursor - Repeating key for radar slew for vertical and horizontal and repeating key for RF expected range to target (hold hat button down to repeat) - Macros to release multiple chaff and/or flare with timed spacing - Wheel brakes assigned to rudder toe brakes with deadzone. Press pedals all the way to engage - Laser cooldown override button - PDF and Excel file of controller layout In Lock On FC2 do the following: - Assign correct throttle, joystick and rudder axis - Assign TDC horizontal and vertical to mouse axis0 and axis1 Additional Notes: In CH Manager program ensure "Mapped Mode" is active. You can have your CH devices start in mapped mode every time you start Windows if you make a shortcut to "CMstart" in your Startup folder in your Start menu. The CMstart program can be found in your CH Manager folder. TrackIR Center and TrackIR Pause are set on the joystick hat to send joystick button presses. Go into the TrackIR software with the CH profile loaded in memory and assign the TrackIR Center and TrackIR Pause functions (press the joystick button when asked) in the TrackIR software to match. The Teamspeak Push To Talk button on the joystick is set to use the "Scroll Lock" key of the keyboard. Set up your Teamspeak up to match. "Gain and Response Setting" for joystick axis' and mini stick axis' are custom set in the CH Control Manager. Leave the response curves in Lock On flat. If you need any help, just send me a PM or ask me on our TS!

  11. I had big hopes for FC 2.0 regarding the ECM pain. How can 15 secs startup time do any good. Except for incoming missile. Many people seems to be using ECM more or less all the time. So 15 secs start up is .....?!? Why don't give all a missile with 25 Km range and skip ECM? Or give us AWACS declare. Falcon where are you? If this is the patch taken by ED I will not by another simulator again. However ED is up to something good here with B.S. FC2 and A10C etc... -> can be Outstanding! This is my opinion.

  13. The sim actually does that itself. It really doesn't matter if you're a 24/7 virtual pilot strung out on Mountain Dew or a more casual one...you'll eventually have to learn the mechanics of the aircraft. I'm not even sure why this topic was made here to be honest. The official forum is hardly the place for a temper tantrum about new pilots (a place full of them as well as potential ones). That's better left at your own wing/squadron forum. Anyway, just find yourself a virtual wing/squadron that fits you dude. There are more than enough of them out there (most of which that I personally know of don't mind helping new pilots along).

  14. This topic serves the opposite purpose. To tell that reading manual and going through basic training is NOT an elite thing. PedroTheGoat is right. The quality of this sim itself eliminates some of the bunch who jump in MP and don't even know what collective is. No one prohibits them playing BS or even go online. It's just that only a saint will take such individuals under his wings because only a saint will have the patience. Besides, it's annoying to watch that someone move in circles solely due to his laziness. To conclude: - if you are not minimally self-reliant and willing to learn, you don't bother others - there's a big difference between using someone's help and exploiting someone's good will to help

  15. Producer notes were the BEST. For me they got me through the manual startup (shortcut key if you want to skip all that) and a number of other things. I have a laptop and set it up next to my desktop and watched the video's on youtube paused and copied the movements to get the motor skills down. Once you've got that in the bag you can learn more about what exactly you're doing or just keep it a memorize startup. It was the easiest way for me to observe and repeat. It is quite challenging so don't expect to master it over night :)...but that's all part of the fun.

  20. Player A has 50" monitor Player B has 15" monitor Are both players on equal ground? That is the entire purpose of making such a server browser Of course not. It is about where you draw the lines. For me that monitor has bigger gameplay impact than my mod, others may disagree. Player C has touch buddy with RWR Player D has force controlled joystick Player D has built a full workig cockpit. Player E has Crazy macine with 6 monitor setup and $10000 performance Player F has US rwr screen while flying Su-27 on LOVP Player G has automatic missile dodge script :) Player H has radar elevation through ERI radar <-- MUST BAN!!! What I'm really looking for is perspective

  23. Heh kuky you sound like a 5yr old. "I can have no candy so no talking to you". Go be the ultimate fighter pilot hero, tough guy. Btw yoda on a constructive notice. I noticed that when you break lock from a jammer the scale goes to 160nm and that the elevation will sometimes go all the way up... Big in LEAVU or fc2?
    1 point
  24. You haven't really proven anything Kuky. I've asked you and others several times in this thread and elsewhere(yep you can go back and check the posts now if you don't believe me) how things could been made better. I don't really see the problem, if real eccm ranging is giving you 20 km error at the start and then +- 5 km after 50 seconds, and eri radar gives you 15-30 km error variations all the time(and FAR more at long ranges), then I cannot really see what is the issue with it. Let's take the example of a target at 80 nm. What does my radar do? Well it basically has 60 nm error , maybe more, virtually impossible to range the target. perhaps at 40-50 nm out you start to see reasonable results. From what I remember from the documents those errors start at about 20 km and then decrease over time, while my radar will always give you quite a bit more than 20 km error, non-decreasing. Then there is the third point. What makes you think that the burnthrough is a completely discrete change? There is probably a lot more information out there than just pure bearing, so that will probably also make the ranging better the closer you get. Couple this with passive ranging and you get a very good estimate, likely better the closer to target you get. Not at all, but I think it is ridiculous that this is being aimed at something that has been out there for so long now by so many different developers, lovp, touch buddy etc, then some more for black shark. You might not have been doing it personally Grimes, I cannot say I've seen any such posts or vent-craziness by you, but those responsible know who they are. Your comment does not at all reflect the kind of feedback we've been getting. It would be so much simpler with a straight forward constructive critical posts than what has been said here and in other forums. I would if I could copy in what has been said from elsewhere, but that would be breaking the rules of this forum quite a few times.

