You can contact me by email at: admin@spare-time-pilots.de The missions are very complex with lots of triggers and units. Editing the missions will break the trigger logic and mutate the defined difficulty level. If you have any suggestions please send me a email. The missions are still work in progress and suggestions will make the missions even better. If you still want to edit the missions by yourselfe, please add "Mission edited by [your name]" to the briefing. 3. Understanding the A-10 CMs are a weak spot for me so I did the tutorial twice yet two things continue to baffle me: - I edited one of the CM programs ("B", I think) to release 3 flares only. I therefore set the flare quantity to 3 and reduced chaff to zero. I then selected this program and, with the CM mode set first to MAN and then to SEMI, found that when I push UP on the HOTAS CM button, it dispenses flares until I manually stop the program with CM DOWN. The manual refers to something called "continuous dispense" but, if this is enabled by default, I do not know how to disable it. So, embarrassingly, I cannot figure out how to dispense 3 flares only per press of CM UP. - The tutorial refers to HOTAS CM "Down" and HOTAS CM "Back" (also keyboard "-"). On a standard four-way HOTAS CM joystick button (the same one on every joystick I've seen, including the r/l A-10/TM Warthog) how can this be? How can CM "Back" and "Down" not be the same action? I know this is a common issue in DCS A-10 naming conventions but this is the first time it has me baffled, as, in my CH profile, "extra" button functions seem to have been assigned to other HOTAS buttons. However, it is preferable to have all CM functions on one button, if possible, so I'd appreciate guidance. Thanks!

  4. Impressive sim. I must say that the combination of world class, grade triple A, TrackIR support, combined with 'world class' 5970 x 1080 Eyefinity support, encasing 'world class' level simulation fidelity creates the most impressive, compelling and challenging sim since Falcon 4. Wags...you killed it. I just bought the release version, and it takes FULL advantage of my hardware. I now have realized my ROI goals on my hardware. Thank you Wags. You guys are keeping the dream alive. -Surfer

  6. Bringing back up the thread from the deep of the forum... :D I had to completely format and re install my main PC. This allowed me to start with a fresh new install of Black Shark. I went through hell to have everything back on line for the pit. Took me a good 3 or 4 weekends before I found out what was wrong with my lua files (thanks to Gillesdrone from the French BS community for his help) :wallbash: . By the way, a good lesson learnt, although it is a known fact in the community, I confirm that Windows notepad should be avoided at all cost for editing lua files. Notepad++ rules. Another lesson learnt: The performances of the secondary PC running BSVP will impact the fps of the PC running BS. Now everything is back to normal, and even better than normal since, for a reason I still don't understand, my fps jumped from 15 (before format+re-install) to 30. Can't be happier than that. Flying is a real pleasure now. I took some time to make and comment a 12 minutes video showing the pit, a quick startup procedure and some cannon and vikhr action. :joystick:

  9. Sorry if this has already been provided but I'm offering an acronym checklist to use while reading the flight manual. I'm tired of referencing the end of the flight manual when I run across yet another acronym I dont know. This only occurs like every other sentence....geez... Anyway, its nice to have this by your side when reading the FM. Acronyms.zip

  10. TARS is a plugin which will allow you to integrate DCS: A-10 with Teamspeak 3. The concept is simple: No channel switching in Teamspeak to ruin immersion. Rather, multiplayer communication ought to be accomplished by setting the radio in the plane to an agreed upon frequency and using that. You have radios in the game, so why not be able to extend that level of immersion to the multiplayer environment using Teamspeak? If other Teamspeak users are on that radio channel and they're in the same Teamspeak 3 channel as you, they will be able to communicate with you over any of the radios in your aircraft. If you die and/or go to spectator mode, you will automatically be placed into a parallel “virtual channel” where you can communicate with your fellow spectators without having to switch channels in Teamspeak. We hope to release a beta for testing in early 2011. Since we are in a very early phase of development now, the TARS team's current goal is to gather input from the community at this stage, just in case there's a gem of a feature that heavy-MP users need that we can try to implement in the first phase of the project. Planned features include: Automatic control of your radio communications based on what channel you're tuned to and whether or not your radios are on. If you are on a given channel that other players are on, you'll be able to communicate with them without having to worry if you're in the correct Teamspeak channel. Dead/Spectator enforcement. If you get killed in-game, you will be sent into a spectator mode where you'll be able to communicate with other players who are dead and/or spectating. Radio effective range enforcement. VFM FM radio, for instance, has a limited broadcast range when compared to its AM counterpart. This ought to reflect in gameplay. TARS is planned around a client based architecture, with no need to install extra software or otherwise modify the Teamspeak 3 server where you play. Planned future integration with Black Shark once A-10 integration is complete. If possible (and as a secondary objective), we'll be adding radio filter effects based on things like distance and radio type, for a more immersive gaming experience. There are plenty of additional goodies that may become possible in the future. However the above are the main gameplay-enhancing goals. The purpose of this announcement is to engage the participation of the community early in the development cycle so that we can be as responsive as possible to your needs. When it comes time for beta testing, we plan to fully engage the participation of the community. Update: Here's a video from an early alpha build of TARS that demonstrates some of the above features: Last updated December 21, 2010

