Dear Eagle Dynamics, First of all, thank you for the incredible work on DCS World and for continuing to expand its scope. Hiring modders like CurrentHill shows real commitment to quality and community content, and it’s something we all appreciate. That said, there is an issue that is increasingly frustrating the player base: the ever-growing size of the CoreMods folder and mandatory livery packs. The Problem Many modules include 10–15 GB of liveries (e.g., F-14 = 14GB, F-4E = 12GB, others = 8–9GB). These are downloaded by all players, even those who don’t own the module, because they’re placed in CoreMods. The result: Install size is inflated by tens of gigabytes. Frequent updates are huge and slow because they touch massive files. Players are forced to buy new SSDs or split the game across drives just to keep playing. This isn’t just an inconvenience. It actively prevents new players from trying DCS, and makes existing players frustrated when every update eats bandwidth and disk space unnecessarily. Why This Matters We understand the reason behind CoreMods: everyone needs to see the same aircraft and skins in multiplayer. But the current implementation is heavy-handed. Right now, we’re downloading and storing content that many of us will never use. Constructive Suggestions There are practical solutions that would keep multiplayer compatibility intact without punishing everyone with bloated installs: Optional Livery Packs – Move liveries into modular downloads (via Module Manager). Players who want them can install, others can stick with a default skin. Fallback System – If a client doesn’t have a specific livery, DCS should display the module’s default skin instead. This is common practice in other sims. Lightweight Core Option – Allow players to choose a “Minimal Core” install that includes only essential assets. Great for single-player or those with limited storage. Better Compression/Deduplication – Many liveries reuse textures or differ only slightly. Optimizing this would cut gigabytes without removing content. Conclusion DCS is already a large, complex game, but it doesn’t need to be unnecessarily bloated. With every new module (and now with more asset packs from CurrentHill), this issue will only get worse. We ask that ED prioritize a solution to reduce storage and update overhead caused by CoreMods and excessive liveries. This would improve accessibility, performance, and overall user satisfaction. Thank you for considering, P.S. CoreMods>tech>Animals contains only one animal a Cow and it is 51MB in size!7 points

Hi all! I have been playing DCS for 5 years on a 2D-monitor. Today I bought the Quest 3S, jumped into DCS and was completely blown away! DCS is a completely DIFFERENT game in VR, not only that you are suddenly sitting inside the cockpit, all the proportions is completely different! I have never liked or enjoyed the A-10C, but now I am IN LOVE with the A-10! This bird is HUGE in VR and the cockpit is sooo beautiful! I also jumped into the P-47 and ohh man, let me tell you, if you enjoy warbirds, you are teleported back 50 years inside the real P-47 and it looks NOTHING like on a 2D monitor! The thing is I am running a pretty crappy home computer, RTX 3080, 32 GB Ram, I5 and the most simple VR-headset a Quest 3S for 300 dollars, I am getting a solid 40-60 FPS in singleplayer even on Normandy map. This is the best spent 300 dollars in my entire life, I am NEVER going to play DCS without a VR-headset again, just doing some simple flying is 10x more fun then before5 points

Streaming content is very expensive, which is fine for massive companies with unlimited resources. But it does not scale down to well. Hi celesteHawk, Thank you for your input. I will share your comments with the team. Managing the size of DCS is something we discuss internally, but it is a challenge. thank you5 points

Our changelog has been just added to last update. You can check it in DCS Changelog and updates 2025 thread. We apologize for the delay. DCS Mirage F1 by Aerges General: Cockpit livery selection was added to the module options. It returns the ability to use custom cockpit liveries. In particular the "Mirage F1 English Cockpit CE and EE version" user mod. Note that the mod contents should be modified by renaming 'default' folders to 'english'. Module options tooltips are 'localizable' now - they will be displayed in the interface language, given their localization (translation) for this language was done. Systems: Fixed jettison buttons guards not reacting on mouse in F1BE. Fixed Optical Sight font looking blurred when its brightness is reduced. DCS: C-101 Aviojet by AvioDev Fixed conflicting dual seat airbrake control. Note that the rear seat always has the control priority4 points

I think I actually am going to use this plane, that is not the case for 95% of my other modules. If I use it 57 hours it cost me aone buck an hour witch is not expensive4 points

