  3. 26 July 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, It has been quite some time since we spoke of the development progress of the Dynamic Campaigns for DCS. Indeed, our team faced some technical challenges which demanded substantial architectural changes. Below we have summarised the current positive development tasks in progress. Enjoy! We are happy to announce our DCS 2024 Screenshot Competition where you can showcase your best DCS moments. We want to see your creativity! Read all the details on the forum post here and earn ED miles! We are also pleased to inform you of the new DCS: UH-1H Peacekeeper Lebanon Campaign by Flying Cyking being available in the next DCS update. This campaign will provide 13 challenging mission adventures for UH-1H pilots, and it includes a comprehensive PDF. Please stay tuned for the update! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Dynamic Campaign Development Progress The DCS Dynamic Campaign (DCSDC) has been a massive undertaking, but we are making steady progress in both the strategic and tactical elements. Here is an outline of our development tasks. Work continues to configure ground AI forces command and control. There are three main systems: The border and frontline system, navigation based on terrain and surface-type, and a multi-level formation system. These are combined into one code for the final fine-tuning of ground combat. The decision-making system for ground force objectives is being tested and refined as a function of force size, unit locations, and the general objectives of the coalitions. To improve ground forces movement calculations, a mechanism was created for the DCSDC engine that optimally analyses routes between points, whilst taking into consideration roads, terrain, and potential travel speeds across different types of surfaces. A navigation mesh editor is also being developed to allow campaign creators to modify old terrains to suit their needs. We believe these components can be applied not only within Dynamic Campaigns, but also for non-dynamic DCS missions and campaigns. Testing of the integrated air force ‘command and control’ of DCSDC into DCS continues This includes both the creation and functioning of the missions and optimization of different mission task flight profiles. Looking ahead, there will be tests made for all components of the strategic AI troop control and player participation. Testing of Dynamic Campaigns has resulted in a new tracking system that allows a detailed accounting of actions and behaviours. This is critical to the debugging process of such a complex task. The current DCS track file system has also been expanded with the ability to store RTS layer information. The resulting systems will allow you to review campaign events and provide a DCSDC active save system. This active save system will allow you to resume saved games and rewind time to replay an unsuccessful episode of a campaign. Screenshot Competition Capture the action! 4.

  5. Also, you have to judge every aircraft/module in its historical context. For the mid-eighties to mid-nineties the MiG-29 9.12 is a quite capable aircraft.

  7. Dev Update 1: Systems and Flight Model The EFM is responsible for the simulation of the flight dynamic model, engine model and aircraft systems. In early 2022 we started the development of the unique modular EFM framework that is used by the T-38A. It is specifically designed for the simulation of different aircraft types, providing dedicated simulation models for various engine concepts. Using this framework as a foundation, we've already completed different aircraft in the past 2 years: Two variants of a supersonic light fighter jet that is privately operated by the Virtual Turkish Stars. A high-performance turboprop trainer that is privately operated by the Virtual Silver Falcons. A piston engine light utility aircraft that is internally used as an initial testbed for new features. Within the framework, the aircraft is simulated by combining numerous logical components. Each component has its state and is responsible for a dedicated functionality. It reacts to environmental conditions and user input, triggers corresponding animations and most importantly simulates its behaviour. Each component is self-contained and can be reconfigured for the particular use case. This approach allows us to reuse many of the common components shared across the different aircraft, greatly increasing the fidelity of the implementation with each iteration. Flight Dynamic Model The flight dynamic is defined by over 25 stability and control derivatives. For the T-38A we’re using derivatives in non-linear form that take into account the angle of attack and the effect of Mach. These coefficients have been accumulated from various sources: Manufacturer wind tunnel tests U.S. Air Force flight tests Empirical estimations based on the aircraft geometry CFD analysis To make sure the flight dynamics closely match that of a production aircraft, we're using the results from U.S. Air Force stability and control tests and the handling figures of the flight manual. In addition, we’ve implemented several characteristical traits of the T-38A, including: The infamous stall characteristics with buffeting and high sink rate. An accurately recreated yaw and pitch damper system with variable gain and interconnected aileron and rudder. Flight controls with authentic deflection curves and variable deflection limits depending on the flight condition. Throughout the whole development process, extensive flight tests are performed by the Virtual Turkish Stars to identify and iron out any handling discrepancies. System Model To achieve a simulation of the aircraft systems on a near-study level, we’re following the “device and conquer” principle: The different systems are broken down into their elementary components, each individually simulated with a well-defined responsibility without the need to know the overall system state. The electric system is correspondingly a combination of numerous switches, circuit breakers, two generators, a battery and a multitude of electric devices as consumers - all connected to two AC and one DC bus. As an example, the 24 Volt battery has a capacity and is either charged or discharged, solely depending on the arriving voltage - regardless of whether it's powered by the generators or the external ground power. Likewise, the fuel system is comprised of fuel valves, several fuel cells, two boost pumps and - connected via fuel lines - the two jet engines as consumers. The hydraulic system consists of hydraulic pumps, hydraulic lines and hydraulic actuators like landing gear, gear doors and control surfaces. We are excited to share more in the future! Thank you for your overwhelming support!

  8. Hello all, Love the DCS Strike Eagle? I certainly do. Some of my friends and I have set up a Discord community server in which likeminded people can jump on and talk about our favourite module. It's set up in a way to encourage sharing tips, learn from one another and get to know the wider community. There is however one rule. No discussing the RB/ED situation. The Discord is focussed on enjoying the module right now, and there are plenty of places online where you can comment on the matter. This is a hard rule, and no one is exempt from it as we want to encourage a positive community that enjoys what it has now. Looking forward to seeing you there: https://discord.gg/nMFNr8YGSz If you're leading a virtual squadron and are interested, I recommend you get in contact with me. I can set up a custom role for you such that your squadron is featured, and you'll have appropriate permissions to promote your group in channels. Cheers, Peter

Collective_K51.xmlCollective_2_0617.XML Возникнут вопросы пишите в личку.

  16. NO! (Never, if you have the option of multiple drives at all) No! (The OS doesn't require and won't benefit much at all from the extra speed, now or in the near future when storage performance will almost certainly be different). Yes! (Puts the best performance where it's most needed) In that order This. Me, too. Crucial T705 for 'performance games' (like DCS/flight sims). OS/boot volume on a 980 Pro 500G. (Other crap on various other drive types/speeds)

  19. I mean, there’s been some Rumor screenshots that imply it was a $500,000 project. With off the top from credit cards and ED thats 7,000 buyers just to break even. it’s probably a rounded up budget number. But, it’s not a Windows 11 level install base or anything. At what point is the product just the product though? Granted it is still in EA so it’s still in the oven, but at 5 years on the street that’s getting a little silly. They’ll have ended up putting the lions share of a whole other module into the 90-100% polish for something that will maybe get another year or two before DCS has the next major breaks everything upgrade.

  22. In that last there were things for the WWII crowd, it was just the changelog didn't list them . There was a Fw190A cockpit textures revamp, by the way. Maybe some of the new map tech in Marianas WWII needs the new engine? Dunno. Hope we get to know something about Marianas (and all the stuff around Pacific...) sooner than later.

  24. Other than adding a couple of radios to the Hornet in the options menus, is there a way to get MIDS to work over VOIP? I find the DCS VOIP much better than SRS but the fact that the Data Link MIDS aren't available to use it limits the selling of using DCS native comms to my group. Also, I don't think having to add radios will be helpful since it won't be UFC controllable LIKE it is in SRS. If anyone knows different please advise. Thanks
