I know you're not barking because you are physically not able to bark because you're a CAT!!!!!!!!!!

Hm, my AIM-7M goes dumb every time i shoot them against an ECM capable aircraft...still in 2.7...still no comment from HB if this is known, worked on, was reported to ED or that they will have a look into it after some more important things.... If i had made the bug report over a month ago i would guess i'm on their ignore list but i did not open that thread... If this sounds like a rant - it isn't. I just would appreciate some sort of feedback on that topic.

Because this his his/her first post, and it looks like he/she is a little lost with this forum structure and no mod has moved this to the right sub-forum yet - so i thought i might help at least a little instead of the default barking "wrong forum".....

If you bought your modules on the ED DCS World Shop site you can only use them with the DCS standalone(not steam) version. There is a red notification text everytime you buy a module on the ED shop site warning you about that. If you bought your modules on steam there is a way to activate them in the standalone version of DCS but not vice versa. I can't help you with your VR problem because i use a Rift S and not a MS mixed reality compatible VR headset but you could have a look in the VR part of the forums and ask for help with your headset there: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/302-virtual-reality/

known issue Jumping clouds
unknown replied to Charly314159's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
I usually play with ASW on because i don't like the jittery(i don't know if that is the right word?) head movement with ASW off and FPS below the 80fps(i can't hold that in DCS and VR) range, that makes me motion sick having this vibrating picture every time my head moves a little. With ASW on i don't notice the jumping clouds much, only in the distance and looking forward, to the sides it's barely noticeable. I played a little with the OTT tool and ASW off but with that setting the clouds jumped noticeable more on my end, all around me, near or far - like with the external view and ASW on but in cockpit view now. -
Thank you very much for reporting this, it is the only "bad" thing i experienced with the 2.7 patch - the loss of the laser pointer. I now have to fumble with the controler, bump into my desk/keyboard/monitor... trying to use VR keys/switches/MFD's....all takes alot more time and tries that before was easily done.

Cloud base too low when not using a preset
unknown replied to 104th_Money's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
I can't reproduce this on my end: Yes, there seems to be a bug with the rain3 preset, it works with rain1 and 2: -
Thats what i see with 2D and VR with the same DCS settings and running in game PD of 1.5. This is a quick test in the F-14, made a short track to have the same flight in 2D and VR. 2D looks finer, more color gradiations, i'm lacking words to explain it.

The only new option is SSAO, the other two options are already in since months/years(SSLR/SSAA) and documented in the DCS manual page 25. For SSAO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_space_ambient_occlusion

The Hind is not part of this 2.7OB update, you are "only" missing out the clouds. Update size was under 65GB for me(i guess because of map updates - map updates are always the biggest updates). If you own all/most maps but don't use them all just deinstall the ones you don't use to get some free space.
-
I noticed this is "only" for the clouds looking forward and in the distance and in any non-cockpit view(F2,F3...) - in this case all clouds. If i look to the side there is no vertical jumping for me. (clouds ultra).
-
Thanks for this update ED. I had only little time(1h) to test so far(VR) but it looks pretty good and no huge fps hit even with clouds at ultra. I'm looking forward to the coming updates!

Yeah, track is broken for me too now. It worked fine, wtached it before uploading it here. Video 1 F-14B (should be 1440p after YT processing) - start in ME with SU-24M selected to show there are no advanced waypoint settings - AIM-7M goes dumb after launch - back to ME and change the advanced waypoint settings to ECM=off - SU-24M destroyed by AIM-7M Video 2 F/A-18C (should be 1440p after YT processing) - start in ME with SU-24M selected to show there are no advanced waypoint settings - SU-24M destroyed by AIM-7M So it works with the F/A-18C(and someone said also with the FC F-15C, never used that plane myself) but not with the F-14B(i did not test the A model).
-
The same for the F-18, AIM-7M works perfectly fine only the F-14 is affected. Considering you are "DCS Ground Crew", is this officially reported? Because in the Bug report from falconxr8sonic a month ago there was no reaction(thread not marked, no comment from HB).

No, that is from Deka's JF-17 Quick Guide, it is not a finished manual yet. You can find it under "...\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\JF-17\Doc"

Have a look in this thread, uboats wrote: "planning CM-400AKG and LS-6 100/250, but not guaranteed"

The manual from Deka states it is a KJL-7. As far as i know it is a Block 1 with some features from the Block 2(i can only recall the refueling probe right now). If i remember correctly Deka said if they can/have enough Data they consider upgrading our JF-17 to a full Block 2.

Never claimed that this was in operational use/doctrine. But the thing is, the Mi-24 was designed for a war in europe not for a war in the climate/high terrain of afghanistan. So why should something that - might be - suitable for an european war but never be used in afghanistan because of performance limitations be the ultimate nogo argument(not used in afghanistan = never ever done/tested/tried ever) against this ability, only becuase there was no european war where they might have tried/used this? The german Bo-105 anti tank helicopter trained(with ground units) refueling/rearming at random fields/places. Maybe thats where the "myth" comes from. NATO trained these things with small ground units and they saw the Hind had cargo capacity, so 1 +1 = they thought maybe they use that to rearm themself in the field like we do with our helicopter + ground units? Like you said, i'm speculating here, never claimed to have a prove for that, just looking at how easy these things can be mounted. But in the end i don't care, i will just put an invisible FARP near the "battlezone" if i want a quick refuel/rearm.

The "automation" point i would disagree with. They used autoloader in tanks instead of a human loader, they have automation in their submarines to reduce crew size no western submarine has/had, the Buran "Spaceshuttle clone" flew fully automated, something the original spaceshuttle never could....
-
I don't want to disappoint you but the Hind is not planned to be released with the (first) 2.7 patch(now planned for the 14th April 21 not the 7th anymore). The closest "EA release date" we have is from the newsletter: "We look forward to sharing more information closer to the Early Access release in late Q2 2021." So in june and even that date can slip. If it comes earlier - hurray - if it comes later - it is what it is.
-
Yes, i would prefere that too, but many others would not, hence my comment "You are cursed if you are working for ED, you can't please anyone."
-
I would bet peaople would moan because they have to wait sooo long.
-
The community is crying and waving torches if they don't tell guesstimated dates and the community is doing the same if they do tell but miss them(what they regularly do - so no surprise on my side). You are cursed if you are working for ED, you can't please anyone. Could be, but that would be very cruel...

Yeah that changed a coule minutes ago, it's now 14th April 2021.