For the past couple months I've been working on a utility to help people create kneeboards/mission cards for flight nights with their squadrons/friends. I call it Digital Kneeboard Simulator. While its still a ways out from what I would consider fully feature complete it has quite a few features that I think make it compelling. No install required, is entirely a totally free webapp Miz file import with corresponding import of both flight and redfor elements. Full mission planning feature set Interactive waypoint editing Per member loadout support with exports to DCS Preset creation for mission card segments for rapid mission creation Supports all theaters (that I know of) All airbases listed and displayed on maps Easily snap waypoints to airbases Automatically calculates elevation for any point and snaps waypoints to ground if desired DCS-DTC export Loadout weight calculation with automatic rotation speed calculation Flight time and ToT calcualtions with automatic CAS calculations for interstitial waypoints Parameterized popup attack calculator Many templates with more coming Ability to publish kneeboards and share a public link to in discord for easy disemination to your squad Single click setup script included in exports Installable by hand if setup script is too scary Squadron system to allow co-operative mission creation and planning Supported airframes: F-16 (Stable) Kiowa (Stable) Apache (Stable) F-18 (Beta) A10CII (Alpha) Coming in the future Support for blufor import form a miz file Native DCS DTC file support (instead of the DCS-DTC external app, which is quite excellent) More attack profiles Note that this is not a utility to make a miz file. Instead this should be thought of as a utility to create mission cards for an existing miz file or create mission cards for squadrons that reqularly fly on servers with dynamic ranges. Sorry for this but with all due respect, SSD or M2 drives 2TB-4TB, are the cheapest component for a computer. Buy a 4TB drive and enjoy all liveries at will.3 points

No, DTC also allows for Radio Preset programming at the present state. In the future, we plan to integrate more features, for example the navigation data. This is an ongoing process. And that takes time. thank you3 points

Just to make sure, while this might be your personal estimation, such a statement has not been made by any official sources. There is no correlation betwen the two modules in any way. I cant speak for ED and their F-35, but the EF releases when its done as simple as that3 points

The fuel gauge includes the reserve. If you saw it at zero after your engine quit, then you were empty on the reserve as well. When on the main tank during a flight, you’ll see the fuel needle drop to 50 gallons and then the engine will quit. Quickly switch over to reserve and it will fire back up and you can use the remaining 50 gallons in the standpipe.3 points

Stop going to 5200-RPM. 2700 should be Max. Yes it's a bug as I've already told you in another thread. The engine took damage from that and most likely caused the engine driven fuel pump to fail. You're auxiliary fuel pump is off. With a damaged pump, you had no fuel going to the engine which would have caused it too stop. As for the shaking, it's most likely the cause of going to 5200-RPM and drastically dropping the engine speed to 2550.3 points

After seeing a lot of footage and testimonials of veteran pilots I've noticed that the missiles in the DCS world in general were too accurate. That's probably because it's a flight sim that people launch after work or school to have a moment in their day to rest and put their problems aside. But I think that the idea of giving the ability to third-party devs to add a random failure on their bombs (guided or not) or missiles could be great. From all of those documentaries I saw about Phantom pilots cussing on their early Sparrows because every time they broke the lock or just didn't fire after launch. The same thing happened during Desert Storm during the Samurra Air Battle when 4 Sparrows misfired or simply didn't launch. It would be great to add an option in the menu to activate this feature. And as for the randomized failures probabilities, maybe checking the hit rates of each missile and putting a factor of successful hit between 0 and 1 on them could do the job.2 points

Hi, I'm working on a full ILS usable beacons.lua file. As far as I could see, there was an issue with frankfurt main runway ILS issues, solved thanks @drPhibes, I could make Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, and Berlin "secondary" runways usable, and corrected Hamburg Finkenwerder ILS issue, as the glideslope and the localizer where mixed. So If you noticed some bugs or inaccuracies on some ILS airfields, just let me know, so I can make an edited lua file , with all corrections that I could make. The file will be shared on the user files, with kneeboard files so you can choose the runway You want to land, and have the ILS informations for them. I edited also the Hahn frequencies to 111.30 for the runway 21, and 109.30 for the runway 03. Those are virtual frequencies, as at this time, I didin't found any information about the cold war period for the ILS frequencies. I will share my work with the help of @drPhibes ASAP and keep it up to date ASAP as every update will change the original file. I saw that the devs has taken in account a lot modifications I've made, so I have a great hope of an original file that will be 100% functional over the time.2 points

I don't know what your local costs are, but for me a 4TB NVMe costs more than 64GB 6000MHz DDR5 kit. And I can't "enjoy" those liveries since I don't even own those modules, the only time I will ever see them is if I happen to spawn right next to them. Let's say ED puts all liveries into a "free downloadable liveries" module. You having to click one extra checkbox is an incovenience? And to rid you of that great burden, everybody else have to buy bigger SSDs? Don't you think people would rather use that money to upgrade to their RAM, than get a bigger SSD to store useless liveries only to accomodate your laziness? Unless both of you have outdated specs in your signatures, it's funny that you think it's prudent to spend more on SSD than on RAM2 points

They are and will continue to be even more cheaper per GB as time goes on. Agreed. Relying on cloud is just another failure point that a proper optimization on assets can save the sim from having it.2 points

