  2. I have added a TRK file and several screen shots. I have a column of tanks, apcs and trucks. The close up of the truck has clearly visible tryes irrespective of hot or cold start. The close up of the T-90 is virtually invisible irrespective of hot or colt start. With the wider view you can see 6 vehicles in TV mode but only 3 in FLIR. Having the hot start fixed in the next patch is going to be a big improvement.....but there is still the issue of some models. As I said a T-90 is almost invisilbe when cold....which is fair enough. Ural 375 has hot wheels.....whereas a Zil135 seems to show white hot instead of black hot. Then we have dust trails clearly visible....but only on wheeled vehicles and not tracked vehicles After 5 minutes running most tanks can barely be seen with just a little heat from the engine deck (far harder to see than a dust trail)....hot exhaust should sufely be immediately visible and more so than a dust trail. Even after 10 minutes it's hard to see the T-90 but it's becoming visible. These are all from the Harrier as it's got the clearest display but it's the same in the viper etc. I understand the ambition...but we need to have consistency. This should never have been rushed out for the Apache. I love DCS but this seems to sum up EDs decision making which seems to prioritise things which can be put on a You Tube video for the latest module and hell to what's actually good for the game and the old model is actually better then the current half implemented & inconsistent system. There appears to be no common sense applied. Tank engine firing up obviously gives out heat. A vehicle driving at 10mph isn't going to kick up dust visible from further away than the tank exhaust. Accuracy and realism is great...but consistency is more important. FLIR test.trk

  5. What do you mean sounds and tracers for anti-aircraft ships? All weapon systems in my assets are modelled as close as possible to the real thing, based on open source intelligence of course. If we're talking about CIWS, in modern days they rarely use tracers. Since they're radar tracking and tracers are mainly for visual cues. It doesn't look as cool without tracers, but I try to stay as real as possible. The YJ-21 on the Type 055 is configured for 1000 km range, but needs AWACS coverage which is a problem with the standard DCS AWACS aircraft platforms.

  8. Adding prefix! From this asset and onwards I'm going to add a prefix to all the asset names. To make it easier to locate them in the mission editor. With every asset update I will introduce the prefix.

  9. Lets be honest the new FLIR system is utterly ludicrous. Some vehicles like the T-90 are impossible to see - they start cold irrespective of if they are ticked to start cold and even when hot are nigh on invisible. - whilst some vehicles (esp trucks) can be seen from the moon. It was better then we had the old model as at least it was consistent. The current system is an utter joke. Either get all models working correctly or none. Here is a video of FLIR looking at a rabbit (10:06) and we cannot see a tank!

  12. Короче, всё-таки зуд не смог одолеть, перешел на квест про, гоняю месяц. @kirillbubel был прав - четкость и яркость\контраст впечатляют. В сравнении с Reverb G2: Чёткость по всему полю зрения; Контрастность ещё выше; Нормальная репроекция и наличие 72гц; Меньшая цена у барыг, чем когда-то отдавал за реверб. Из минусов: Первичная настройка и обновление в РФ геморрой из-за блокировки Meta. Во-первых, хорошо что был старый роутер на котором можно поднять ВПН (родной МГТС не может). Во-вторых, час искал живой VPN для него - РКН перебанил почти все известные сервисы; Видимость вдали и четкость мелких надписей ниже. Пришлось экспериментировать с настройками PD и настройками в Oculus tray tool, чтобы добиться приемлемиых результатов; Пришлось заказать с али 2 вещи: шнурок с возможностью подключения зарядки, чтоб шлем не разряжался во время полетов и поперечный ремешок от квеста, чтоб шлем не давил на лоб. В общем и целом, после плясок с настройками ничуть не меньшими чем с тем же Reverb-ом, я доволен. Если Reverb хотелось снять и снова страдать в 2д, то тут такого желания не возникает. Наконец-то нормально читается вся кабина, без фокусировки центра взгляда на нужном приборе, наконец-то контраст сравним с экранным.

  13. В какую то фигню скатывается это ww2. Вместо развития интересной игровой механики лучше собрать 100500 игроков над Каеном и мучатся с фризами и просадками. Как здорово-то! Какой опять охренительный эвент! (спойлер - нет). Честно говоря - задолбал этот догфайт и этот дебильный тошнотворный скучнейший 4ya ww2 сервак, который так продвигают в т.ч. и ED. Реально хочется интересных механизмов, привязки к слоту индивидуально маршрута в планшете и задания в онлайн миссиях. Т.е. взял слот - получил задание с маршрутом и инфой в планшете для своего конкретного борта. И что бы разраб миссии мог сразу настроить параметры выполнения задания ДЛЯ СЛОТА. Т.е. как следовал по маршруту? Возвратился ли на свой филд? Был ли на нужной высоте и нужном районе над прикрываемой областью например, и не ушел ли оттуда раньше? Смотришь, и геймплей бы вдруг проклюнулся... Да и вообще кстати, ждешь возможности строить маршрут в планшете,и возможности сразу поделится с напарником этим маршрутом-же, а не радуг этих на облаках. А получаешь радуги. По визуалке тоже забота об WW2 сплошная. Про видимость контактов уже не говорю это стена непонимания и хейта от разрабов и фанбоев. Зато дымки так и не появилось нормально. Кстати и небо из за отсутствия дымки ВСЕГДА темное, одинаковое (привет видимость контактов!).