  14. Bahger, Program B by default is 4-0-0,5-10. This means that if your change is limited to removing chaff and asking for 2 flares, the programe will be 0-2-0,5-10; 2 flares every 0.5 seconds for 5 seconds - 20 flares. Also note (Page 401) that if you select Semi mode, the system itself will select program but require manual activation, based on threat. This means that even if you edit program B properly to be 0-2-0,5-1, if the system judges the threat to require more it will switch to another program. As an aside: Program K is 0-2-1-1 by default: one double flare deployment only. EDIT: double-sniped. :D

  21. If someone wants to add even Kh-41 to Ka-50 nothing stops him from doing that. Should it bother me if he flies with TOR under pylon and he does it on his own or friend server? Nope it shouldn't. All is allowed if it doesn't hurt "normal" servers and players.

  26. my computer is almost worth 60 times as much as the software that I buy to run on it(3DS Max not included in this statement). So $60 isn't really that bad. Plus I don't stop to think about how much it cost me all that much. More often than not, I rather think about what I would be doing if I hadn't bought A-10C. I probably would still be trying to play through ME2 for the sixth time, or playing Air Quake(LOFC2), or jumping off of cliffs and stabbing my eyes out in Black Ops. You see, DCS: A-10C, because gouging your own eyes out is much too painful. P.S. I am actually doing none of the above right now. The STS-133 mission has had me watching it constantly through NASA's live feed, and I am now sitting and waiting for the Discovery crew to do their morning EVA.

  28. I've been able to hook up fine, but sometimes the tanker will race off. The only issues I have while tanking with a buddy, is when the tanker turns, it almost does a snap roll instead of a steady roll rate. Also, once connected or in Pre-contact, the tanker will not turn until you abort contact... which brings me to my last issue. After I'm done refueling and my buddy wants to link up, I have to abort rejoin (should be an option to say finished refueling or something) which the tanker will then snap into a turn to make it back towards the orbit track. He'll also put the boom back up. It would be great if when my buddy calls (or I call) and the tanker says "Chicks in Tow" that he would also say "Proceed to Holding on the Left". When the aircraft being refueled calls "finished", the tanker will then tell the aircraft being refueled to "go holding on the right" and call the next in line. I'm sure the coding for that would be tough, but it would make it look cooler and feel more realistic.

  31. Using TACAN + ILS + PAPI is the best method for precision landing. Try trening mission in DCS A-10C (landing). Remember than in final version of DCSA10C some of ILS was changed.
    1 point
  32. I'd say run that training mission anyway - it'll help in planning visual approaches as well, especially getting eye references for the glideslope etc.
    1 point
  33. Most people go with visual approaches after contacting ATC and getting permission to land, but if you want to learn a proper ILS approach as implemented in the sim, try the landing training mission.
    1 point
  34. Have you had a look at pg 495 of the manual? Visual approaches are the norm. All aids on top of that are bonuses. I think you are going about it exactly the right way. Go see what the manual says and then get back and ask questions. It's a subject which can't really be said to be fully covered in three pages... :) Cheers, Fred

  43. hello, the mod is actualy on test at the 16 th black reapper. It is working very well and the testers says that it is a completly new experience. i have details that they notice and that i have to fix. draggon, i made a first install with a mod that i called russian cockpit correction. this mod includes the files KA-50 PANEL R.BMP and russian hud.tga then i made a second install over that mod including KA-50 INTERIOR ENG.BMP KA-50 PANEL R ENG.BMP and of course all the other files of my eng mod. that solved the problem i had since the begining with the helmet sensor close to the hud but not the horizontal part of the seat. so finaly i put the KA-50 PANEL R.BMP in the file temp texture and i had the horizontal part in game. that's not a real solution so i still have to try different things.

  46. I can't agree with you more. Once we get the basic mission flows going I think it will be easy to add a standard takeoff, landing and taxi to parking piece for each mission. Maybe we can make a Hard Core version with every mission starting and ending at the ramp and a somewhat Soft Core version with in flight missions and no landings required.