You're 100% right on the first part. DCS is a hungry game on every front. The second part is not accurate as it is written. Updates don't re downloads any large asset unless is modified. Liveries are very rarely retouched. Once downloaded, it will only sit in storage, unless you're mentioning the technique of deleting the liveries to save storage. These are all great 100%. Lots of duplicated data indeed.2 points

To be most realistic, flying the Phantom is to use pen and pencil... and 7 Ps. Proper Preflight Planning Prevents P.ss Poor Performance. The planning is always before the flight. If something changes in flight use, as Karon already said. Pilotage and dead reckoning. And by the way, the use of digital maps is prohibited; learning how to fold a 1:500000 chart is kind of a piece of art. Yes, some of us used GPS in the 2000s, but mainly for navigating in European airspace, not busting any altitude limits or airspaces. We used in the beginning a simple excel sheets and later on PFPS.2 points

Thank you for all your feedback, it is very much appreciated and I am thrilled you have all enjoyed the campaign. I don't find myself in my own campaign section of the forums often and that is largely due to the fantastic testing team I have in place, which means there are very few bugs to deal with. Also the ones that did creep in on release, were fixed immediately. Many thanks.2 points

Link 16, helmet and aim-9x were not a thing before XXIc, GPS in aircrafts? certainly not 1991, during Desert Storm ground GPS tools were common, but ALL planes used during confict based on INS, drifting like hell, and pilots often turned back to radio navigation. Fun fact, that even things like NVG during 90's was not a std on F-15's. Our Hornet C lot 20 have upgraded engines and radar over 80's predecessor, it's still relatively close to CW one, if we remove DL, helmet and modern weapons, maybe for those reasons ED added Welleye II that was retired shortly after ODS, so there was practically no chance that lot 20 could even use it... Same can be said about DCS Viper. If you had to use early 80's Viper it would be a culture shock, especially old pulse doppler radar with range comperable to Fulcrum and similarly prone to notching and jamming. A Vipers were not HARM capable either, but older Vipers C were rather comperable to one we have in a2g, just diffrent weapon options with various foreign customers.2 points

Couple things here: First, you are exploiting a bug that let's you go above 2700 RPM, which will be fixed soon. Don't go past 2700. Stick within the engine limits. You'll find these on placards in the virtual cockpit, as well as in the manual and actual POH. This bird requires you know the operating limits, so learn them and drill them into your head. As for everything else, it just seems that maybe you're still learning about warbirds and engine management, which is great! We've all been there and you've chosen the correct path I'll give you my observations to help out: After takeoff, set cowl, oil, and intercooler flaps as desired. You don't have to close them just because you think you need to. It all depends what is happening with your temperatures. I didn't see your engine cut in this video, but I'm willing to bet it is because you closed your oil flaps, then oil temps went into red line and you cooked the engine. Also, you don't need to do anything with the intercooler flaps unless your blower is on, which it's not for takoeff (I hope!). Leave those closed so you don't have more drag than needed. There's nothing in the checklist about setting your trims to neutral after takeoff. Leave them alone, and slowly trim as needed for hands off flight at your desired flight condition. I noticed as soon as you took out the right rudder trim, your slip indicator was showing you needed more right rudder, so you would have been better off leaving the rudder trim in, and slowly taking it out only as needed depending on what the ball was showing. As for the shaking, you may have broken something in the engine. You were at high manifold pressure and pulled your RPM back VERY quickly. This would have overstressed the engine big time. Manifold needs to be pulled back before pulling the RPM back. Very quick movements with RPM and throttle put additional stresses on the engine due to high accelerations and decelerations. Treat it gently, and she'll treat you nicely as well. Whenever you move from one setting to another, give it a full 3 second count from one endpoint to the next. This bird takes some studying, and learning the basic principles. All of the above can be found in the POH. Read the actual POH linked below, and it all applies to the DCS module as well. I've read thru this thing almost 5-6 times now. It's invaluable. Also read thru the manual included with the module, just so you know some additional DCS-specific things. https://www.vmfa251.org/pdffiles/Corsair Manual.pdf Just keep at it. You're doing great2 points

Terrain has not loaded. When you notice “lakes” with housing floating, try pausing your sim - the missing textures will load after a small amount of time (this will prove this). There is something slowing your ability to load, try reducing some settings and see what works. I had similar with Syria for a while after it first came out, but several updates down the line when things are “polished” somewhat by the developer, it will improve. Syria now is extremely smooth for me. It’s still early days for the Germany map.2 points

That's what i wantet to tell you, but the text i wrote magically disappeared. In the lower picture (from 2001) you see the original layout with the four locks in the northern part, but they are inactive since 1972. The height difference between the upper and the lower channel of the Oder-Havel -Kanal is 36 meters. The new ship lift installation was finished in 2022 and not present in the 80's. In the third picture on the left side you can see the old Finow-Kanal. The old ship lift is in service since 1932 until now. And it's one of the main attractions in the Finow area.2 points