  16. It is really stupid idea to create FLIR textures on base of some pictures or video records. What we need is to implement some physics laws of nature into DCS. Like different materials properties of heat reflection, emission and absorbtion. Put into math the power of Sun rays during the Year and Day cycle. At the end of equation, add factors of precipitation, clouds, dust or smoke, sunny or shady side of object. Also darker matt material absorb heat much better than glossy bright paints. Small/thin objects heat up quicker than large/thick ones. Tracks of moving heavy tank warms more than light tank and much more than tires of wheeled vehicle. Everything not corresponding to above well known physics is not realistic. In DCS I'm sure this is impossible, but we can get very close to it. If Devs will not focus on pictures, but rather than to physics... than we can get reasonable FLIR simulation here. Getting FLIR image of static tank in the middle of grass field at summer noon, where you can't recognize it even if Gain and Level is adjusted is just nonsense. Speaking of Level and Gain, AT-FLIR auto Level-Gain at Hornet is still bugged since the release. It will adjust even if it's not boxed.

  19. Unlike some people I really don't have a problem with the Super Phantom 2000s I want the classic versions first. I think if we ever get the F the Ice would be the best variant otherwise it would be a crippled E

  22. Hello, Have anyone else also noticed after last patch significant drop of fps when on or near the SuperCarrier? Me, using non-MT, notice about 15-18 fps, then after launch, about two-three miles away from carrier, frames returns to acceptable numbers.

Considering I initiated the thread (with blessing and to have it pinned) to be the core F-4E discussion on liveries, it is a relevant point that the thread is not for B, C, D, J, N, S, K etc. jets. Up front it was said export USAF F-4E and the export Es, to include the F. Of course some G photos have been posted or asked about but the G isn't being done on the core side, plus they share the same schemes as Es but with different squadron/wing markings (and of course the external antenna differences). The purpose of *this thread* was to collect reference photos, squadrons, dates, photos of pilots/helmets, serial numbers, and names to both build core liveries to include with the module (which we continue to do), but also for those that want to do skins once the template is released. While we've already got some stuff identified for core/release skins, it's going to be that much harder now to go back through and build some ideas for other squadrons that could be done to match the earlier and later block Es, as well as good export candidates. Please do create an "Every other Phantom that's not an E/F Livery and skin idea" thread, it's a good ways off but maybe that will help keep this one focused on what it was originally focused on.

So while at the moment there's no command for George to 'store' a target he has lased, when you look at the TSD you will see a line from the ownship symbol with a crosshair over where he is looking. Next slew the cursor over that crosshair. Now you can either add a point manually with the keyboard or the 'cursor enter' OR select CAQ on the right side bar and 'cursor enter' and a white cross with PLT will appear where you have selected. You can use that as an acquisition source. It will be nice when we can direct George to store a target with the AI menu but this is what you can do as of now.

  33. I confirm this. Huge stuttering and fps loss on carrier deck. FPS overlay shows "simulation" going over 20 when it was just my plane and the carrier in the entire map. Something's not right.

  34. They aren't supposed to be on this thread, it's supposed to be specifically for the E model. If someone wanted to, why not make a thread for livery designs that are fictional or perhaps don't go on the model we are getting first?

  36. Test of a in development, Flight Control System. For now partially working auto pitch and auto roll level. To test plane every 30s target roll angle changes from +30 degrees to -30 degrees. delta_roll parameter is diffrential target roll angle and current roll angle. Roll parameter is a current roll angle in degrees. Plane in this test video flies without user interaction.

  37. I found one video edited by one of the member indicated that the radar indeed wouldn't reset the scan when rolling, at least not in a relatively fast roll rate. As you can see in the video, rolling is involved in all three examples of real life footages while the radar just keep continuously scanning.

  39. I've come to the conclusion that ED cannot fix the problem, they're clearly incapable. We're beyond it not being a priority, we're beyond it not being reproduced and allegedly we can discount "can't be arsed" so that leaves only one conclusion at this point doesn't it. Unless of course fixing things people have already paid for and continue to buy in a broken state is less important to ED than pushing the latest sale and the latest module.

  43. Hello, New to DCS. I like it so far, the small details match real world gear, plus guns and bombs make this sim much more enjoyable than MSFS. USAF vet, F-15 crew chief in '89 with the 57th FIS, tail 80-0041. C-141B FE with the 8th AS at McChord AFB through '96. Thanks in advance for saying howdy. Cheers.
