Thanks for testing! You are correct, there is an error in the reloading. I've fixed it and will be releasing an updated version shortly.6 points

Thanks! Well, it's only me and myself. So the crew is rather small, but that's how I like it. This means I can work at my own pace. I made my first DCS mod around a year ago. And I'm learning new stuff every day, that's why I keep updating the assets.6 points

I wasn't planning on sharing this as it's too big but there were some requests so here it is. Please read all instructions and notes. Many of DCS textures are needlessly large. Wasting VRAM and drive space. This mod reduces those textures at no reduction in quality. Benefits of this would be: Reduced DCS install size. (By about 26GB with all optimization) Reduced loading time. Reduced chance of running out of VRAM. Possible performance benefit Performance benefit will depend on your graphic card and mission. It will save more VRAM on heavier mission. Average VRAM reduction I've experienced is between 1GB to 3GB. With 1 - 4 FPS gain on my 16GB VRAM. May benefit more in VR. Or you may not see any FPS gain if you already have enough VRAM. YMMV. INSTALL with Mod Manager (Recommended): Place the folder into your Mod Manager Mods repository. (Keep correct folder structure per your Mod Manager) INSTALL without Mod Manager (Not recommended): Copy and overwrite files in DCS main install directory. Backup your files. NOTES: This is texture mod. It will not pass "Pure Texture" IC check. I only optimized cockpits for modules that I own. If you want to optimize modules I don't have or optimize more aggressively, I posted simple instruction HERE In order to maximize the drive space of your DCS install drive, I highly recommend putting your Mod Manager repository on different drive than your DCS install drive. For OvGME, make sure to also set "Custom configuration backup folder" to the slower drive. DOWNLOADS: These are Google Drive links because files are too large. You will get virus warnings. You can check for virus after download. Links are folders you can BROWSE. You should download the entire folder the first time but after that, browse and only download files that are updated. Updated files will be listed at the bottom of this post or you can sort by Date Modified. My Google Drive has bandwidth limit. Please don't download the entire folder each update. TBH, we are talking about a USD 5 difference. For a game that requires a 1000+ USD device (computer) to access, usually a lot more. I like to keep a modicum of perspective, those few bucks don't make a difference to me. I use the 'Cinema yardstick' comparison: where I live, 20 USD buy me 2 hours of passive cinematic entertainment, no drinks nor food included. Here (Normy 2) we get hours more of active entertainment - at much less the cost. Let's just rejoice. Looking at the work that has gone in the expansion alone (just watched the grim reaper's first impression of London and Paris), I'd say: I'm fully prepared to even pay full price for that much added quality; let's give the developers full appreciation for their hard work and not start nickel-and-diming an incredible achievement. I've paid far more for VR experiences that deliver less than these maps promise to do (just exploring London in a Huey is likely to take half a day, even more for Paris) - and didn't feel cheated then, nor will I now. The only thing I wish Ugra would improve: release it now!4 points

Hey, Thread tagged " null nullpm documented evidence". You have the doc I referred to, see sensor volume explanation in HSD section around p. 1-83 (and the figure on p. 1-82). Now contrast with the track I provided and see if it seems like it's correct. Clearly, currently in STT the sensor volume symbology on HSD follows neither actual nor commanded scan volume because it's fixed straight from nose (azimuth 0) in STT. After stepping back from STT with TMS down, sensor volume symbology on HSD snaps to the actual azimuth setting and actual azimuth (i.e. pointed at the bandit, which the radar was whole this time). There's not much more I can argue to say this is incorrect. The only evidence I've seen says it should show actual scan volume, not a scan volume you "might scan if you return from STT, break current lock and center the radar to 0 azimuth instead" which is pretty much what it currently does. Best regards, itn PS. Thread tags don't trigger notifications. I think replying with a message to a bug report is a good idea, so the notification gets sent. Also if the discussion gets longer, replies stay in the thread unlike tags.4 points

Still amazed how fast these are coming. I wish other mod makers would at least update theirs as much as you do. I think some more modern versions of the Bradley and Abrams would fit with what you got going now. T-90 and BMP-2 as well!3 points

@currenthillwow, it’s amazing how you are rolling these things out so fast and with such high quality. small request, your Iranian FAC is essential for the PG map. Would love some more Iranian navy assets and generally more Soviet era stuff. thank you for what you’re doing!3 points

Awesome stuff... the differences between Normandy 44 and Normandy 2 are huge... it's chalk and cheese to be sure! very much looking forward to the release.3 points

That's probably the best video showing the huge improvements. In one scene. When you went from Normandy 1944 to Normandy 2. There was suddenly a town where there wasn't one previously and a dirt airfield turned into a concrete airfields with hangars.3 points

You are on a roll! I mean, out of curiosity, how did you and your crew learn to make these mods and assets - 3d modeling, programming, coding, etc? And how long did it take you to hone your craft?3 points

You are brilliant. Thank you for all the work that you do for the DCS Community.3 points

