Like others said, that is not the problem discussed/reported here. The problem is looking at the area the CBU's went off minutes later(heck i arrived 20min later to the same area in a Hind after i dropped 6 CBU's from a F-16 Viper) and the FPS went from stable 40fps(VR Rift S) to 20fps and below! There was no explotion/smoke/craters visible from the distance but it killed the fps and performance went immediately up as soon as i was not looking at that area again and went immediately back down as soon as i was looking at the area again. That is the problem and not a short drop in fps because the old DCS engine is not capable to render an performand particle effect.

This worked perfectly fine in the 1998(?) Apache vs. Havoc Sim - working whipers removing rain drops from the windscreen.

Petrovich sturm misses high with about 55% hit rate
unknown replied to fargo007's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
I had 6 sorties this weekend with 8 ATGM each time and i had Petrovich miss 3 missiles, 2 i knew would miss because i pressed on with the attack and was to close, one went into a tree because it was in the way But i never did hovering attacks, all with speeds between 100-250km/h, long shots against AAA so my missile would hit before or at the time they open fire at me and i have time to react. -
I just tried it on the nevada map and had no problems, the Viper followed 3 steerpoints automatically.

Hi, i was flying my Syria test mission(in VR). I exited the mission and DCS crashed at that point(mission exit). The collect information window popped up and i did run the information collection, zip file attached. All drivers are up to date. dcs.log-20211111-195552.zip

Serious question, are you flying with keybord? (Not meant to be negative!) I never experienced this or i expected it(not enough right rudder authority because of my weight/weather). @kalas1988 Could you please provide a track? I have no problems flying or hovering the Hind, but i also have hundreds of hours in the Mi-8, so the Hind kinda felt like home from the first second.
-
No, ED said this a couple times. This will not come for the Hind and they will not implement the function on the Mi-8(despite the device is modeled there).
-
Works fine on my side. 9M120 outer pylons and 9M120F inner pylons. You can also command Petrovich which type of missile to select with the petrovich menu right short command, see pictures below.

They are asking what "indication" exactly means in the "multicore" list: " At the end of Q3 2021 we accomplished: Graphic backend EDM models Human models Atmosphere Water and sea Terrain engine Special effects, particles system Night lights for terrains Scenes Cockpits Mirrors Indication GUI Post-effects Cascade shadows "

Selecting atgm target with petrovich
unknown replied to Thunderchief2000's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
up and down to move to the desired target in the list, short right press to select the target, short left press will bring up the CM menu If i remember correctly -
ED says many things all the time. AND every time they say something it is with the disclaimer "Everything is subject to change". So it can be delayed, features can get scrapped, you can love that, you can hate that but in the end you have to deal with it.
-
My guess is they will fix it for the Mi-24 and backport it to the Mi-8.

Never had that myself. What position was that switch on the Armament panel? I have it in the UP-AUTO position + the lower one left of the sight in AUTO Short, not listed example video(should be 1440p after YT processing) - in the beginning i switch rockets - 30mm and you can see the reticle move - ok hits first run - second run i'm over a little higher ground than the targets -> rockets are a little long

The question from the OP was how you do it (hook/unhook cargo) to do sling load operations, your answer was you think it's not implemented yet. So i showed how you can do it in case OP wants to try it for himself. Yes it is bugged(they probably copy/pasted the code from the Mi-8) but you can do it, i never said it is bug free. I don't remember how long this is bugged in the Mi-8, but you will probably get an WIP tag if you report this for the Mi-24....

If you only have one axis ignore all throttle axis and use your axis for the collective! See attached picture: - 1 and 2 -> you never touch under normal circumstances - 3 you only need to rotate full right while doing a cold start(you can use the mouse), full left for shut down, you don't use this axis in flight/taxi... - 4 is what you need to fly, the collective You might want to invert the axis of the collective to get the "helicopter feel" -> your RL throttle to you(back, jet idle thrust) = collective up = increase lift -> your RL throttle away from you(forward, jet max thrust) = collective down = decrease lift
-
There is no need to wait, this is already implemented and working. I tried to make a short video of it but the track is not playing back correctly and i don't think recording in VR would be pleasant to watch. 1. -> activate before hooking the cargo 2. -> activate after hooking and lifting the cargo up in the air The cargo will be auto unhooked after touching the ground, i didn't look for manual release in the key bindings because i use the auto unhook always in the MI-8. EDIT: I did a quick and dirty try flying 2d and recording at the same time, so forgive the crappy views. (should be 1440p after YT processing)

+1 That was a nice surprise. I'm wondering(this is highly speculation!), with the mentioned "topics" radar, ecm, paratroopers in that story if this is a "teaser" of things to come/get improved in DCS?

Why is this post edited but has not the "Edited x hours ago by xyz" tag at the bottom of the post? Or was the original post deleted? That sounded quite different a couple hours ago. You can toggle on/off the info bar in the cockpit view also. So if you have your FM "calibrated to the reference source" you can cross check the speeds from the Info bar to your instruments if they show correct values for the pilot to use for optimal performance.

Are the fuel cutoffs labeled correctly in the startup video?
unknown replied to Raven434th's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
It was already said that the label is wrong and that this error in the english cockpit will be fixed for EA and some other label errors too. What Kerberos said is correct. Edit: -
Yes, it is the hot topic in that section. But many replies are like what? "...deleted xyv...worked...oh it is back...tried this....oh, didn't work....will try xyz...." Heck, i also posted there for comparison of my settings hoping it would help(but didn't). Don't get me wrong, like i said in my first post, it is not my intention to downplay this problem, maybe it is just a language thing but for me "widespread problem" = over 50% of user base has this problem and that is something i can't see! I can play for hours on same/different maps/missions/modules, no problems with crashes. Maybe i just read so many exaggerations(not from you) on this forum that this one triggered me, i don't know, sorry if that pissed you off, it was not my intention.
-
I don't want to downplay the problem but maybe because widespread is subjective? I had 2 problems with 2.7.x versions of DCS: - crashes with the F-14 because DCS failed to load F-14 related stuff - solved by deinstalling/installing the module again - black screen after patch - solved by deleting the options.lua file I never had crashes on second mission load/ switching airplane slots....i get it is annoying if you are affected by a bug, especially if it ends in a crash but i also don't see hundreds/thousands of people in that thread, that would be widespread IMHO. Again, i'm not downplaying the problem and i hope it gets fixed sooner than later but please stop with the exaggerations(widespread).

Searched the forum but didn't find anything. I'm running the latest OB and inspired from a thread in the Mi-24 forum i tried to sink an OHP with an Mi-8. During the test it turned out that there is a bug with the LoD for damaged parts of the OHP superstructure, they get invisible. Loadout for the Mi-8 were 6 x S-8OFP2 rocket pods. OHP_LoD_damage.trk

What will be the best weapon for an Anti Ship Strike mission?
unknown replied to w4rlord117's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
In RL? Forget it. In DCS? Bring a Mi-8 with 6 S-8OFP2 rocket pods, if you survive they have enough damage potential in DCS to sink an OHP and with 6 pods you have some rockets to spare for something else. BTW found a LoD bug for the OHP testing it -

Seing that the instrument was working at the end of the video means it is working, might not be working correct right now or Wags missed a switch.... I was just pointing out that the instrument worked later in the video. The mirror also catched my eye. Looks mlike the Mi-24 is not as pollished as some people hoped/wished for....it's fine for me, release tomorrow please.
