Reinstalled the VC... package, increased my pagefile from 16GB to 32GB(looks like windows didn't (looks like windows didn't accept the change, did this again and now it has changed the swap file from 16GB to 32GB - will try again later if that helped), i have 32GB of RAM. I flew on the same servers with the same settings without any problems before with my Rift S but with the Reverb G2 i get this strange crash on MP only it seems! If i fly in SP there is no problem, i flew my test mission for over 1 hour, switched views with F2 and roles(planes/helicopters) many times to see if i can get it to crash but in SP everything is fine - very strange. Latest log file attached was on a MP server, i was the only active player, flew the F-14, changed view very often and had no problems until i switched roles to the Hind and -> SteamVR crashed with DCS. RAM usage at that point ~26GB dcs.log

Hi silverdevil, this is a new Win 10 and DCS install, with a new generated saved games folder. There are NO MODS installed and i did a slow DCS repair between post 1 and 2. If i enter the MP lobby i get the IC check passed symbol and i can connect and play on the server for 15 to 45 minutes before this problem occures. This problem started with the new Reverb G2 / WMR /SteamVR HW/SW combination. That's why i also tried the WMR/SteamVR beta versions without success because everytime this problem happens SteamVR is also crashing "fatal error...". I don't know if SteamVR crashes and kills DCS with it or vice versa. DCS still runs flawlessly in 2D, i haven't tried my old Rift S which worked perfectly fine on this PC before. Thanks for the link, the VC... dll files are not missing on my PC but i will try to reinstall the Visual C++ Redistributable Package.

Some more logs AFTER i did an slow repair. This time i was flying an F-14 and switched with F2 from my plane to an player F-18(MP) and the same problem like before, DCS crashes and SteamVR crashes. This time we have: VCRUNTIME140.dll GraphicsVista.dll This seems to be VR(HP reverb G2?) related because i didn't had this problem before with my Rift S or in 2D mode. Logs2.zip

So in this case, no news is good news(no delay news...)

Hi, i recently bought a HP reverb G2 to replace my Rift S. If i now fly for some time and switch views to other planes(F2) i get an error - Steam VR crashes and so does DCS. This also happens sometimes without changing views with F2 but flying in my plane. The last crash(logs attached) was on MP server, switching through planes with F2 and DCS/StemVR crashed as soon as an player F-14 came into view, maybe just a coincidence but i was flying the F-14 myself as i tested the new G2 and had the "same" crashes - SteamVR and DCS. I had this also flying the Hind. No mods installed, using latest open beta. I did test SteamVR/WMR beta and non beta versions, checked local files. I will now do a DCS repair(slow). I had this never before with my Rift S, no need for SteamVR/WMR. Logs.zip

DCS Mi-8 is 7 years now, time for an update ?
unknown replied to Hueyman's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Why is all you can do on this forum is to attack everyone that wants to fly his 2/3 crew plane/helicopter without a second human player? Why is it so hard for you to understand that there are many people out there who whant to be able to fly alone or have nobody within their friends who would be interested in playing this niche game? Why is only YOUR solution the ultimate right and one and only solution that you are required to have a second human player in the cockpit? And i'm not interested in a random dude on the internet to join my cockpit, had that once in an F-14 and after him ejecting after takeoff leaving me with a convertible, no thanks, i keep flying solo. And no, nobody will "go play single player" because of some pissed off, rude dude on the internet is telling them.- 117 replies

Because the developers of the Hind are also the developed of the Mi-8. Guess what, they didn't simulate the "Ispanka" there too(but atleast you have the metal protection case for the 3D model there) with the same statement, not usefull against DCS IR-missiles represented. So you have 3 options now: wait patiently for them to expand scenarios and implement the "Ispanka" in the next 1-20 years give them some big $$$ as an incentive open your own dev team and develop your own Hind modul with "Ispanka" (a Hind-D or V would be really nice, i would by them )
-
Last time i flew the Mi-8 online you could switch between stations too(if my memories does not fail me), but that was some time ago(before Mi-24 EA release).
-
This is because the "cargo view" was added later and DCS has "2 external models". 1 for the outside view(the nice/shiny one) and 1 for the cockpit view("performance optimised"). The one from the cockpit view is not what you see if you hit F2... The "cockpit" external model will have reduced details(not visible in mirror or by "normal" head movement from the inside of the cockpit) or some "workarounds" visible if you use VR, i remember a "wall" behind the huey cockpit to "solve" light shining into the cockpit from behind.... They are just old models, before VR was a thing in DCS and the modules had to be "VR bulletproof" - look at the FW190A8, you will still see missing things in VR or "misaligned" cockpit to 3d model like with the F-14 if you leave the cockpit in VR that are not visible in the F2 external model but it is not htat dramatic like with the old 3d models like the Mi-8 or Huey.