Many thanks Taz! And, holy cow, this is no joke. The savings on file sizes are friggin enormous and there's no visual difference. The VRAM usage savings are very substancial, as are the improvements on drive space and game files access (faster loading times and less stuttering). Makes me wonder what the heck has ED been doing all this time, when it should have been like this from the start. I hope ED is looking at this mod/thread and seriously thinking about adopting (and compensating!) your work. I will not run DCS without this mod now, period.3 points

There you go Edited the first post so its permanent. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3330251/ Ill try that one tomorrow to have another off-site download link. Default files are usually de-shtonkified but full-shtonks included. Feedback highly welcome. Thanks to everyone involvled! Espescially DB605 and Magic Zach! Now, how do we proceed. I´ll take a small break from this and allow some room for feedback to trickle in. There´s still some JG.´s left to be done. Once i finished my little project, i´ll clean up the template and provide it for you guys to make your own liveries. But for now i have a beer and3 points

Am i the only one not bothered when its released? I'm pre-ordered from day one but theres plenty more jets to fly on there.3 points

V2 Min textures added. Darker terrain to blend better with darker trees. Default Orange tree color and normal texture were not matched. Which caused flickers. Fixed. Darkened shrubs. Darker Terrain V2 DOWNLOAD INSTALL: Extract into main DCS directory. OvGME or other Mod Manager recommended. NOTES: Not IC Safe For low flying helos, recommend using Forest Detail Factor of 1. And reduce Visib Range to compensate if necessary. For high flying jets, reduce Forest Detail Factor and increase Visib Range.2 points

The same . Actually they can all "be mounted" on the Su-33, but the WCS is pretty much the same as on the Su-27S, so there is no system/sensory support for them. In the case of the "Kh-41", it was a proposed air-launched version of the massive 3M80E SSM, but there is something to suggest that it never materialised except as mock-ups displayed on the aircraft at airshows - possibly because it really is an unpractical idea. The Kh-31A, on the other hand, is a fully operational weapon, but it requires support from the aircraft radar - i.e. air-to-surface modes, which as mentioned above, the the Su-33 radar doesn't have(same N001 radar as on the Su-27S). Kh-25MP and Kh-31P are anti-radar missiles, which are usually controlled via an extension to the radar warning system - the Su-33 was supposed to have a more modern RWS(than the Su-27) with such a capability, but due to the break-up of the Soviet Union, it didn't get it until very recently and for most of its service history, the Su-33 didn't actually have an RWR at all. In recent years some minor upgrades were performed on the Su-33, but while it now does have the necessary RWS system for controlling ARMs, there is no indication that such weapons were implenented. At any rate the RWS in question(L-150 "Pastel") is considered a sensitive item and clouded in secrecy, so finding the necessary documentation for how it works is probably going to be vert difficult.2 points

After the reviews, we made a list of work to be done before EA. We also received feedback from the team that makes multiplayer missions for the Sinai map. We keep working. We continue to work on improvement. But there is not a lot of work, rest assured that this is not a year2 points

G modeling is not fine. Watch any of the former F-16 pilots on YouTube talk about 9G in dogfights and how that is a defining advantage of the Viper against other planes. Anything over 7-7.5G for more than 5 seconds and you black out in DCS. Hasard Lee just put out a short the other day talking about pulling 9G and having some burst blood vessels in his arm from doing it. He didn't experience GLOC. Also, C.W. Lemoine talks about how the Viper in DCS doesn't have the acceleration during 4+ G maneuvering that the real Viper has. IIRC he mentioned accelerating all the way up to 7G with full blower. Go over 4G in a horizontal turn in the DCS Viper and you're definitely losing energy, not accelerating.2 points

Anything that's not cockpit, terrain or liveries. Basically ground units, ships, infantry, weapons... I'm working on liveries next. They are messy.2 points

In addition to these weapons ED should also implement the basic functions of the AN/ASQ-T50 pod. It would allow us to do simulated weapon launches and give indications whether or not a simulated launch would have resulted in a kill. The implementation would be quite simple as you'd only have to take, for example, the existing AIM-120 in DCS and launch it while the 3D model stays on the rail and the missile impact does no damage to the target. It'd also be able to be displayed in TacView if doing it this way. I get that ED might think that this is a very low priority but individuals and communities who fly in a realistic way according to real world procedures would like to be able to train that way as well.2 points

I implemented this function without the need to include any additional units with MOOSE Framework. 1. Generate a Morse code like TKR at https://morsecode.world/international/translator.html Pitch: 400 Character speed: 10 Farnsworth speed: 10 2. Edit the audio file to include pause by extending its duration to 10 seconds 3. In ME create a trigger SOUND TO COUNTRY (Ukraine, morse.wav) 4. Name the LHA "USS Tarawa" in the ME 5. Follow the standard procedure for MOOSE to execute the following code: carrier_unit = UNIT:FindByName( 'USS Tarawa' ) -- Carrier NDB local CarrierBeacon = carrier_unit:GetBeacon() local frequency = 0.42 -- in MHz local modulation = radio.modulation.AM local power = 100 -- Standard for VOR local file = 'morse.wav' -- Dots and Dashes: - -.- .-. CarrierBeacon:RadioBeacon( file, frequency, modulation, power )2 points