Also there are quite some server out there whit people in it happy to help you. I myself learned flying the ka50 from scratch on a private server i happen to come across. I sucked at the mission the guy was hosting but we had a few good chats and i learned lots there. Last but not least, i could advice you to come and take a look at the 159th Guards Aviation Regiment We fly the SU33, SU25T and ofcourse the KA-50 ***EDIT*** In my opinion anyone should be able to join a server and get some help. Even if he didn't read a darn letter in the manual yet. (maybe he doesn't know where to find it for example?)

  27. I'm bringing this thread back to life because it really scared me. I AM a console gamer who finally has the scraps to buy a gaming PC in order to play my favorite genre: Realistic flight sims. It's been so long since I have been able to play a good flight sim due to the fact that console is about all I could afford. The last REAL flight sims I played were SU-27 Flanker (The FIRST one), US Navy Fighters, and Janes Longbow. I am NOT a lazy console gamer though... I have read all 500 + pages of the .pdf manual... Cover to cover... I also have watched all 10 producers notes NUMEROUS times... I really do feel like I could start that bird manually the first time I play the game. What scares me is... What about my first few online experiences? If I'm not "up to snuff" because I am brand new am I going to get kicked over and over again? Are there any active servers or squads out there that would take a newbie in? Call me a weiner... But it would make me a sad Goat if I was trying my hardest and just got kicked because I am not doing mad funnel maneuvers and might be struggling a bit with the Datalink or something. (By the way... My computer is in the mail... That's why I haven't started up my own beautiful Blackshark up yet)

  28. Hi dok, you don't have to merge FC2 with BS. FC2 is a stand alone add-on to LOMAC. There will be a patch coming out soon which will make it possible to fly BS and FC2 in MP. Your old LOMAC disk is all you need to install FC2. Install it first no need to patch to 1.02 either then install FC2. You can even uninstall LOMAC once FC2 is up and running. Doh too slow.

  30. It was "HAWX" - not Ace Combat There were legitimate responses which didn't seem to appeal to his better nature or maturity - which he seems to lack. There are limitations and compromises that had to be made - but evidently that wasn't good enough so he felt the need to [ ] <--click me He even took it one step further by PM'ing others in a rude manner - sounds like tipical troll behavior to me- don't defend that sir. DUDE ... have a wonderful day! .

  33. (*) I see you are missing one important fact. While flight sim development has to deal with limited resources and thus limited to do list the FC2 was limited even more and what we finaly got is far more fixes and feature rich product than anybody expected anyway. Outsiders (not members of the forums) see FC2 as every other product and they judge it as such. Insiders know that the only hopes one could have were for a FC1.x patch that would fix the very critical bugs (like ECM blinking), period. IMO there was an informal agreement between insiders and ED - "there will be either only a simple patch OR there will be something more but -no questions asked-". "No questions asked" meant "we will do what we can and there should be no whining". Basically LO+FC1 could have well been a discontinued product. No one expected improvements being done to the very foundations of the sim. The improvements were rather supposed to be done using available "tricks". This is how they dealt with the ECM issues for example. That said FC2 brought a lot more. Not only adapting most of the DCS series environment but even contributing to the DCS engine (!). The new sound engine is a bright example. Your idea is as good as totally disabling ECM. Simple as that. It would cripple the sim in much larger degree than current simplified ECM solutions. Yes, I'm with you - don't buy the next Flaming Cliffs :P As to DCS. If you find FC2 simplifications (which, again, you may be 99% sure were the best compromises from attainable options) simply either focus on DCS or on Su-25/25T which, given that FC2 features the same environment that of DCS, are almost as good as Black Shark or upcoming A-10C. Conclusions: - FC2 is not to be measured by the same scale as a regular commercial product - FC2 includes almostDCS Su-25 - today's word is . . . a t t a i n a b l e

  34. It's funny how you all make such a "huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge problem" out of nothing. Damn you should make some damn good television together, world's finest on a forum talking in the most childish way. Good luck with your "simulator". If you still believe that, well let's just say it explains enough. You guys are afraid of change, which is funny in itself because you asked for change, you got it now and the complaining begins (yet it started before 2.0). Leavu is an option, it doesn't tell where every fly is in the universe, you can all sleep happily ever after.

  43. That experience sounds like a bit of a hardware problem. Could be temperature on the GPU or the CPU. Also it could be memory on the GPU or PC. If I were you I would look for some extra parts to test with those - to see if it pinpoint the problem for me.

  45. Heat seekers (really, any modern AAM) use proportional navigation in the terminal stage of guidance. That means constant collision course, of if you prefer, intercept.

  46. Johnnychemo, Welcome to DCS:Blackshark :). I take it from your post that you count yourself among the green flyers mentioned here? I apologise if I'm incorrect. If you had no idea of the learning curve of this sim was so steep, you are not alone. But the thing is, you've taken the time to sign up and post here, which tells me that you are keen to understand this game from people who know how it works. That's a good thing. If you take anything away from this thread it should be don't give up :).