I don´t know if anyone would have great fun in playing a combat flight sim that represents the 2025 battlefield. BVR from hundrets of miles away in an F35, F16s degradet to hunt shahed drones, and combined arms with randomly exploding collums due to dji drones. My desire would be a vietnam theatre where we can use our Phantoms, Migs and Hueys like its meant to be. And new modules from that time like the Hun, or F105. Aircrafts that actually need to be flown by the pilot. That said I would also appreciate more from the late 90s/early 2000. Since we are about to loose the Strike Eagle I am realy looking forward to the FF Eagle and the Typhoon. And I would agree that some newer SAMs would be nice.2 points

I haven't tried Pimax or Quest 3 so can't comment on the sweet spot other than it's a huge improvement over the Reverb. I've been running a G2 for five odd years at 60hz without reprojection at around 3600 per eye resolution plus OXRTK with 60% CAS. This provided a very good image in general. The BSB2 I'm running at 3560 per eye in DCS with Quadviews making up for the extra 15 frames, so I'm getting similar performance with a much crisper image using the same DCS settings. Once they get the foveated eye tracking online will have a lot more headroom to supersample. Without any experience with the super high resolution headsets from Pimax etc, all I can say is that the clarity is impressive and I'm very, very happy with how DCS looks in the headset, particularly in night missions. Yes there is persistence/glare in certain scenes, which is a real shame, but for me only annoying if I focus on it. Definitely loses marks though on this point. With Iracing I was running the G2 at 90hz, so with the extra 15 frames to spend I've been able to crank up the resolution on the BSB2 to 4300 per eye. Looks incredible and tbh I couldn't ask for much more clarity wise. No noticeable difference in smoothness going from 90hz to 75hz. Tracking I'm working on. I only bought one base station which is ok for Iracing, but for DCS it gets jittery when looking sideways more than 45 degrees or so. Have ordered another base station which hopefully should be enough. Best thing about it is the comfort. The headset is so light I can just put it on and leave it on then do all the settings, alt tabbing and faffing that sims demand in Steam VR dash. As someone who needs to use reading glasses this is a major QOL improvement over the G2. I haven't tried Virtual Desktop.2 points

@currenthill : Thanks again for the official release of all these wonderful assets. I've been waiting so long for some of these units in DCS! For your next official DCS asset pack, would it be possible to include your infantry packs? I belong to the 06MHR, which is one of the largest European helicopter squadrons, and we have tons of transport helicopters that would love to have greater tactical utility by transporting soldiers equipped with Javelins, Kornets, or snipers, or even your mortars (which are air-transformable). This would be a real game-changer for our Chinook, Huey, and Mi-8 pilots. The biggest flaw in official DCS assets has always been its lack of diverse infantry; this is even more noticeable for the specialized modules in the CAS, and even more so for the transport helicopters. Adding ATGM & Sniper infantry would be a real game changer for squadrons like ours!2 points

UPDATE v1.0(?) Hello everyone, today it's not going to be a regular update but a fresh start with the addition of MiG-31K version to the mod. The old User Files link is going to stop getting updates with v2.72 being the last available version to download. From now on the mod will include both MiG-31BM and MiG-31K versions developed simultaneously. First off - changes to the BM version compared to the latest version: - Fixed HUD glass texture on the exterior model, - Added variable air intakes animation, - Added altimeter pressure setting knob, - Two new liveries by Brzoza - @StalkerXDPL - Changed afterburner nozzle texture, - Adjusted Kh-31P flight parameters, - Made cockpit afterburner sound quieter, - Changed the texture of metal hydraulic parts (refueling probe, gears), Now the MiG-31K version - it uses Su-25T avionics, so it's free, you don't even need FC3/2024 pack for it to work. The Kinzhal missile works with ELINT Fantasmagoria pod, however the pod itself is not visible, but you still need to equip it in ME. As you could probably figure out, due to DCS FC3 limitations, Kinzhal works as an antiradiation missile. The maximum range I could get it to hit the radar was 500km, it was also the maximum range enemy radar could see me above the sea while flying at 15000m. Due to DCS missile coding limitations (I might be wrong and it might be further researched) the missile doesn't actually perform like Kinzhal would (allegedly), and any changes in the direction of more "realistic" behavior make missile miss and stop working properly. It still flies a high arch trajectory at very high speeds but it's not really ballistic. Hit probability is dependent on launch parameters and from countless launches I've made, I recommend not to launch it closer than 150 or even 200km from target while also being at at least 15000m altitude and above 1,4M. Right now I couldn't make AI launch Kinzhals (at least from further distances), will work on it in coming updates. Enjoy!