correct as-is hung start on latest update is not a real thing
unknown replied to Simba11's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Yeah if nothing is broken you will have to look at the clock ,they will repair your F-16 but you will not get any other notification than "copy" or do it your way to get the timer/mesaages. -

unknown replied to Simba11's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Just ask ground crew to do a repair, wait 3-4 minutes to let them finish, have fun starting up the F-16 again. -
Looks like you put Petrovich in "free fire mode" - that is W long. (green colour around the boxes) It works for me and should look like in the screenshot below:

It seems you didn't get the problem discussed here. The problem is NOT a FPS hit while you look at a cluster bomb explosion(this is as old as DCS), the problem is you look at the ground where the cluster bomb went off 20 minutes ago, no gfx effect is rendered, absolutely nothing is to see, just ground texture, no explosions, no smoke but your FPS drop drastically like the cluster bomb is still exploding, 20 minutes after you dropped it, every time you look at the area the bomb went off! And if you fly on a MP server where someone drops cluster bombs you wonder why your FPS drop drastically looking in the direction the other guy dropped CBU's x minutes ago, that you never saw with your own eyes, all you notice is a drastic FPS drop looking in some driection, wondering what is going on.

Cockpit Video of the TrueGrit Eurofighter !
unknown replied to Eagleflieger's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
I believe TrueGrit is/was capable enough to make an eye candy cockpit: -
You switch between Chaff and Flare with the "petrovich menu down long" command.

Great you figured it out!

That is a wired thing. I don't know if you can reproduce this in a short track(hot start, takeoff, problem...kind of track) because your last one is not playing correct on my end. My thought was if it is a HW problem on your side i should see it happen in the track replay and if i take over control before the "automatic missile" fire happens and no missile is fired it would show there is something odd with your bindings or HW. If it also happens on my side after i take control it has nothing to do with your bindings or HW and would be a software thing. There are 2(with you) people in this thread saying they have this problem, not that much so i would think its a) a HW thing or b) a very rare bug. Ok, you could say and only 1(me) who says he has no problems But i also can't reproduce what you see in the Viper.....
-
I never had anything you report ever happen on my end. What controller do you use? I know Virpil has a joystick tester where you can log the input of your device. It wouldn't be the first time that a HOTAS started showing its age/a defect by some random "ghost" signals.
-
I tested this and can confirm the described behavior. Selecting left side will fire 2 S-13 from the left side and one S-13 from the right side, also if trigger is pressed again it will work as intended, only 1 S-13 from the left is being fired. Quick and dirty Track and video(should be 1440p after YT processing) attached. MI-24_rockets.trk

Thanks for your effort, i only had time this morning to download your track, sadly i can only see you doing your cold start, hovering over to the runway and there you crash at the takeoff, so i would say your track is not replaying correct for me
-
Thanks @Flappie I have updated my GPU(not because of this problem) from a 1080ti to a RX6900XT. Running the track my FPS went from ~170 before the drop to ~33 at the explosion and back up to ~55-59 after the explosion finished. Whatever is causing the issue, i lost ~100fps with my old 1080ti and i loose ~100fps with my new RX6900xt, the difference is only that it is still "playable" on the RX6900xt(2D) but it wasn't on the 1080ti. That could be why some people "can't see the problem"? Looking somewhere and having a fps drop to ~60fps "isn't that bad" as to ~30ish, just my thoughts.
-
Would it be possible for you to upload a track please? I spend 5 houres in the Hind SP/MP last weekend and Petrovich never ever shot one missile without me commanding him to do so. Did you check for double key bindings? What joystick do you use? "Phantom" key presses by the joystick? I'm just guessing here.
-
Is your Petrovich menu green? If yes you ordered him to fire at will. Petrovich menu up once(long) to activate weapons, after weapons are active (from red -> yellow ->white menu) and you use petrovich menu up again you will give him the order to "free fire", press menu up again for "hold fire". Atleast Petrovich is behaving on my end like he should.

I only had the performance hit at the time they explode(not that extreme if i remember correct) in the past. I didn't had time for DCS for a couple months but found this issue after returning. So atleast for me it is a new problem, that the fps hit stayes after the explosion effect. I also noticed this online after a SU-33 dropped some cluster ammunition, looking at that area made DCS unplayable - you can divide them(figures down below) for VR. I have created a very simple test mission. Just a Humvee waiting for a F-16 to drop 6 CBU-97 on caucasus map, no target unit, just "THE cross" My performance(2D) is 100+ fps before the F-16 drops the CBU's, fps drops to below 20 at explosion/dust/smoke and climbs back up to 35 fps after the effect ends. Panning around my fps climbs to 100+ fps everytime the former area of explosion is out of view and back down to ~35fps as long as the former area is in view. Mission and track file attached, post will be edited with YT video after processing is finished. It would be interesting to see your results. CBU_performance_mission.miz CBU_performance_track.trk
